there is a reason rolling stone has had several GNR scoops this year . . . THEY GET THEM DIRECTLY FROM AZOFF. the best buy/walmart story was given to billboard by azoff to punish rolling stone for refusing to pull their story about shackler's revenge leaking.

while everyone questioned the legitimacy of the 8/19 report on mistersaintlaurent.com, i got the majority of the information initially from a rolling stone reporter who was upset that azoff had so much influence over how the magazine covered the band.

and this, my friends, is what truth sounds like.
i mean - I'm not THERE - but this is how things go. RS and Billboard are in the entertainment business.

Azoff has already sealed a video game deal for Axl and is manipulating the media in favor of the band. He clearly is a professional, and what msl says make a lot of sense. So with a 'tentative' November date things are looking good on the surface.

What's working against it is of course the empiric facts. As long as Axl has a say there will always be the possibility of him backing out, once again.

Unless we hold it in our hands we just don't know. Even then I'm sure there will be doubters...:haha:

I like this. Copycats trying to recreate Jigsaws legacy. Could go on forever.

Most horror franchises only have one good film anyway. The sequels are there for the hardcore group, and in a way they are supposed to suck.

#4333 Re: The Sunset Strip » Most Recent Movie You've Seen » 924 weeks ago

Not the last, but definitely the best; "Network".

This Lumet classic from the mid seventies features stellar performances from stars like Holden, Duvall, Dunaway and Finch. Set in a news corporation you get a good look at how corporatism is starting to take over the media (and that was 30 years ago!) and how the common people is reacting to it.

One of the great great lines from this absolute classic:

You're beginning to believe the illusions we're spinning here, you're beginning to believe that the tube is reality and your own lives are unreal. You do. Why, whatever the tube tells you: you dress like the tube, you eat like the tube, you raise your children like the tube, you even think like the tube. This is mass madness, you maniacs. In God's name, you people are the real thing, WE are the illusion.

We'll tell you any shit you want to hear, we lie like hell.

The classic version of GNR was nothing more than a ballsier and more talented Nazareth. Go listen to Hair of the Dog and Expect No Mercy, then listen to AFD.

Or Aerosmith, The Stones, Stooges, Led Zeppelin etc...

Of course it doesn't sound the same. They were influenced, not copying.

That type of beat is ripped directly from NIN imo. It's the sort of thing Josh Freese is playing these days, which is sort of ironic because it's probably Brain on the track.

ahh but didnt Josh Freese write some of the original drum tracks for them only to be re-done by Brain?

There's no way this song dates back to Freese because Bucket wasn't in the band at that time. Now if my theory that Shackler's was previously two songs that are now put together is true, then Freese could have influenced the track.

Aren't all the songs basically 'put together' from different stuff?

I too doubt this is Freese though, going from the info that it is a BH/Brain song. But with the nature of this album there could be a May part from 98 in one verse, a Huge lick from 96 on the chorus and a Buckethead solo from 03 at end...on any given song.
