#21 Re: Guns N' Roses » Predictions for the upcoming shows? » 217 weeks ago
I picked Other,. Mostly the same, however I think at some point during the tour they unleash a few new songs, if nothing else to boost ticket sales (not sure how they are selling, but if its low they'll need to do something to inject life). I predict when they do it, they'll bang out 2 or 3 new ones in one show to create buzz, they play them the next few shows. May or may not be hardschool, atlas or previously leaked songs, sooo.....

He wasted so much of his prime after 1993 that I wish he just stayed a hermit and never tarnished the public’s memory of him. We’ve gotten this strange hybrid deal of reclusiveness mixed with embarrassing downward trajectory in stage performance. Would have been cool if he never performed live after 1993, but focused all his energy into releasing as much new studio material as possible.
That's a good assessment. IMHO I'd have preferred he just release a piano solo album of material (TIL, The Blues, Prostitute etc). Plus, like you said, stay a hermit too. Unless it exploded & he sorta had to tour behind it.

Songs along the lines of Civil War imho. Should've been treated as such, probably should've been an early radio release for the album.
Overall, needs a cleaner one better final take. Both on the vocals, and final mix. It's a bit jumbled, different sounds & structures and arrangements. It's all over the place. Solo loses alot, although I kinda think the Brian May solo/Holy Grail talk is a bit much. Lyrics are good, vocals ok, just doesn't seem like a band behind him as much as a backing band for a solo artist (Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry etc)

Really? He played alot live tho, early in the NITL tour. Still is talented at it.

Agree with alot of this, it's a great song in there. Should've been a radio single, probably Better first, then The Blues.
As for the CD track, a bit overproduced (I too remember liking the 06 leak better), the Mickey Mouse voice, and the song title change (Street Of Dreams?? wtf). It all just missed and took away from a gem of a song.
Axl's an underrated pianist. He probably should've put out a solo album, let Slash & the band do some side stuff, then reconvene around 02/04 like when VR did.

Do you disagree that to 99.9% of people, being raped results in anger and rage? How many people that are raped continue to have consensual sex years after the rape with the rapist? That's my struggle with this. I oversaw quite a few sexual assault cases in the military, and in my observation, the willingness of the raped to be friendly with the rapists was the number one indicator of how factual the allegations are. I'm not saying people don't respond differently or demonstrate their trauma differently. Just that continuing to have sex with someone who raped you isn't something that I find a plausible scenario.
I meant it facetiously, as in 'I'll make sure not to rape you Randall'

If someone knocked me out and raped me, there is no friendship afterwards.
Duly noted.
If he rendered women unconscious so he can have sex against their consent, that's rape. Giving someone a medication to take the edge off and make them more loose isn't rape.
Yeah this is where I'm going too, somewhat, or just unclear about. Ludes was before our time, (late 70s?) but I think it was a common party drug, something people took & tried to get their hands on like exctasy. I think Wolf Of Wall Street exagerrated it's effects alot, it's not one pill & you're paralyzed. Didn't he say he took like 20 or 50 of them.
Although, giving a girl a strong dose & amount of Molly etc and she's knocked out, then yeah it's rape. But, imagine a guy going to a rave with his gf. Then, 5-10 years later, 'He drugged me & raped me'. It becomes a fine line.
#29 Re: The Sunset Strip » Metallica - Black album box set » 219 weeks ago
. I really like how this version sounds too, the riff once the singing kicks in sounds like it has way more bite than it sounds on the final album version. Probably just the mixing and lack of production at this point.
I agree, especially about the part of the guitar during the lyrics. The pre-chorus sorta lacks, but that was probably re-recorded specifically for overdubs etc. I like the raw free flow to it, where the final mix seemed a little polished for Metallica, not nearly as overdone as UYI. Was probably the era, as Achtung Baby, UYI & Black elbum were that way. Even traces back to Dr Feelgood a little bit, and maybe Hysteria.
Anyway, yeah cool box set. DVD's tho, they're def a thing of the past already.

I think you missed the point. He's saying Motley Crue was notorious for something similar.
I didn’t get that from reading PASnows post??? I thought he was just asking for clarification of how Cosby was drugging them, because he couldnt remember.
Sorta both, I'll read up, tried recapping on wikipedia but it's all pretty muddy. As a whole, where there's smoke there's fire. However, cases from the mid 60s & 1970s, are touch to accuse somebody 4-5 decades later. I did come across a Bill Cosby quote on one accuser, "I give her Quaaludes. We then have sex.". Kinda like doing exctasy or Xanax maybe with a girl (not that I ever have).
And yeah, like Motley Crue gave girls drugs (cocaine) and had sex. Was that always 'rape'? Now, IF Cosby was feeding them drugs/ludes without them knowing, then yes that's assault. Ludes were pretty popular tho, again like Molly or Xanax today, so I don't think it's far fetched to think the woman maybe were in on it. Maybe not too, that's what I'm unclear about. But it wasn't like roofies necessarily, where basically no one (female) willingly took it voluntarily.
