The only thing that sustains them currently is stuff they can market to the only people buying. The point is, I don't have to like that stuff and I certainly don't have to pay attention to it. I don't think that makes me "sad" or "old" because I know what I like to hear.

You don't have to like it and you don't have to pay attention to it, you just need to stop bitching about it and quietly reserve yourself to the fact that this music isn't being made for you. That's my point. Let's relate it to films. I like hardcore horror movies. I wouldn't go on and on bitching about how the cartoons on Nickelodeon or Disney aren't as cool as they were when I was younger. They're clearly not being aimed at me anymore. I have my own interests beyond that now. Harping on the current tastes of kids would make me seem...cynical and old. Clearly, the people on a Guns N' Roses fan board aren't going out in droves to purchase the latest pop music has to offer. I suspect there are very few actual Katy Perry fans here (since we're using her as an example, and although I could argue how I find her particularly talented). No, you don't have to like it. No one's forcing you to. And unless you're a 12-14 year old girl, you shouldn't feel so obligated to needlessly chime in with an opinion on it. That's what "roll with it" means.

That's also the version of the band I saw. I haven't heard any of this new stuff, but based on your opinion, I'll stick with what I've got.

I stand corrected on the Pirates movies.

Brand New Sin is a good match for BLS. I'd have liked to seen that show. I have seen both bands on their own.

Thanks for the heads up, Axlin08. I cancelled my Amazon order because it was taking way too long, so I might stop by Walmart tomorrow night.

And tejastech08, I actually have to strongly disagree on the superiority of Halloween's blu-ray transfer. Only the Dean Cundey THX transfer, which can be seen on Anchor Bay's '99 restored limited edition, is an accurate representation of John Carpenter's Halloween and features the correct color timing and muted tones, unlike most other "restored" versions of the film on DVD. Coming from the DiviMax transfer, which Carpenter himself has disowned, this blu-ray does not accurately represent Halloween as it was originally intended to be seen (ie not in high def). Just because the image is "cleaner" doesn't mean it's supposed to be. It largely robs the film of its atmosphere and limits the impact of the spookier visuals. While a blu-ray funded restoration of an already classic, big budget film can be beneficial, there is simply no need or place for that sort of work to be done, or "upgrades" to be made, on these other types of films. We agree on that part. As an aside, while I understand the Pirates blu-rays do better reflect Verbinski's vision of the films, the Pirates films were shot in high def. I have a problem with that all by itself. A film like Halloween is going from a low budget source and being stretched and wedged into this "super quality" format that doesn't enhance nearly as much as it detracts from the experience. Modern Hollywood blockbusters that are always intended for a high def presentation will benefit the most, but as a fan of film I am also not a fan of the high def look of these newer films even in theaters. That's another argument.

Hot N' Cold's a good tune. She's actually a talented vocalist. I find her voice appealing. From what I've gathered, she writes or co-writes the majority of her stuff. It is just pop, you know. Pop ain't going away. Just like when everyone hated the boy bands and complained if there were going to be such pop groups branded for young girls, they should at least write and play their own stuff. The Jonas Brothers do just that and still get shit on. Not everything's gonna be Sunet Strip. Not everything's gonna be Guns N' Roses. As a music journalist, I get that. While I'm not a fan of those particular artists per se, they each deserve a place within their own fanbase. Kids need music to listen to just like us. The more cynical people get about pop music, the older and sadder they seem. Just roll with it.

#368 Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Gilby Clarke's Opinion of Chinese Democracy » 900 weeks ago

Former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke was recently asked by a fan if he's hard GN'R's new album, "Chinese Democracy" and what he thought of it. "Yes, I listened to it on a long drive to Phoenix, Arizona," Gilby replied. "I think it's very good and very imaginative. Axl's [Rose] vocals sound great and there's some creative guitar playing on it also. But there was too many slow-to-midtempo songs on it for my taste and some of the solos are a little overdone; they don't match the song. Some of the lyrics are a little redundant. I expected some resolution since it's taken so long."

Clarke joined GUNS N' ROSES in November 1991, replacing Izzy Stradlin, who quit the band in the middle of a 28-month world tour. He toured extensively with the band on their "Use Your Illusion" tour between 1991 and 1993 and appeared on the GUNS N' ROSES covers album "The Spaghetti Incident?", "Live Era: '87-'93" and "Greatest Hits".

Shortly before GUNS N' ROSES recorded a cover of THE ROLLING STONES' "Sympathy for the Devil" for the film "Interview with the Vampire", Clarke was replaced by lead singer Axl Rose's longtime friend Paul Tobias.

The Grammys suck tonight and only further the fact that the show has needed to get out of its own ass for a long time. Coldplay blows. U2's performance wasn't weak, Bono's vocals were. I think he just needs to get himself warmed up and back out there. Still a good tune and the Edge really picked up the slack. Kid Rock rocked live, as usual. I also don't get all the hate towards this guy. Kanye West's two performances were another highlight. I don't mind being his only fan on these boards, I just find it perplexing. Much kudos to M.I.A. for pulling it off on her due date like that. She's a cutie. Macca with Dave Grohl was cool, too. Overall, too many shit performances and too few awards. Metal gets relegated to a before the show handout so we can lick Coldplay's asshole all night long. That's classy. Oh yeah, and Katy Perry was hot.

It's fake because the photo's some old fucking modelling shot of Bai Ling, digitally distorted to all hell so you can't tell right away. It's in a CD-R slim pack. Whether or not you believe Street of Dreams is the third single, which we pretty much all have since the get-go, the images are bullshit. A Better video clip would leak before an imaginary physical CD single for an upcoming single, ironically posted at MyGNR first. C'mon guys. Really?
