Shit, I don't have iTunes either. Someone needs to get at this. I've only ever bought mp3s off Amazon (and those Chinese Democracy downloads Best Buy gave away).

I hope so. They deserve it. If GN'R had a tenth of the marketing and management skills behind them that U2 does, man would things be different around here.

Guitarist Gilby Clarke (ex-GUNS N' ROSES), drummer Stephen Perkins (ex-JANE'S ADDICTION), bassist Daniel Schulman (ex-GARBAGE), and vocalist Eric Dover (ex-SLASH'S SNAKEPIT, ALICE COOPER, JELLYFISH) have joined forces in a new project called HALLOWEEN JACK. The band, which is "laying down an old-school glitter party that will cook your eardrums, blow your mind, and rock your world," will play its first North American concert on January 28 at the Dragonfly in Los Angeles.

I'm up, too. I assume you, Bono, and I will be the first here to hear it.

The Wrestler was one of the best films I've ever seen. Aronofsky has this rare ability to continually top himself as a filmmaker. I've appreciated and enjoyed each subsequent one of his movies more than the last. This is not only a career defining performance by Rourke, but one of the great film performances. Period.

"Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality. But... there is, unseen by most, an underworld, a place that is just as real, but not as brightly lit... a Darkside." The first season of the edge-of-the-seats creepy horror anthology series TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE makes its DVD debut February 10 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment.
In the vein of “The Twilight Zone” and “Creepshow,” each episode of TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE depicts a short, strange tale... with a twist. From Executive Producer George Romero, each episode of the acclaimed series boasted eerie and suspenseful story lines and took audiences on a new journey from the worlds of horror, fantasy and science fiction. The ground-breaking iconic series from the 1980s also featured an array of acclaimed performances from stars including Christian Slater (“My Own Worst Enemy”), Danny Aiello (“Do The Right Thing”), Tippi Hedren (“The Birds”) and Justine Bateman (“Family Ties”). Featuring all 24 episodes from the show’s inaugural season and commentary on the pilot episode from Romero, the three-disc TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE set is a definite must-have for any horror fan. TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: The First Season will be available for the suggested retail price of $39.99 US and $42.99 CAN.

Hell yes! Remember that thread where we voted for our favorite horror TV series? This one got my vote. I can't wait. Now all we need is an official release of Freddy's Nightmares.

i've heard a few people claim that best buy deal did not hurt cd's sales but saying it helped cd's sales???
"otherwise unnattainable sales" ???
that's rediculous
the 3/4 of a million cd's best buy is now marking down would have been sold a long time ago if they were available everywhere.
You should read my whole post. I was referring to Greatest Hits.

James is right. A lot of these big box retailers, perhaps most notoriously Best Buy, used albums such as GN'R GH set at rock bottom prices to drive casual listeners into the store who'd maybe then buy a new fridge or hi-def TV. On the plus side, it helped propel an album like that to the otherwise unattainable sales it's achieved. But again, that's how these stores operate. The demise of mom and pop record shops has only seen the big guys use CDs as little more than a cheap marketing ploy. The exclusive deal has probably already paid for itself as far as Best Buy's concerned, and that would have nothing to do with the album's actual sales.
