I understand copyright law. I'm a screenwriter. I get fucked senseless over this. There are guys I know who are literally being robbed blind for their work. That isn't right. Saying we're ignorant to copyright law is pretty insulting, when every single deal we make has to do with copyright law. The fact are the facts.

No one says content creators know nothing about copyright laws; however most do not seem to grasp the impact of the new legislation that was proposed and would basically shift the task of policing the internet from the law to the content industry. I'm sure you'll agree that - whatever your stance on illegal downloading might be - no industry should be given the tools by law to take matters in their own hands, right?

If I have something copyrighted and there's a website that refuses to listen to me that I want it taken off, I can't do anything about it? I think not. That is MY WORK. I created it to make a profit. Period. End of story.

That's simply not true. The laws to enforce take-down of content already exist in the US, it's called the DMCA. The DMCA in and by itself is already going beyond what would be acceptable if applied to other industries, but it exists and is the law. And if sites refuse to take down content after a request from a content owner then recourse still exists for that content owner: drag the site into court and follow the same process as any other business would have to. Why does Hollywood feel it should be "relieved" from bothersome things like "a fair trial", the need to prove their allegations or concepts like people/organizations being "innocent until proven guilty"?

Wow, I am so disappointed by Duff's lack of insight on this topic. At one point in his rant he says something about the need for the government to be able to shut down sites that profit from online piracy. That's there already, plain and simple. It's called a fair trial with a due process. What SOPA and PIPA are trying to achieve is put the burden and responsibility of deciding when something is illegal in the hands of private companies. The Googles and the Facebooks of the world would be judge, jury and executioner in the world of intellectual property. And when they don't do a good enough job of it, they face draconian consequences in the form of being shut down completely, loosing all their funding, etc... even for those parts of their user generated content that are perfectly legit. No wonder they oppose this.

Why do the record and movie industries feel they deserve special treatment? Why do they feel that all this business with being innocent until proven guilty and burden of proof being theirs and all is fine for most things but not for fuckin' entertainment?

Most people opposing SOPA/PIPA aren't against it because of WHAT it tries to solve, they are against it because of HOW they are trying to solve it. I am personally also against what they are trying to solve, but that's another debate altogether.

My and my gf typically play split-screen multiplayer games. Currently playing Killzone 3, but we've played a variety of stuff like Resident Evil 5, Army of Two, the Resistance series. And a lot of the times we just take turns in single player games and watch each other play (Drake's Fortune series, LA Noir, Zelda, ...).

She digs basically anything that has a story smile.

But then again, she used to play WoW 7 or so years ago when it was first released, so she's kind of a geek 16

someone gave us the Game of Thrones Card Game...gotta check it out and see how to play this thing...looks complicated

A friend of mine has the board game, which is kinda fun to play if you're into the whole "big box" strategy board game thing. Didn't know there was a card game as well, gotta look into that.

I don't think he really is just a two trick pony when it comes to his voice & range. If you listen to the clips below I think you'll see that he can has some things in between super-clean and his crazy-angry-slipknot voice. Maybe he doesn't use it enough in his own song though...

Corey if F'n amazing though, granted i havent seen him live so i'm purely judging my opinon on the studio material that i have heard...jsut cuz you guys dont like metal doesnt mean that you can jstu ignore his talent level...cuz its pretty high IMO

This. He's an enigmatic frontman to see in action live. I've seen him both with Slipknot and Stone Sour and have been blown away by him on both occasions (not a Slipknot fan although they have some good songs, really like Stone Sour's first and second album). The rant at the beginning of this thread is exactly what you need to be able to expect from a rock n' roll frontman: they need to be opinionated assholes.

I might not agree with his point of view everytime, but I absolutely love the conviction in his delivery. It's great to listen to for his intonation and passion only.

It doesn't matter what you bring as much as how you bring it. But hey, I also think lyrics are of secondary importance to the melody and aggressiveness in a voice. A mnemonic to remember the melody by, not much more than that.

If you're doing something for the thanks, you're doing it for the wrong reason.

No! You need to know that the person who was on the receiving end of your generosity understands that usually you don't get things handed on a silver platter in life. A "Thank You" for a selfless act is the minimum you have to expect or you know you've wasted money on a spoiled little brat that takes everything for granted.

It's not about being thanked, it's about ensuring yourself that you didn't give a fair amount of cash to someone who doesn't value or deserve it.

Doing something selfless and not getting thanked is not going to stop me from doing it in the future, but I'll be damned if I ever do that specific person a favor ever again.

It certainly could, and it definitely would allow you more dynamic range for the rest of the frequency spectrum. What frequency is the low-cut at? Anything below 60Hz: feel free to discard (in almost all circumstances, except when recording bass or drums separately).

Your recordings being bass-heavy though, I'm not sure if the low-cut will do much. I think you probably need to make a cut in the 120 - 240hz region from the sounds of it. So, take any DAW program (audacity is decent and free), and cut about 2-3db around 180hz and that should help a lot. If it doesn't, move the center frequency about between the 120 and 240hz to hear what you like most.
