#3951 Re: The Sunset Strip » The Video Game Console Thread » 903 weeks ago
I love these discussions as to what console is better. This is exactly what Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo want you to do. Most of the reasons why one system is better than another is neglible or subjective. "The PS3 is better because it has THIS game or XBox is better because it has THIS game." A game doesn't make a system better. I own all three systems and each has a special purpose. I like my Wii because I occasionally enjoy playing old NES games and like using the Wii remote. The Wii also has some great games that I can only play on the Wii like Zelda and Mario Kart. The PS3 has...ummm.. well it has Blu-Ray. I really just bought it cause I had money to burn and wanted something to play my old PS2 games (The Kessen Series is awesome). I'm sure there are some great PS exclusive games out there and oh yea, it has Blu-Ray. Now the titan, jugernaut and king, the 360, that personally is right up my alley. The online component of the 360 is by far the best. If you disagree you're wrong and just being a fanboy. Yes it costs money, but I always go by the philosophy you get what you pay for and to me that shows quite well between Sony's online ability and Microsoft's. I've never played Halo a day in my life, so for me it comes down to the online experience. The graphics and audio between the 360 and PS3 are negligible, though alot of what I've read puts the 360 slightly ahead. I hear about all this potential the PS3 has, but where is it? If the PS3 doesn't start to really shine until 2010 or 2011 it will be too late. The XBox 720,3 or whatever it will be called will be out and make the gap in technology look like the gap between the 360 and Gamecube.
Microsoft has a larger game library right now. That gives it huge kudos. last I checked, you could buy a Wii and 360 for the price of one PS3. And the whole Blu-Ray thing is cool and all, but I've always been of the opinion you shouldn't use your Game system to be your DVD player. Burns the drive out too quickly. You can get a Blu-ray player for under 200$ now, so if I decide to buy Blu-Rays, I'll buy a seperate player to view them rather than wear down my PS3.
If this trend keeps going, Sony is going to be screwed when the next gen of consoles comes out. They're still eating huge losses (all systems do this I know) on every system they make and sell, but don't have the library they did with the PS2 to recoup. If Microsoft gets a year head start again and sets the standard for the next generation, Sony is going to go the way of Sega. I think this whole generation is a great parallell of the N64, Playstation and Saturn war. With Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony filling each of that eras roles in the order listed.
To each their own though. Enjoy what you have.

That's why when I see a bandwagon fan (you can normally tell them because they only know one player on the team and obsess about them) I either kick them in the nuts or kick them down a flight of stairs. Then toss them a cowboys jersey to wash up. Really, "your" team should be the one in your hometown or where you lived at one point. Motherfuckers in Jersey rooting for the 49ers are just fucking retards. I know it sucks if you're near a team that does horrible every year, but it is only a game afterall. So my suggestion to all of you who know bandwagon douches, just push em in front of a bus.

So I get bored, allot. Anyway, I've decided that I'm going to buy a dog when I return to the world. My dog is getting older and lives with my parents in Ohio and I think it's time to buy one of my own. So i've been browsing animal shelters online. Now I'm not one of those wackos who think evil incarnate takes form at Petland and other Petstores that sell pure breed dogs. The way I look at it is that there are plenty of people willing to walk into a Pet Store and buy a cute beagle puppy, not so many are willing to walk to the animal shelter and adopt and abandoned mutt. So rather than buy a popular puppy, why not save an animal is my line of thought.
Now I understand the idea of these Shelters doing a little screening to make sure that the person adopting the animal isn't some sick fuck who fucks animals, murders them or leaves them tied to a tree outside to fend for itself. But some of these requests and expectations are fucking nuts. Some of these shelters want to inspect your home, have you agree to let them "check-in" on you and your dog and basically run a full background check with a DNA sample and prostate exam. There expectations are somewhat unrealistic. Some of these places want you to agree to have someone home with the dog 24/7. There is a big difference between leaving a dog by itself for days and going to work for 10 hours while the Dog stays at home. It's like do you want these dogs to have a reasonable hope of being adopted so that they don't get a dose of death or would you rather me just outright lie and say I hit the powerball and have 100 million in the bank and will provide professional cooks and trainers to monitor the dog at every waking moment.
I'm a dog lover, but some of these wackjobs need drug into the street and shot. They just don't get it and take themselves way too fucking serious.

