I'll change my vote from If The World to Scraped.  Personally I don't get all the hate towards Madagascar.  That's the song that hooked me into this new band.

#3982 Guns N' Roses » Questions for Axl if he visits GN'R Evolution » 909 weeks ago

Rather than follow the trend at the other sites where a bunch of people ask questions like "Hi Axl, I was at [insert city] in [insert country] in [insert year].  Do you remember me waving at you in row 30, seat 84C and what did you think of that show?"  we should formulate a list of questions that represent a higher level of knowledge of GN'R and the music than asking dumb shit about what his favorite song this year or color is.  We should take this opportunity to find out more about the band and the album.  I think we could use the MODs to help assist formulating a list of questions so a bunch of spammers don't come on and bog down the few minutes Axl is kind enought to give us with moronic fanboy crap.

So in the spirit of this idea, I'll propose the first question:

Axl, it has been said that there is a theme that persists through the album.  Generally it starts off with a sense of determination and maybe even anger, then it leads itself into a series of self-reflection and acceptance, ultimately coming to terms with the way you (we) are and how the world is.  My question is do you concur with this description of the album's progression and is there anyone in particular you're directing your lyrics towards in Sorry, This I Love etc.  I just want to thank you for making this album avaialble and I want you to know your music has gotten me through some incredibly tough times, especially more recently here in Iraq.

This is amazing.  I thought that GNRevo was kind of the black sheep of the forum and community because it didn't "toe the line" like the other two main forums.  It's nice, especially considering all the bullshit certain admins at others sites took to sterilize their forums, to see that a forum that doesn't purge disent is now getting alot of attention - even from Axl himself.  Kudos to James and the other Mods who have made this place the best GN'R forum and source for information there is.  Proof positive you can run a great GN'R site without having your nose covered in shit.

#3984 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy Chart Positions Thread » 910 weeks ago

The problem is a total lack of promotion and involvement from the band, namely Axl.  I don't watch MTV cause I have a brain and a dick between my legs, but I assume Kanye, Beyonce and Britney are all over the TV.  There is shit, nada, zilch from GN'R.  This album was only purchased by those who follow the band or the music industry because no one else knows about it.  All this talk about Azoff being this genius and the highlight of his marketing plan for 15 second videos that got occasional air play.

To those saying the managment should invest money into countries where it sold well in week 1, why?  Selling well in Switzerland means dick.  It could be #1 in Switzerland for a year and women could orgasm on the streets everytime they hear Axl's screech in Bern and it'd still be more advantageous if the Album stayed #10 in the US for a few weeks.  It's simple numbers.  I know people take pride in GN'R and it doing well in their nation, but there's 300 million people in the United States alone, compared with roughly 300 million people in Europe total.  If they want this album to do well, they need to fucking get Axl on Leno, Letterman, The Daily Show or whatever else is the flavor of the day with the masses.  Make a fucking video, and above all else, get out and tour.  This is fucking economics 101 and they're fucking it up.  This is an amazing album and blows the shit out of any other piece of plastic wrapped in the past few years.  That's what is so depressing.  This is a great album put out under one of the famous band's (if name only to appease the haters) and it's going to flop because there has been zero fucking promotion.

I have never believed in a reunion, but this fiasco does even more to harm the chances of that ever happening.  The press would eat the re-united band alive.  "Guns N' Roses gets back together after two album flops."  That's how the band is going to be portrayed.  And they will never get the feeling they had on AFD and the Illusions, so they'll be razzed for not hitting their mark there as well.  It's also just such a god damn tragedy.

Hidden Text:

I was totally shocked by Shane murdering his family.  I understand it at some level, but I nearly cried when it finally hit me when Ronnie told Vic.  There's a whole other dimension for me in the sadness of this ending.  I've been watching The Shield since the pilot episode when I was a freshman in college.  It's culmination for me symbolizes the end of that era of my life in many ways.

Axlin08,  you're review was fucking spot on.  You really nailed it.  I'd love to see Vic break Ronnie out of jail and keep doing his thing, but it'd ruin the importance of the finale.  It's just a shame when something you've let become apart of you finally comes to an end.  I got the same feeling when I got CD.  Years and years of anticipation and ideas - and now it's over.  That's life I guess.

#3986 Re: The Garden » Cyber Attack on Pentagon » 912 weeks ago

This is not big brother Pollux.  This is security.  Me surfing GNRevolution, while fun, serves no military purpose.  Furthermore, it could present a forum for me to say shit I'm not supposed to.  There is a world of difference between the Army stoppoing me from websurfing and sucking up valuable bandwidth and big brother blocking sites for civilians.  There is also a world of difference between big brother and an internet company stopping you from infecting their network (I assume you were on broadband, but even if you weren't...).   Government computers are not a place or medium to have fun on and treat as you would your personal computer.  Allowing people to hook up IPODs and other media devices are just begging to allow a trojan or virus onto a network.

#3987 Re: The Garden » Cyber Attack on Pentagon » 912 weeks ago

Oh yea, on a side note, the Army blocked me from surfing GNRevolution from a Gov computer, so I can only chat now over my shitty dial-up speed connection I get from some Phillipino guys here.

You guys have no idea how much of a bitch this is.  I can't go into details, but my Soldiers have spent the past week formatting and reinstalling computers out the ass.

Just reading over this thread it's incredible how mixed the reviews are. I honestly think there's one point in this thread where each song is absolutely praised and then absolutely destroyed by someone else.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is a great thing and it only continues to whet my appetite for hearing it on Thursday! 9

Great point and something everyone should keep in mind. Remember when Axl said 'You'll like at least a few songs...'? This is an absolute melting pot of sounds across a record with great depths. I love most kinds of music and I love every single song on the record.  I'm not getting hung up on the details. Imagine if we'd never heard a leak except that atrotious quality I.R.S from 5 years ago, we'd all being beating ourselves absolutely stupid right now without worrying about who plays which solo.

I really hope the other 10 or so unheard tracks out there don't leak and that for the next albums we all get to hear them for the first time the week before they're released.

Yes, we were absolutely fucking desperate, but in many ways, hearing all these leaks and demos has completely fucked up our enjoyment of the finished product and we're being ungrateful sods!

Someone hit the nail on the head.

#3990 Re: Guns N' Roses » CD now on sale, IN MEXICO » 913 weeks ago

Maybe I'm an idiot, but isn't the 13 points of light the remaining 13 tracks on CD?  There are 14 tracks right?  We've heard the final version of CD, meaning 13 are left.  Maybe you guys already gathered that, but that's what I am gathering.  I need to stay away from this.  Philosophy paper to write.
