#311 Re: The Garden » I need a bad habit » 905 weeks ago
I think you're overreacting. There's no reason to start a "bad habit." I don't see why you would want suggestions from us about the types of "bad" things you should do. If you want to do a lot of harm to yourself, start binge eating junk food. That's the number one killer right now...
But anyway, this is foolish. I don't see why you should "cross over to the dark side" because "bad people always succeed." For one, "bad people" aren't "bad" because of what they do to their bodies. They're "bad" because of what they do to other people. Second, good people can succeed. I think you're taking something that's happening in your personal life and blowing it way out of proportion and trying to apply it to society as a whole.

Blind Melon - Blind Melon (excellent album)
The Black Crowes - Shake Your Money Maker
Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
Stone Temple Pilots - Core
Dan Bern - Dan Bern (none of you have probably heard it, but it's a great album)
Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion II
Honourable mention:
Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion I
Soundgarden - Superunknown
Slash's Snakepit - It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere
Barenaked Ladies - Gordon

^ I almost saw that last night but opted for 21 instead. It's nothing special.
Dad and I saw 88 Minutes a couple of days ago. We were the only two in the theatre. Haha... I'd give it an 8/10. Pacino was great, as always, and the plot was decent. It keeps you guessing until the end and there are some pretty intense moments. I don't understand why it's gotten such poor reviews. I guess it has to do with the mediocre dialog and somewhat predictable ending. We enjoyed it, nonetheless.

Yes, it's copyrighted. If I write a story, I own its copyright, regardless of whether I publish it.
besides its s guns n roses song...you can bet that Axl coptrighted it the moment he thought the riff was cool...from what i understand it doesnt cost much to copyright material
Copyrighting is free. If you create anything that can be reduced to written form (such as a song, with lyrics and music notation), you own its copyright. Of course, unless you make it obvious that you own the copyright (you can make it obvious by mailing the work to yourself or marking it with ©, your name, and date) it's difficult to prove that you own it. If you really want exclusive protection, you can register a copyrighted material, but it's not really necessary.

Axl S wrote:This has been out for ages. I've played it and it's not brainwashing. It's a little novelty that you enjoy cause instead of money you have a bank car and a machine that goes beep.
Actually, its getting young people ready for a cashless society.
I used cash today for the first time in 6 months. That's a bit of an exaggeration, but there really isn't much of a need for paper cash anymore. It's easier to steal, less convenient to carry, and reduces paper-trail. What's the advantage of using cash to debit/credit cards. Well, outside the obvious that people have difficulty controlling their expenses on credit... but cards are more modern and provide a level of security in transactions that cash does not. It would also cut down on the 12 hour Monopoly marathon games...

Yeah if you plan on releasing a song and it wasn't written by you, then you need the artist who wrote the songs permission. In the case of the leaks I suspect nobody would get permission from Axl to record and release them as a song before he did. Nothing to stop a band performing them live though, VR could perform CD from start to finish (assuming they'd heard it) and Axl couldn't do anything about that. That's my understanding of it anyway.
That's right. I'm not a lawyer, but I have an understanding of business and copyright law. The only exception to this rule is that the song should be credited if played live, to avoid possible litigation. If not, it could constitute the tort of passing off. That's why, when an artist plays something that's not such a well known song, they generally credit the artist or original performer. Also, if the concert is being recorded for profitable distribution (say, a live DVD), the performer has to get permission from the artist before distributing it for profit. Of course, it's always good practice to get permission when using someone else's work in any shape or form.
