To me "You will Own Nothing" is an obvious trend that already existed....I don't need to buy every CD that comes out cos I have spotify...I don't need to get every new BD/DVD cos I have all the streaming services...I don't need to buy a holiday house....I can air B+B a great place for the 2 weeks of a decade I wanna be there....maybe eventually I don't need to own my car...I can make do with the transport and ubers....
People keep using it as some proof of some global agenda but to me it's just more common sense evolution of the gig economy and using the internet and smart devices to deliver services to people.
In 1997 I could have told you that one day I would be able to watch new movies as they come out on the internet, but that's just an extrapolation from the state of affairs of what the future is likely to be. It's not proof that anyone intends to unravel democracy or anything similar.

I could've swore that Izzy was 100% on board until Weiland came in and didn't want Izzy involved as it made it seem like he was just the lead singer of an alternate GNR...and they didn't "gel" or something like that.
Similar to your other reply - I could be wrong cos I'm old and this stuff is like 20 years back now....(scary when we're talking about VR!) but my recollection of it is the other way around....
I think Duff's version was that Izzy wanted to do it like a fun hobby project - write 8 songs add a bunch of covers and hit the road immediately and tour it - Izzy wasn't as interested as the others in building it into a supergroup big deal.
Izzy thought he and duff split the vocal duties and they just do a season of it kinda thing. But Duff was more like "if we do this we have to do it the right way" cos he realised what a big deal it was to get them all back together.
Anyway they hung out and wrote for a while, but when the decision was made to bring in a frontman Izzy figured that would lead to more rockstar drama rather than fun and he took off. Slash said it was because Izzy was still traumatised by Axl but he might have just been being a smartass.
Curiously they also said that Dave was still around when they were writing with Izzy, and he was a bit like "shall I make a discreet exit then" but that they told him to hang out and we'll just jam with 3 guitarists. Slash said people don't understand his relationship with Izzy: Izzy's always the guy who is half around, he's never exactly in or out. He'll just be there sometimes.

AgesOfTheIce wrote:Izzy screws everybody over. He bailed on GNR, Ju Ju Hounds and New York Dolls. His nickname should be Mr. Unreliable.
What happened with JuJu Hounds and the Dolls?
Someone here will know better than me but wasn't there some situation where mid way through the process of a rehearsal or a recording session he was like "I need to go get some smokes, i'll be back in a bit" then just drove off into the sunset never to return to the band at all.
Or it could be an urban legend...but I think there was some story of that nature told from someone in one of his bands at one stage.
As far as GNR, I don't think he'd be interested in a long term long haul tour commitment. Look at how he was interested to write with VR but didn't wanna join and deal with the lifestyle. I could see him doing a handful of shows with GNR for a bit of fun at some stage...but I would be surprised if he decided it wanted to become a full time guy anymore.
I guess maybe if he needs a lot of money, but I think a handful of paydays for the buzz then continuing on his life of adventure is more his style than the grind of a 3 year tour with the same setlist in your old age.

One thing we are finding out is Russia’s military with the exception of nukes is trash and now we must must question how efficient their nuke stockpile is. Half are probably duds. What an embarrassment for pooty poo
I agree...but then a while back I saw a thing about how even a handful of nukes (say India vs Pakistan) used quickly in urban areas could create a large enough fire that the resulting smoke would block out the sun globally for several years and apparently the world has something like 6 weeks worth of food security at a time.

It's interesting....we know they recorded at least an album of demos with Corey Taylor....
Corey has said:
"I think it was ten [songs that I recorded with Velvet Revolver]… I think it was… It’s either nine or ten. There was a handful that we wrote, and then there was a handful that I kind of rearranged a little bit based on music that they already had. So it wasn’t music that we kind of wrote together. I mean, there were, like, three… I think there was three songs that we wrote together, which were actually pretty sweet. And then the rest of it was me writing to music that they already had that I thought was pretty cool.”
On the same subject slash has said:
"Corey came in, just like a lot of other guys came in. Of course, Corey's Corey, and he's probably one of the best guys out there. I love Corey. I just thought it was a different style than what VELVET REVOLVER was trying to capture. But, still, the songs are cool. But if we were gonna do anything with that, they would have to be re-recorded and… 'Cause, I mean, it was very raw and very, sort of, 'making it up on the spot' kind of deal. And so we'd have to revisit everything and then we'd put it together, I think. But that's not really a plan. I'm just saying if it was… I don't wanna get any ideas in anybody's head. That would be the only way that it could be released, [and] I'm not saying that it's going to."
So it's interesting...although we also know Slash has reused VR demos in his solo stuff - so maybe all of these songs have since been borrowed and converted to other Slash purposes....but it sort of suggests that there's at least some jam material lying around in a vault some place. Even if not polished up to a full record...I would love to see stuff like this surface as a bonus disc on a reissue of the main records or something.

Frank in his tenure with the band has gotten worse and worse over the years.
Yeah i noticed that too, like when he first came he seemed to play in more of a hybrid of Adler/Matt's styles than he does now. He seemed a suitable fill in to play all that stuff and all the CD stuff a jack-of-all-trades kinda thing....and I guess he still does...but he never seemed to lock in well with Slash and Duff...
Like I prefer the reunion band to a 2012 band of course, but if you watch stuff like London 2012 the timing seems much better. Maybe it's something to do with the foldback or something I dunno - but they don't seem to be playing together as well.

I would love to see something.
I suspect we might just get something like GNR doing fall to pieces as a tribute to scott next tour or something.
Between scott's unhappy passing, the awkwardness at the last VR reunion before the end, multiple comments from Slash speaking unfavourably of the whole experience, and now the further awkwardness with Matt being left out of the reunion and him letting it be known to the media....it's hard to see how the cards would go the right way.....
then again...they have some toys in the vault...like the 3rd album they never finished, and who knows what other outtakes and stuff.
Dave kinda deserves his moment too.
I'd like to see it...but yeah I dunno...maybe a reissue with a live disc? Between Slash and Duff being in GNR, and Slash having the Myles stuff on full boil, it's easy to imagine this getting ignored though.

This is what my phone looked like when these songs were first recorded in demo form:

I dunno what else I can say.
They need to come out for the fucking hell of it at this point, I don't care if the style is out of date, I don't care if it's not financially viable, I don't care if it's the end times...they need to come out like my kidney stones do....just finish it for us please Uncle Axl

I don't feel about it the way I did at 14 years old....and so I'm not expecting this album to change my life or reinvent popular culture or anything...but I believe a bunch of talented dudes could still make a song or two that I will enjoy.
Something is better than nothing to me. Even 'bad' songs work to show me what I liked about the 'good' songs haha and I still think there will be some good songs somewhere.
Life will end things soon enough anyway, these guys are not spring chickens, neither are most of their audience, and meanwhile the world seems to be trying hard to end itself first....so I mean I'm not in a hurry for it to be over any faster.

I can live with drip feeding. A couple of new songs every tour or so.
It will add up to a lot more than we got the past couple of decades.
