#2371 Re: Guns N' Roses » Do you believe CD will come out in 08? » 921 weeks ago

No

I'm still not sure that Axl has the balls to lay it all on the line and finally be judged by putting the music out there.

I think SR is another market tester (like oh my god), if it doesn't go as well as he wants I think he will take his bat and ball and go home again for a couple more years.

Of course I would love to be made to eat humble pie on this!

I liked reading his blog it was very funny plus it actually had some pretty interesting information in there too.

Hopefully it's just so he can do video diaries etc instead of a static sort of written blog.

There is actually a longer version of this.  I think it's an awesome story!

I saw Limulus posted this at HTGTH and thought I would post it here.  I
am thinking about buying a few of the prints.  Apparently you can get a 15% discount with the code below.   This can be used if you are purchasing the Reckless Road book too (if you haven't already).  I have the book and I can highly recommend it - great pics and well put together!

New Products, Improved Website...

Today is the official launch of our newest Reckless Road product line: Exclusive Collectible Prints.

We are making available some of the best and historically relevant photographs from Reckless Road to collect and display. This collection represents important milestones in the band's history, including the first time the Appetite for Destruction line-up played together at the Troubadour in 1985 and several from the first time that legendary Appetite songs, like Sweet Child O' Mine, were ever played.

If you like the images from the book, these 11'' x 17'' will blow you away. They are printed on Enhanced Matte Paper, a bright white paper that is perfect for images that do not require gloss. The images are highly saturated and maintain excellent highlight and shadow detail. These images were digitized directly from Marc Canter's and Jack Lue's negatives from the mid-80's, then cleaned up and color corrected. They look beautiful.

The prints are available for an introductory price of $14.95 each, plus s&h. Don't forget about our book/print promotion as well - buy the book and get a special Limited Edition print free.

The official Reckless Road website is the only place to get them. Email us to let us know what you think.

I'm a financial advisor.  I worked for a big firm for 10 years before leaving to set up my own advising business just over 12 months ago.

My AMP is the Slash Signature Edition Marshall 100W Head and Speaker Cabinet.  Although lately the poor thing sits in the corner most of the time and I simply play the accoustic or the electric without it being plugged in so I don't piss my girlfriend or the neighbours off.

I know why! I have one of those too and they make a HELL of a noise if you set it to Slash's prefered settings. Mind you - the tone is exquisite!

Cool!  Have you played with many other AMPs (because I haven't) so I always wondered how this compared?

I suppose it depends on what sort of sound you are after. I bought it because it was Slash's playing that really got me interested in guitar in the first place and so I obviously wanted to try and get his sound as best I could.

I agree I thought the comments the guy made about Axl commiting suicide where a bit in poor taste - regardless of what the guys intentions were by saying it.

He sounds like a shock jock to me looking for attention.

And for people pissed at the article, he's only stating the facts. Why make excuses for Axl and the band? Who cares if he bashed the UYI/TSI? That's what most normal people think about the albums. We may not (I love both UYI to death) but saying "no! they were awesome really!" isn't going to change the public's perception of the albums.

The guy knows what he is talking about, clearly. Even if we don't agree as GNR diehards

Which thread are you reading?  I didn't see anybody "pissed" at the article.  I saw people (myself included) that disagreed with parts of what the guy was saying and had a different opinion.  We were discussing the article.

I can't say I read anyone making excuses for Axl either either.

It's your opinion that the guy knows what he is talking about.  I think he and you are wrong when you say the UYI albums are shit.  I also believe most music critics who actually "Know what they're talking about" would also disagree with you.

#2380 Re: Guns N' Roses » Bob Lefsetz: Best Buy Deal confirmed/Azoff response to leaks » 923 weeks ago

I can't say I have heard too many reviews that were this negative on the UYI stuff.  Sure there are the people that say "if it was only one album of the best stuff" it would be the greatest album, implying there is a lot of crap in there.  Then there is the over produced argument etc.  But for this guy to totally write off the UYI stuff he has really gone out on a limb I would have thought.

As for the TSI stuff I've never understood the hate either.  Take it for what is, a whole heap of covers of songs that the band really liked, grew up listening to and liked to play.  So they wanted to "wipe the slate clean" (I think that's what someone - Duff said?) to record all these songs that had been floating around.

Do people bash it because they never heard most of the songs or if they did they didn't like the originals anyhow??  I don't get it.  IMO it wasn't supposed to be a real guns record like the others - more of a stop gap.  But then people point to its comparatively lower sales and less mainstream popularity and call it a disaster etc.  I never understood that.
