It's the food shortage plus rising price of produce, meat etc.  Most mom and pop type restaurants live on the margins, and an economic downturn like this could put them out for good.  I had a favorite chain restaurant (local) that I went to the other day that closed up permanently the other day.

Plus McDonald's has gotten into the "shrinking" game, the large iced coffee I usually buy got transfomred into a medium size.

Dems will get thumped in the midterm and they would be insane to go with Biden again in 24.  You can easily make the "he is out of touch" argument on him.

That one is pretty good.  It's more of a character piece.  Very 70s.  Great later Mitchum performance.  I really liked Peter Boyle in it as well.

Bananas--I kinda miss this version of Woody Allen.  Just goes for the jokes and it suceeds for the most part.  The Howard Cosell bits are the funniest.  I do wonder if he had Keaton instead of Louise Lasser whether or not this film could have been improved.  They don't seem to have much chemistry to me.

Battle Royale.  Still holds up and one of my favorites despite numerous viewings.  I never realized how funny Kitano is in this.

The Ring (2002 version) and Ringu (Japanese original).   I'll just compare and note some stuff since I watched both of these on consecutive days.  The American version, specifically Seattle is better in terms of setting than the original (Tokyo).  There some mystical quality that I preferred with the American version.  Something about the prevalence of the color green that I liked over Tokyo which was just kinda there.  The ghost was actually stronger and much spookier in the American version.   The character of the ex-husband is far superior in the Japanese version.  He is more developed and far more interesting as opposed to the American version who just seems like a tool.  Conversly, the kid or the reporter's son is much more creepy in the American version.  I much preferred the second half of the film in the original as I think the story was stronger.  The "horse" scene in the American film was laughable.  But the "well" scene, I preferred the remake.  It got to the point and was scarier.  I probably preferred the original more probably because of the second half was stronger than the remake.  But they are different films.  The American one is more of a mystery/investigative film.  Whereas the Japanese one, incorporates folklore and the "ghost" aspect more.

Oh yeah.  Every ten mins was like upbeat piano music.   I was like WTF is going on here.

Let’s be honest, the lack of a single would not matter, if Axl (that’s who we are talking about) didn’t fuck up those 500 other times .  Or if they didn’t treat the fanbase with contempt.

They aren’t even that well run for a “nostalgia tour” band.  Bands who have had major players die communicate and treat their bands with more respect with GNR.

The sad part is that Axl seems to not know or care (hard to say which) how bad “management “ is screwing this thing up.  All in the name of loyalty.  And yeah, I too wonder what Slash and Duff thought about management .  They probably fucked up countless times since 2016.

This is the exact same feeling I got while watching Money Train.   The only difference is that I thought the Lopez-Snipes drama parts were the best parts of the film, as opposed to Rosie Perez being totally annoying .  Snipes/Harrison worked well together, both vehicles just sucked ass in my opinion.

Bluebeard-Korean film.  Only watched this because the other Korean films that looked interesting I had already seen .  This one is ok for 2/3 of the way through.  Then it goes off the rails BIG TIME with a damn twist and countertwist.  I rarely get angry at films but this one pissed me off for wasting my time.

The Sicilian Connection--70s film starring Ben Gazzara.  Most of this is boring as it spends waaaay too much time on the nuts and bolts of drug distribution and globe hopping.  The only interesting parts happen in NYC near the end where you get some really nice shots of 1970s NYC and stuff/action actually happens.

Oh, misterID, it's easy to name the Asian actress of that 2022 film, since she was also in a BOND movie!  It was years ago, but still.
