We? Is that the royal we, or is it fair to say that this is something that everyone should decide for themselves?

Yes... Yes it does... 'cause you are...

There is literally (and I do mean literally) no semantic difference between saying "you are like a cancer, better off removed", "you are a cancer, better off removed" or "I consider you a cancer, better off removed". Everyone knows it's an analogy (no one seriously is saying that Axl thinks Slash is a malignant mass of faulty cells) and they are pissed at Axl for coming up with it.

I haven't seen this here yet, so here goes.

Apparently Slash has filed for divorce yesterday (the 30th), for the second time in 4 years. According to this article he and Perla have been separated since June. I wonder if the lack of follow through on World on Fire has anything to do with this, maybe too many things going on in his personal life?

Anyway here's the full article:

Slash reportedly filed divorce papers today (Dec. 30), citing irreconcilable differences with his wife of 13 years, Perla Hudson.
The Daily Mail and TMZ reported earlier today that Slash’s marriage was on the rocks, claiming that Perla flew to Hawaii with the couple’s two sons — London, 12, and Cash, 10. Perla reportedly gave Slash an ultimatum, telling him if their issues were not worked out by New Year’s, their marriage was over.
Later in the day, TMZ reported that the former Guns N’ Roses guitarist filed for divorce, listing the couple’s separation as June 15 and requesting joint custody of their children.
Slash once filed for divorce from Perla back in 2010, but the petition was withdrawn two months later. In 2011, the couple renewed their wedding vows.
Adding to the story, GNRTruth shared a photo of Slash and former love Meegan Hodges on Dec. 29. The picture shows the two embracing while Hodges plants a kiss on Slash’s cheek. The photo was accompanied by a message: “I love this man! <3 My heart My person. My best friend.”
Slash and Meegan Hodges
GNRTruth
Hodges tagged Erin Everly, who was once married to Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose, in the photo. Despite the photo, there’s no confirmation that Slash and Hodges are once again an item.
Stay tuned as news continues to develop.

You can't give away copyright, it is always intrinsically linked to the original author(s). You can license someone else to use/perform/resell/manage/make profit from your copyrighted material, but the author always retains performance and recording rights as well. I believe the way copyright registration is set up it always covers the whole song, it does not provide a way of assigning copyright to specific persons for specific parts or sections (so, for the AFD stuff for example, all then-members are authors of those entire songs).

So, there is nothing Axl can do to keep Slash (or Izzy, Duff, Bucket, Robin, Steven, ...) from performing or 'covering' songs that they have writing credits for.

I'm voting for Scott. Not because I want him to, but because they've done it before (for that charity gig).

I always laugh when people bitch about Israel. Yes NALTAV that's ISRAEL not ISREAL.

Especially when they call it: the occupied territories. Guess what? Israel won a bunch of wars, and when you win you get to keep the land. Or you give it back eventually.

Maybe you can argue that when you win you get to keep it, but Israel hasn't won yet so the fight goes on (or more precisely, the palestinians haven't given up yet). While this fight goes on, we look at the inhumanity of how the war is fought, and the way the Israelites are going about this is disgustingly inhumane. Just like we are going to condemn Putin's actions in Ukraine, just like we are going to condemn ISIS in Iraq, we are going to condemn the Israelites. Unless you really are saying that if Hitler had won the war no one would've been allowed to call him an asshole anymore?

When you have Westerners in places like Canada, the United States, and they bitch about Israel. I wonder when they're going to give their land back to the Native Americans. Or when Hawaii is going to be set free. Because we're going down that occupied road right, everything should be fair game if you don't believe Israel has the right to exist.

We should never forget the horrors that the European settlers have exacted upon the American natives, but the truth of the matter is that neither of these territories are contested anymore. Palestine/Israel is.

The fact of the matter is the jewish people have been their for thousands of years and are one of the most persecuted groups in the world.

Maybe, maybe not. But an eye for an eye is the lowest, most uncivilized form of justice I can think of. Also, in the 20th century other ethnic or religious groups have seen much larger populations being decimated by wars. You just need to look at Africa, where between 1900 and 1970 there have been more black people killed than than the entire Jewish population alive today. Sad as it might be, the holocaust isn't even the largest genocide of the century.

TheSundanceKid wrote:

When Hamas, recognizes Israel maybe there will finally be peace in the Middle East. Now I am not saying killing innocent civilians is ok. But, launching rockets into a country isn't either and Israel is defending itself.

Yes, they do have the right to defend themselves, but as you rightfully say killing innocent civilians is not ok. As long as Israel keeps doing that, they will be condemned for it by the international community.

TheSundanceKid wrote:

The question you have to ask yourself is, how many years does it become acceptable to have a piece of land before you know people forget about it?

Difficult to answer, but it should at least be after the other side has given up...

TheSundanceKid wrote:

When people recognize that Israel has a right to exist then peace can happen.

This is a sticking point to me, nothing in history tells me that the Jews have an inherent right to their own nation (just like the Christians, the Muslims, the Scientologists or any other religious group have no inherent right to their own nation). When people start realizing that everyone has the freedom of religion (or irreligion), regardless of where they are born; when they stop killing each other in the name of some god or holy book; when they stop forcing others to abide by their god's arbitrary set of rules, then and only then peace can happen.

And don't get me wrong, if there was someone here claiming the Palestinians were free of blame I would've ripped their argument apart as well. As Cramer says, both sides fail equally as human beings.

What an asshole.

Yeah, this is clearly a useful addition to the discussion...

How anyone can say that Axl can't (or shouldn't) practise to improve his singing is beyond me, but . Yes, he seems to be trying and he is showing some progress and deserves credit for thqt. But man, he's not even half where he needs to be to be anything but a shadow of his former self. They're not insulting your girlfriend or your mother, no need to get testie about it. If you disagree, fine, but don't act like a jerk and start insulting people 'cause of their opinions... that's what an asshole would do...

I am impressed. He did "Mickey it up" on more than a couple of occasions in the song but even when he did it at least held some power so it wasn't as offensive. He also seemed genuinely proud of his performance, which is always good to see. In that section right after the first solo (2:50 mark) he almost looks like he's looking around at his bandmates to see if they also heard how awesome he sounded there smile.

I always thought the shortness of breath and the Mickey voice are what made it unlistenable, but at least in moderation they are acceptable as long as he sing with power and gusto.

I'm really curious for opinions on "Good to be Alive" apart from Mikka I can't honestly remember seeing anyone mention it on the various incarnations of this forum.
Always thought it was strange given it was a single and the video got a lot of airplay on Rock video stations here. I think a lot of non hardcores liked it.

It's a great track, and a good showcase for the dirty groovy swagger most of the songs on the record have. Although it might not be the best of the lot overall, everything that makes the album great can be found in that song. But Beggars does the same and does it better, so that's why I think "Good to be Alive" gets mentioned a little bit less.
