Axl Rose Threatens Suit Over Art Installation
Posted by Chris Harris on September 27, 2012 in Huh?, News

http://gunshyassassin.com/news/axl-rose … tallation/

Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose has the thinnest fucking skin imaginable, man.

TMZ.com claims Axl is threatening legal action against a Los Angeles photographer for allegedly making false statements about him in order to sell her pictures.

An attorney for Rose sent a cease-and-desist letter to Laura London over a downtown L.A. exhibit called “Once Upon A Time… Axl Rose Was My Neighbor.”

The exhibit claims to “mix actual documentary photographs of a circa-1990 graffiti vandalization of the residence of Erin Everly by her then-husband Axl Rose with London’s studio and location recreations and interpretations of the main characters in the story — the rock star Axl Rose, his wife Erin Everly, his former girlfriend Stephanie Seymour, Slash (the lead guitarist in the band) and the classic lineup from the Guns N’ Roses album Appetite For Destruction.”

Los Angeles confuses the fuck out of me.

According to the letter, Laura contends her main work — a shot of a garage door with “Sweet Child O’Die you R 1 of many nothing special” spray-painted on it — is a picture of Axl’s garage from years ago.

The photographer allegedly advertised the image by claiming that Axl himself spray-painted the garage during a fight with Erin Everly.

Axl says that’s not true, and the legal letter called the images “outrageous, false, fabricated and highly defamatory.”

Axl’s attorney writes: “Mr. Rose never spray-painted anything. Your salacious and inflammatory statements are plainly designed to garner attention and line your pockets with money.”

Rose wants an apology and retraction, and also wants the exhibit dissolved.

SO HERE WE GO:
SEPT. 2012 TODD "DAMMIT" KERNS Q&A with SLASH ARMY HUNGARY

1- Do you plan to come to Hungary?-What is your opinion about Hungary?

...I can't believe we haven't done Hungary yet. How has this not happened yet? I would love to check it out. We love checking out different countries and cities. I usually do the same thing in every city-Coffee shop, record shop, guitar shop, comic shop. I bet Hungary has lots of fun stuff

2- What is your favourite song from Apocalyptic Love, which one is the best to play live?

Anastasia is so epic live. It really has taken on a life of it's own. I always knew that song was special but it has become as big a highlight as Sweet Child O' Mine.

3- Which song would you like to play the most that you haven't originally played/recorded with Slash? ( from Slash's projects)

We are playing some of my favorite songs of all time not only just from Slash's catalogue. We've often entertained doing stuff from the Use Your Illusions records. We're doing almost all of Appetite in one form or another.

4- Is there a chance that you will sing on Slash's new album (like Izzy and Duff in the early days?)

Oh, I'm not so sure about that. That'd be wonderful and everything but Myles is the singer of this band and I'm a fan of his voice and his songwriting. Ya never know but that's not something I'm all that concerned with.

5- When will you come to to a tour in Europe agin? Is it already planned for 2013? Do you know any details about it already?

We will start in the UK in early October and work our way to Europe from there. Looking forward to that. We loooooove it over there.

6- How do you see the future in 5-10 years?-What are your plans?

My plans are very simple. Make music. Play music. Same as the last 5-10 years and the 5-10 before that. Hopefully with Slash and the lads but if not I'll still be rockin' somewhere.

7- Would you try yourself in another situation? E.g. Producer?

I've produced several records in Canada and I've even done a little acting. I've spread myself out here and there in my career but I know that playing music is my favorite and most comfortable thing. I like taking on new challenges here and there. I write a lot. Music, of course, but I also plan to write a book eventually.

8- What's your favourite film/song?

Favorite film would be Ridley Scott's ALIEN. It had a major impact on me as a kid. Favorite song off the top of my head is Jumping Jack Flash by the Stones. First song I ever remember hearing. It seeped into my self conscious and made me pursue the path I've been on ever since.

9- How do you see the future of the classic hard rock scene in the world?

I think rock music has always lived and died by live performances. If you can't play your music live don't bother. The future will be the same. Artists will and should be defined by their live performance. No backing tracks necessary here.

