Has it been played on Australian radio yet? I haven't heard anything.

I still haven't heard it on the radio here in Perth.  Although last Friday night I was walking thru the city and some chick pulled up at the lights and had the song cranking.  It gave me a bit of a smile hearing it.  I presumed it was the radio version that was playing.  But I still haven't heard a peep myself.

the people that have it are very afraid of leaks being traced back to them due to each disc being watermarked. even the radio promo for the single is watermarked. i should have my copy tomorrow. i think a lot of this watermark shit is silly and people are just paranoid, but jobs are at stake.

How does watermarking work on an album?

Cansomeone please explain to me how this works?  I am assuming that there is some unique identifying feature on the files somehow that would identify which particular disc it came from?

I like that when people come and tell me GN'R news. It's funny, they will say "did you know there is a new GNR song", or "did you know they are releasing a new album"?  As if I didn't already know well before they would have found out.

But then if they don't know I'm a big GN'R fan that's understandable.  But I still have friends who know I am a gunners nut and they still ask questions like that.

But even so it's still cool to bump into casual fans that are interested in what's going on.

A mate and I scored free VIP tickets to the Def Leppard concert this Friday night in Perth.  They include free food and pi$$ for an hour and a half in some wanky sponsors tent before the gig too.

Has anyone seen them recently?  Do they put on a reasonable show?

I have always been a bit of a Def Leppard tragic but never managed to see them until now.  I also think it will be classic to see Cheap Trick who are the support act.

GN'R won't change how they operate and conduct their business and fan interaction etc.  Consequently I actually don't think much will change at all.  Rumours and speculation will simply switch to the next album or a reunion.

Same shit different album 16

I like Ron's playing and I tip my hat to him and the professional and fan friendly demeanour he always has.  I simply didn't like the interview becuase I am tired of these poor guys being gagged from saying anything meaningful.

The questions he pre-empted that he was going to get from callers "Is Robin gone"?, is "Brain or Frank the drummer now"?, "Whoose drumming will be on the album"? etc etc.  Unfortunately these are questions I and everybody else want answers to.  Ron knows it, Axl knows it, everybody knows it.  But they remain mute on these key things and this leaves Ron et al dancing around these sort of questions like a cat on a hot tin roof.

It's a shitty situation for a decent guy like Ron to be in.  I'm sure he would love to be able to share everythig he knows - but simply can't.

But if you're a "band", you'd think it'd be a collaborative effort in the studio, even if you're in post-production. Nope. It's Axl. It's all Axl. Always has been.

Yeah that's the bit for me that makes the whole "we're a band" thing hard to swallow.  It doesn't appear to be collaborative at all in the studio, or when it comes to any other decisions like business ones etc.

I mean I don't have a problem with the employee "hired guns" thing either and the fact that Axl runs the whole show and it's bascially his solo project.  BUT don't try and tell me that it's anything different.

It's not a "happy little democratic family with equal say, collaboration, consulatation and input etc etc" and I'm fine with that - just don't try and pretend to me that it is.  That's all I ask of them.

And I really hope for Ron's sake as well as the other guys that perhaps they may get to a place where they are actually able to contribute at all levels to this thing going forward.

Just finished listening to the interview.... dear me that was a terrible interview/show.

Eddie Trunk didnt help things by allowing some real dickhead questions go to air.  THis was only ever going to go badly and put Ron in an uncomfortable and awkward situation.

It just highlighted the very sad sad situation that Ron and the other members are in (which we all already knew).  Axl treats them like mushrooms.  They either don't know or can't say bloody anything.  It honestly appears that Ron doesn't even know what finished versions of a particular song will be on the final release.  Well sorry that's not a band then.  They can't keep trying to tell us this is a band coz it's bloody not!  These members are given no respect or fucken anything from Axl IMHO.

If Axl wants to run the "band" the way he currently does, the one saving grace thing he could have done is to have released this album under the name Axl Rose NOT Guns N' Roses.  Bumble even mentioned that he wondered what the reaction would be if the CD was released under another name without all the baggage that goes with the Guns name etc etc.

It would certainly make these sort of interviews easier for Ron and the other members because it makes sense then that they are deferring answering any questions because it's not their project or they simply don't know.  But no, they keep trying to convince us that this is a band.  Well IMO it's not, it's a dictatorship.  It makes the name of the album even more comical, "Democracy" my ass, that word doesn't even exist in Axl's vocabulary 14

Sorry rant over, but that interview just really made me angry.  It simply served to highlight the stupidity of this "band/employee" situation.  Poor Ron was on a hiding to nothing doing that interview.  None of the band members should bother doing any interviews until The Master gives them the green light to actually have an opinion and be able to talk freely.  Bring on the release next month so all this type of shit can finally be put to bed!
