Yeah, no way. But I didn't think he'd go to a mediocre talk show either.
Spare me. Did you have a problem when Slash went on that same "mediocre" talk show time and again? I don't remember hearing those complaints.
Poor Jimmy Kimmel is taking a lot of unnecessary shots lately.
Guys, you misunderstood it. I have no problems at all with Axl going to Kimmel. I wouldn't have any problem with him visiting all the shows, or giving more interviews.
He just wasn't the kind of guy who went to a show. Period. He wasn't the kind of guy doing interviews. Period. When he did, he preferred keeping it big, like Rolling Stone or Billboard or Stern. Quite understandable, cause if you rarely speak, then you'd better speak to a larger audience. Period.
I just didn't expect him to visit Kimmel's show, which is in the middle of the late show hierarchy. That's all. I guess neither of you did. So if things changed (for an occasion, at least) in this dimension for the better, then maybe one day they will change in other dimensions of this band, of his life, too. That would make our experience better. That's all. No need to be that emotional, guys.

Guns N' Roses Poker Chip
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will be releasing Guns N' Roses commemorative chips on Friday, October 26that 10:00 am.
We produced 2,500 ($25.00 chips).
Line numbers will be distributed from the Casino Cage at 9:00 am and the release will be at 10:00 am.
That's cool that the place is stepping up to promote this event and using the new GNR logo to boot.
Exactly. I'm gonna buy one just for that reason. I've got one for The Black Crowes from The Palms and I think I have an Ozzy one from The Palms too.
Cool stuff. Tempting.

Ouch. It did and does hurt his shows. Maybe one day he'll skip Dexter to rehearse. The day he grows up or gets 90 percent of his ego removed.

Of course Axl is nowhere in sight
He took the pic, obviously.
No.

It depends how you define "hit".
Obviously there's chart success as a measure...but I would suggest that a song becoming ingrained in the public consciousness makes it a hit too.
Paradise City is covered in the opening title sequence of the $75m Tom Cruise movie "Rock of Ages" not because it's a deep album cut but because it was a hit with the public and is an anthem of the era.
Welcome to the Jungle is used extensively in sports programming because it's an exciting song with an aggressive tone that suits sports and people know the the song.
Everyone my age remembers T2 and the YCBM film clip with Arnie.
Sing knocking on heavens door at a pub and people will do an Axl impresion of the "aye aye aye yeaaahhh" bits.
Agree. Radios (not rock, but mainstream radios) still play Sweet Child, November Rain, Don't Cry and KOHD a LOT here. Not in every 5 minutes, like MTV Europe used to do it, but as often as any other big hit from 20-25 years or more.
Everybody, and when I say I really mean that everybody knows Jungle, Paradise City and the Terminator song You Could Be Mine. After 20 years, GN'R (and I mean the real GN'R) are still very popular and these songs are well known=hits.

I honestly don't think Axl is built for today's shitty age of music.
GNR were never a "singles" band if u think about it.
so its prob hard for Axl to sit and try to write a hit.
Then maybe he shouldn't try so hard and tinker so long, just let it flow.

This was great. I still listen it a few times a year.
#449 Re: Guns N' Roses » CD Riff Sounds Like "Louie Louie" » 674 weeks ago
its all power chords...and most of the time you stay within the first 7 frets and top 2 strings to play them so there is bound to be repetition from one song to another...donest even mean that he was influenced by louie louie or whatever...it happens, hell i accidentially figure out parts of random tunes all the time by just messing with standard chord and power chord shapes
but louie louie is standard tuning and cd is drop d...so its not the same
Yeah. A year ago I wrote a great acoustic intro... then I figured out it was 97% the same as Tesla's Love Song!

"That's kind of what's been cool about Guns: it's so spontaneous live, we've never followed a set list."
