#311 Re: Guns N' Roses » Best Buy exclusive dramatically limited 1st week sales! » 875 weeks ago
Anyone want to bet it doesn't sell more than 50K during week #2?
I'll take that bet, it will sell more than that.

Very sorry to hear this, peace to Jeff, his family and to you. Remember all the good times, that is what makes a life eternal.
#313 Re: Guns N' Roses » What did you expect? » 875 weeks ago
I'm mostly surprised at the lack of promotion. I thought there may be another song or two (like The General/Something Always) on the album but for the most part it is about what I expected. James made some good points. Using common sense you already had the writing on the wall. However (and I think I'm in the minority) I do think the sales may surprise some people. I still see it at better than 3 million by next year's end. It's better than Contraband and even without promotion it will catch on I believe. I'd just LOVE to see a couple videos and a couple singles to boost it. Odd the silence.

this guy is an ongoing jackasss....makes the league look bad
last year he said a guy was pansy cuz he had cancer
I know jack shit about hockey but this one statement is enough for me to see he's an asshole. Unbelievable someone would pull that shit.
#315 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy UNDER 300,000 copies sold first week? » 875 weeks ago
Its even with Contraband after the first week, but what does this guarantee? The question is, have all of the magic bullets been fired? Shacklers has been out there. If the world has been out there. CD has been out there, i guess now its up to better-we will have to see. But have all of the magic bullets been spent? For all of you who contend this thing will keep pace with Contraband (Im not necessarily disagreeing with you) what is going to provide the legs for it? And besides the material seeming to not do well, this problem is now seeming to be compounded with the silence from the GNR camp, can this be turned around as well? Again im not saying it cant be, but how can it?
The only thing this album needs is time AND just a little support. If Better gets played at the stations fairly well and (better yet) gets a video this will REALLY help. A couple more singles with videos would do the trick. The silence isn't helping matters but if the singles and (hopefully) videos get out there I think the music will take care of the rest. I FULLY think this album will top Contraband in sales even with the silence.
#316 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy UNDER 300,000 copies sold first week? » 875 weeks ago
well its doing better than GH did...thats promising
and its even with contraband which went double platinum....there is hope still folks, the developments over the next couple months is important
AND as I've preached all along this is with BEST BUY EXCLUSITIVITY, I personally think that HURT the sales. Anyone know how long this exclusive deal lasts? Also has anyone heard Better yet and is the video rumor a reality??
#317 Re: Guns N' Roses » Best Buy exclusive dramatically limited 1st week sales! » 875 weeks ago
I have said from the beginning (before release date) that I wasn't convinced the exclusive was a good idea. Yeah, Best Buy sells everything (entertainment wise) but it is NOT large enough to compete with exclusives like those that Wal Mart does, bottom line. Therefore many people did not get the album. I know for a FACT that people have asked for the cd at retail stores only to be told "we don't have it". It's a fact this hurt sales. The good news is once the "exclusitivity" runs out (anyone know how long that is?) I think it will help sales stay moderate instead of nose dive. This will be what keeps relatively decent sales going and propel it to the 3x platinum (my guess) by next year's end.
#318 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy UNDER 300,000 copies sold first week? » 876 weeks ago
I like CD MUCH better than Contraband and we are all jumping to conclusions WAY too fast. Best Buy exclusitivity was NOT something Contraband had to go through. I DO NOT believe it benefited the band NOR sales. Have patience, my bet is the album will do better than most do in the next few weeks. Simply meaning that it may drop some but will gain momentum instead of just "falling off the face of the earth". The album will sale 3 to 3.5 million copies by the end of next year. I'll eat my words if I'm wrong but you naysayers do the same if I'm not...fair enough??

That really sucks, more evidence of this thing not being "ready". What a mess.
#320 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy UNDER 300,000 copies sold first week? » 876 weeks ago
I think in hind-sight, Wal-Mart was the better deal.
Swap out Riad & Sorry with two other songs, and get a bigger payday, and more record sales. Wal-Mart gave AC/DC a great push, and probably would've done the same for GN'R.
I agree with this point of view. Best Buy just isn't large enough in comparison.