10- If you were lost on a desert island and you could only have 3CD's a book and one gadget with you which would they be?

That would be very tough.
1. KISS Alive!
2. The Ramones first album
3. Never Mind The Bullocks-Sex Pistols
Those are off the top of my head. Appetite For Destruction would be in there but seems obvious.
Of course some Cheap Trick and Alice Cooper and Iggy Pop and New York Dolls etc etc etc etc
Such a difficult question

11- What advice can you give for young aspiring musicians/bass players?

My advice would be never ever give up. Play because you love it not for money or fame. Music should be the reward. Everything else will follow.

12- What kind of music made you choose the bass guitar? What kind of teenager were you - a Rebel or a quiet one?

When I was little I was very quiet. I got louder and louder and louder. By my teens I was the loudest person imaginable.
I play guitar, bass, drums, keys, harmonica. I consider myself a musician. That means any of these things.
One doesn't choose music. It chooses you

14- What would be your dream-band?

Hmmm
Dave Grohl on drums.
Paul McCartney on bass
Keith Richards on guitar
And me!
(Lemmy and Iggy Pop are in there too)

15- What do you think is the most important thing in a band?-What does 'chemistry' mean to you in a band situation?

Chemistry is the most important thing. We all vibrate at the same frequency. I think one's ability to get along with other people is as important as one's musical ability. I'd rather play with someone with less ability who is a joy to be around versus a super talented asshole

16- You've toured a LOT this year playing in a lot of countries.-How do you deal with jet lag and adjusting to different time zones?

That is a challenge but I just sleep when I can. Playing onstage is always the great 'pick me up'. Travel can be exhausting. You really have to learn to pace yourself. I still haven't learned that particular skill.

SPECIAL BIG THANKS TO TODD FOR TAKING HIS PRECIOUS TIME & BALAZS, THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO SENT US THE QUESTIONS!

My all time favourite GN'R singer is Sebastian Bach. Shannon Hoon is a close second, then Izzy and Duff. Axl... never liked his style. I think any Black Sheep or Roadcrew singer would have done better. wink

Well, it's a paralel HTGTH world, but I still can't get how the LEAD GUITARIST OF GUNS N' ROSES can be this underrated among the band's fans. I can't get used to the Izzy myth either, but idolizing someone who has done jack shit in the band compared to him (anyone in the post-Slash era) is...insane. Sorry.

DJ is the right guy to get Axl to do something at the moment.  I didn't know it took him that quickly to develop it.  I looked over the details of the soundtrack a few days ago and he posted a ton of content about it on facebook and twitter. Sounds really cool!

At the moment? Dj's been in the band for more than 3 years. He failed to get Axl to the studio. Only the Lebeis' financial interest can make it happen.

#478 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Believe in Me » 677 weeks ago

Then he should search for the track list and go to youtube to listen them in that order. The full record isn't there, but the individual tracks are.

BTW I check stores regularly to buy a used Believe in me CD (I only have it on cassette), but I have yet to find one.

Another thing is the "damned if you do, damned if you don't" aspect of it as far as fans are concerned:

A video comes out without Robin, Bucket and Brain? "OOOOH AXL! YOU DIRTY FUCKER! TRYING TO PASS OFF THE NEW GUYS AS THE ONES WHO RECORDED BETTER!!!!" (fists shaking to the high heavens)

A video comes with WITH Robin, Bucket and Brain? "What the fuck is this?? Those guys weren't even in the band when the damn album was released?!?!?!" (fists shaking to the high heavens)

I see it as "do your stuff in time". The ever-changing line-up and the zillion postpones of the album were ridiculous, no wonder that the video concept suffered from the rotation. If they didn't realize by the end of 2008 that Robin had gone, then they were fools. Axl fucked it up. The whole post 1996 GN'R history, to be fair.

BTW he still doesn't get it. He's advertising this current line-up like it would be the original that "returns to the Ritz" or the one that made AFD. He'll never learn, he'll never change, hence he'll always fuck up his and his band's chances. Maybe in the end it looks like that he has to decide between two bad things, but he made his bed. Never forget that all the roads that lead to these situations were chosen by Axl.
