You can have angst and attitude yet still be a cool dude. See Bon Scott. The most perfect front man ever is probably Mick Jagger.
Mick Jagger was Axl's idol as a band leader. Unfortunately he doesn't have Mick's skills that are required to lead a huge rock band successfully. Jagger is a perfect machine on the stage and an accountant off the stage. Axl is hit or miss live (if and when he makes the gig), but what's much worse in this case, he's a paranoid, insecure control freak. GN'R's downfall in a nutshell.

They can be ok when he does, like watch this!, but generally he comes from an aerosmith-esque 2 guitars intertwine in a rock song context that really needs a powerful front man to match the emotion Slash puts into the strings.
It's odd to me that people don't appreciate Slash's recent works, it's some of his best IMO.
For me it's all about the singers, I just can't block them out.
Don't get me wrong and it's not an insult, but if you dislike all Dover, Jackson, Weiland, Kennedy and the majority of guests on his first solo album, then you are the origin of the problem and not Slash's mates. They are very different singers and I'm not a fan of them all, for sure. Maybe you wanna hear Axl. That's okay, cause they were a once in a generation duo and I feel the hiatus on both sides' last works. Even I'd prefer Axl singin' for Slash (and Slash palying guitar for Axl), but I, as a bedroom guitarist, really enjoy the hell out of Slash's last two albums (and the first Snakepit). For me GN'R were a guitar band with an amazing singers, and I still get most of those loved guitars from Slash.
On the other hand I really appreciate that you don't think that Slash hasn't done anything good since GN'R. Cause he's still bringing out all those riffs and solos, just the partners changed. Slash only got better.

They're claiming they did absolutely nothing to it.
In listening to the CD in the car, I couldn't hear any obvious overdubs. But when I really get to blast the vinyl and/or blu-ray, I suspect I'll be able to spot at least a couple.
The star of the show so far for me remains Black Dog. Jason's drumming on it is just bad ass.
His additions start around :27

Well, watching the movie it was obvious that Page didn't play some notes. His left hand did the notes well (so it was the appropriate shot), but his right hand wasn't as fast as what we heard. Furthermore the band was much tighter than in their prime. I know that Jason is a monster, but he and JPJ sounded like a perfect machine. Led Zeppelin wasn't this kind. Just sayin'.
I'll buy the DVD and compare it to the audience shot I have. That'll be telling.

That's why we have more posts in the GN'R section, cause people prefer talking about the tabloid aspect, like weight gain, hair loss, disastrous performances, being 3-hour late, riots, rants, secrets and conspiracy theories. Axl brings you all.
Music and a functioning, alive band is less interesting, even on a GN'R fan board. While true, if that functioning band actually made some decent music more people would probably be interested.
They've just made the best GN'R(-related) album in 17 years.

I agree its utterly stupid wasting time writing about these things but hey, why not?
At least nobody is tearing anyone else a new one of something that happened between Axl and Slash 20 years ago!
I think Axl took Slash's hair to kill his curly-haired rock star image. But he didn't get close to the top-hats, so Slash survived.
Done.

My dogs are my family members, too, so I can absolutely understand her, although it's a rare human decision from a star.

I don't say it's the _exact opposite_, but I think the active mods have less patience towards doubters than towards believers. That's it. I read a lot of shit here that somehow doesn't result a warning, while other shit results a warning or (or very rarely) a ban. To be sincere I think those people who are looking for some trouble can go with it, if they are fans of the new band. That's their free card.
I'm not saying the situation is crucial, since it's still the best and most intelligent GN'R board I know. But there is a tendency. It seems like I'm not the only one here with this opinion.I think that just boils down to people getting sick to death of the same old same old.
Axl's voice sucks
Axl's finished
Slash is better cause he records still
When's CD II coming out?
GN'R is dead
DJ sucks
Robin sucks
Richard sucksPick 2-3 out of those, and i'm just as guilty. I think people are far more tolarant of positivity than negativity just from a human psyche point of view. Has nothing to do with Evo exclusively.
When these guys (Neemo, Will, whoever) are busier than hell and have REAL life things to deal with, it's far easier to keep the ship going with positive thoughts than it is with having to, when you have NO time, sift through complaints and arguments over literally fucking nothing.
I can totally see their point of view, and I don't see it has some sort of conscious decision to stick it to the haters. It just makes their life and the operation of this board simpler and faster.

Yeah, we are on the same page. I can fully understand that it's a fan site, hence being a fan of everything they do and not being critical is more acceptable than disliking 50-90% of the stuff they do and wanting things they don't do. However it's not an everyday band in terms of functioning, so the forum is not like... U2's
None of the mods expect blind loyalism and fanboyism here. Fact. But I cannot recall a single occasion, when the agressive or very passive agressive pro-new band fans got warnings and the "other side" didn't.
But it doesn't affect my life. Fact. Even tough I sometimes find myself in heated debates, I don't really care too much anymore about this band and the related bands. Unfortunately. I miss those times.
