If the original Oh My God had Duff and Matt, I don't think Duff being on the original Oklahoma (just not on this disc) or let's say Prostitute is that much of a stretch.

By original, I mean versions we're never going to here.

I seem to remember reading/hearing somewhere about fifteen-plus years ago that writing and recording "Prostitute" was part of the final straw for Duff, that he felt it was a thinly-veiled attack on Slash (personally, I don't see it much). Granted, that same person said the song had been renamed "Substitute," or possibly renamed from that, not sure. So it could have been completely pulled from someone's ass: separating truth from fiction across 20 years of silence and secrecy is easier said than done.

Is there any source for this?

Like I said, no. I read it somewhere 15-plus years ago and it could very easily have been some message board post that someone just pulled out of their ass.

Am I the only one who just can't get into Circus Maximus? The intro to it is just entirely too long, so if I'm listening to this stuff in the car on random and it comes up, I skip it rather than sit through it since I don't have an easy way to fast-forward past it.

That said, I gave Curly the boot on this round. There's potential there though; I also hate the abrupt ending to it.

I just sat down and read this for the first time, mostly since I didn't know it existed.

Jesus Rollerblading Christ. Well done.

Is there any chance we'll see a Vol. II that covers everything from the album's release on up to the reunion and/or follow-up album? That seems like it could almost be as much of a roller coaster as this whole thing is. And for my own selfish interests, it would cover the years that I was out of the loop on all things GNR so I could see what all I missed.

I think it's something else, because no matter how much the record was ignored, the story itself is a bit absurd, 20 cd's from a storage unit? There are still articles about an unpublished Beatles photos suddenly discovered in an attic somewhere.
I think the band asked the media not to report it for one reason or another, maybe, if we are getting new material in several months it has something to do with this, I don't know, but I don't think it's ignored because nobody cares.

That's the Beatles though: John, Paul, George, and Ringo are household names worldwide. Axl, Buckethead, Brain, etc. are not the Beatles.

If anything it's gotten me re-listening to CD again and comparing the leaked versions of the album tracks to the actual released tracks, and taking the instrumentals and trying to imagine how a full release would have sounded. That's part of why I think Atlas was dropped from the actual album-- can you imagine the collective outrage we would have had hearing "I'm Sorry" as an instrumental and wondering how the fuck it wasn't released as a full song?  But yet, in the final version of "Sorry," I'd rather have Atlas. It's a Catch-22 in a way.

It's turned me back into a leak-chaser again, but not to the psycho degree I was before CD where I would have given almost anything to get everything, and then doing things like sitting down and learning the guitar parts from There Was A Time as best I could. I wish I still had a piano, I'd try to figure out Me & My Elvis.

Outside of fans of the band, the prevailing thought would seem to be "Wow, rejected stuff from a terrible album? No thanks."

People in general, not just the media, are going to let their prejudices cause them to miss out. My wife isn't a GNR fan and she liked most of them when I played them for her.

When they got cut off from the supply lines, he was one of the guys who had to go out in the forest at night with it around 30 below zero to hunt deer for food and the SS were out there as well.

What regiment was he in? My great-uncle was 327th GIR, they were involved at the second day of Normandy (and linked the Utah beach head to the Omaha beach head). He would have been at the Bulge but died before it.

If/when Nothing and As It Began finish tied, can we just save ourselves a round and drop both and let the Battle Royale truly begin?

Hey, I just signed up. I was a longtime member of HTGTH until I got tired of Kim Jarmo Un's shit and pretty much just abandoned the place after Chinese Democracy got released-- just like every other member of the site. Seems like it's far more relaxed here.

Been getting back into the GNR world again after the recent leaks. I was pretty well out of the loop on minutiae like that for a few years, mostly since I figured it would never see the light of day. So I missed out on The General cellphone leak and Evader reconstruction; I didn't even know it was being used as a concert intro until recently.

Anyways, I'm Drew, was known as Mal Brossard or Duffman23235 over there. I'm 35 and live in DFW. That's all I got for now.