Yep. Predicted an Arizona/Cleveland SB. Arizona/Baltimore is awfully close.
I've decided to just embrace this parity era. The magic is gone anyways, so I'll just wallow in the league's mediocrity.
Hate the Cardinals? Don't worry! Next year the Vikings will go. Hate them too? Don't fret, because the Rams will go all the way the following season. Even if you're a Detroit fan, you're guaranteed a SB run at some point in the coming decade.
I'd say you were a lil off there James. The cardinals squeaked in and the Browns were the worst team in the AFC North and one of the worst in the league. I never follow this part of the forum, but if I did I'll honestly admit I would have picked the Giants to win it again. As much as I love Pittsburgh (born and raised bitches) I didn't think they'd make it after last year's showing in the Playoffs, but my boys have done me proud.

Pittsburgh is my team and the Steelers have been performing well all year. Pittsburgh doesn't get the attention other franchises get, but to suggest they're not a A-list team is nuts. We're talking about a team that has had some of the greatest players in the game and were the dominant team during Football's toughest era...Steel Curtain anyone?
Pittsburgh is a team that is consistently in the Playoffs and has an enormous fan base. I'm talking about real fans and not just people who buy a shirt or jersey cause they did good the year before. When I moved to Seattle, I expected to find no Steelers fans in sight. Sure enough there was an entire Northwest Steelers club at my local hooters who had the placed reserved every Sunday. How many other franchises have a fan base like that?
Pittsburgh has proven once again that defense is what gets you to championships and have the best defense in the league bar none. I won't go out on a limb and claim their victory of Arizona is absolute, but to suggest Pittsburgh won't pull in the audience a team like Dallas would is wack. Anyway, the Steelers are going all the way bitches and will be the first team to get 6 rings. The great part is they're not losing anyone next year and will be a great contender again. I see another dynasty being born in Pittsburgh just like the late 70s and early 80s era.

I will continue to vote for If The World until this mess is over. Based on every other board, TIL should be the winner, though I think Better will take it here.

Actually former cops are isolated from general population in prison.
Same for people who commit financial crimes too.
Actually I think that depends what state you're in. My father is the superintendent for a prison in West Virginia (I know, make fun all you want) which is primarily focused on special protection inmates. Most of the inmates are pedophiles and rapist, thought WV has kind of gone away from segregating people like that. There are cops and former prison guards in the population (one nearly killed my father in a dispute four years ago). Not the best source of information, but I also recall on The Shield when they were going to send Lem to prison they were worried about him being killed in the general population. Again, not exactly a credible source, but certainly something to consider.
#3958 Re: The Garden » Circuit City to close all stores » 904 weeks ago
What do you expect? They were competing in a very flooded market with lousy prices. What's the difference between Best Buy and Circuit City? Best Buy is bigger and sells more merchandise at better prices. There used to be an electronics franchise in the Ohio Valley (maybe it was larger than that) named SUN TV and Appliances. I remember when Circuit City opened up at our mall, everyone quit going to Sun and went there. About a year ago, a Best Buy opened up in the nearby shopping center. People started going there instead of circuit city.
I never had an issue with Circuit City. It was a nice computer parts stores back when buying your own parts was the savy thing to do. It's a fact the economy is sucking right now, and part of me feels bad for those who lose their job. But the other part of me says blame them. People with marketable skills don't stay unemployed. Simple as that and read into it what you will.
I've done almost every kind of job you can imagine. Cook at Long John Silvers, Sales Associate at Game Stop, Janitor, Concrete Layer, IS Support, Customer Service Rep and now I'm in the Army. Only in the Army did I ever feel any kind of job support, though even I know a day may come where they downsize the military and I go packing. America's sense of entitlement and refusal to live within its means are to blame for this fiasco. There is nothing wrong with shopping at Wal-Mart. What is wrong is when you live pay check to pay check cause you buy every new DVD or video game at Wal-Mart and don't save or have any investments. Enough preaching for now.

No I didn't see the video. You tube is a blocked website and I don't have the bandwidth or patience to go there on my personal computer.
