#241 Re: Guns N' Roses » LEAKS THREAD » 410 weeks ago

the only explanation i could ever give for dj ashba is that the label caved and finally gave axl the greenlight for a new album, but only if he hired someone who could just fully commit himself to pretending to be slash. after all, it worked for fortus! the drunks in the audience wouldn't even know it wasn't the original band. they could sell the album on tour and rake in the profits.

soon after joining, ashba was in a tophat smoking cigs playing a les paul. next thing you know, axl's putting the finishing touches on the follow up record and prepping it for release!

there's no way you can ever convince me that dj was brought in to write songs for an album. i refuse to believe that.

I donated to the funding of this movie and got the soundtrack out of it. I enjoyed the movie once but wouldn't enjoy it another time.

Waiting for updates on the hell within though

just watched that trailer... yikes

on another note, slash doing a soundtrack would actually be really interesting

maybe that's what him and the ax man could collab on?

while we're on the topic of my favorite subject of merch, let's see what chinese democracy related things you own or wish you owned

i don't have much tbh... just the vinyl (magagascar skips), the tab book (with red hand cover!) and some random pin (thanks godzilla)

might grab one of these soon:

wish i had some of the shirts and posters from back then... they had a cool style going during the early days of new guns

any of you fuckers have the alternate covers?

as weird as it is to say, part of me wishes axl pulled the trigger in '99 without buckethead. he took some songs to another level, but he wasn't necessary for axl's vision at the time -- finck was already a good fit. the '99 demos are raw as fuck in the best way possible.

after that album, he could have brought in bucket and brain and wrote the follow up with them.

those 3 could have been a songwriting powerhouse and tackled all sorts of different sounds.

but whatever.

the real shame is that there's unreleased gn'r stuff with bucket on it. i guarantee he's on the general (it's a brain song). the cd remixes have unheard solos from bucket where he duels with bumblefoot (omg, silkworms). he could even be on shit like cuban skies or the early industrial shit like seven and ides of march. i'd love to hear the shackler's revenge with his solo... it was his damn song, after all.

given bucket's health conditions currently, it'd be a nice move of axl to release a song with bucket on it and cut the man some royalties he more than fuckin' deserves.

Just out of curiosity, zombux, what would it take to get those songs?

i've been wondering this, too. money-wise, these songs can't really demand too much -- only us weirdoes care about them at this point.

would $1000 get a song? a snippet? $5000? money talks. everyone needs it.

i'd drop a few thousand to hear the general.

a few minutes ago, i posted a review of the detroit show saying how it reminded me why guns is my favorite band.

.... didn't take long for me to hate them again.

you're looking at a $40 shirt here, folks:

i mean, i get it. they're getting old, have all been sued a lot, and this is there last big chance to capitalize on the gnr brand to make them all a goddamn shitload of money so they never have to worry about financials again. but when you're closing in on potentially the highest grossing tour in HISTORY... do they really need to whore out a bunch of fuckin' belt buckles and skull caps n' shit? everyone in the guns camp is well aware that the (incredibly loyal) fanbase has been starving for new tunes for YEARS, yet they still do shit like this to us?

who the fuck was asking for more merch?

#247 Re: Guns N' Roses » atlas shrugged leaked? » 410 weeks ago

what is that site's endgame with this shit? if they're trying to trick the community into thinking they have leaks, so that they can use these fake leaks to get new, real leaks... then why have post after post calling the song "fatlas" and generally trashing it? it's a decent idea, but their execution has been poor. they should have had a new user sign up, post a leak and then have the admin turn off the site for a while. make it seem like it was taken down or crashing from all the traffic coming in.

pretty sure these dudes are just bored and looking for attention.

the gnr fanbase really is a twisted group. imagine how wacky and desperate we're going to be in 5 years when there's still no new music? psych wards will be overflowing with gnr marks.

hell, for my own sanity, i need axl to throw us a bone here. just drop a new song with slash & duff and release a music video with it. or even just a remastered afd/uyi/cd w/ bonus tracks -- they all have anniversaries you can capitalize on. otherwise, i'm going to continue finding myself getting black out drunk and making weird ass chinese democracy mixtapes with different mixes of TWAT with birdies chirping and elephant noises and synths removed with bass turned up.

it's not healthy!

#248 Re: Guns N' Roses » New Tour Dates Added » 410 weeks ago

what a fuckin' show in detroit last night! after the rio shitshow earlier this year, i was strongly considering not going, but i'm so happy i smartened up and went.

i got to hear my michelle, patience, madagascar and prostitute, none of which were played at the detroit show last year.

madagascar was the coolest moment of the show for me. by that point, i was already hammered. as soon as them french horns pumped in, i lost my goddamn mind! the casual fans around me were looking at me like i grew 3 extra heads.

i gotta say, axl sounded phenomenal. he was singing his fuckin' ass off. he's definitely half-assed some performances in 2017, but he was fully on last night.

he said something about "our boy verlander" and there was some mild boos from the crowd. i thought that was pretty funny.

overall, hell of a night. i've been really down on the band lately, so this was a great reminder why they will always be my favorite.

#249 Re: Guns N' Roses » atlas shrugged leaked? » 410 weeks ago

so where did this supposed new version of silkworms come from?

#250 Re: Guns N' Roses » Never before seen GNR show from 10/23/87 VIDEO INSIDE » 411 weeks ago

this is pretty fuckin' great. guns in their absolute prime. what a powerhouse of a band.

lmao @ axl telling robert christgau to blow himself away. wtf was that about?

It's a mug's game to deny the technical facility claimed by one-upping crits and young victims of testosterone poisoning--not only does Axl cruise where other "hard rock" singers strive, but he has a knack for believability, which in this genre is the most technical matter of all. When he melds scream and croon on the big-beat ballad, you understand why some confused young thing in an uplift bra is sure it's love sweet love. But Axl is a sucker for dark romantic abstractions--he doesn't love Night Train, he loves alcoholism. And once that sweet child o' his proves her devotion by sucking his cock for the portacam, the evil slut is ready for "See me hit you you fall down." B-
