We know a large subset of the population isn’t going to get the vaccine. The ven diagrams of what ideologies and groups encompass this statistic is so diverse, trying to persuade them with a coherent message isn’t going to get a return on your investment.
I'm not demonizing them or whatever but some of these anti-vaxxers are stridently against this and no amount of money/incentive may move them to get vaccinated. Which is why I think it's a waste of time (along with the verification stuff you mentioned earlier). It's not all anti-Trump either. They had this one young person mid late 20s on the local news who got covid and was anti vax because she didn't trust the medical industry and vaccines in general. I just don't know how you "break through" and explain the pros of vaccination when they seem dead set against it.
The only way these people will get the vaccine (or spread the word) is if they catch covid/go into the hospital and get it. That is their come to Jesus to moment. And at that point it's almost too late.
Tl;dr I agree with you on this but think the $500 is a waste of time.

I have no idea and neither do you. It's just speculation. Viruses mutate.

52 Pickup - 1986
I can't believe it took me this long to see this. It's pure Tarantino. John Frankenheimer didn't put a lot of good films out in the 1980s, but man, this is basically French Connection meets Miami Vice. There's def a little cheese, and I think Roy Scheider was terribly miscast, but the vibe and the villains were outstanding. I really wish that they could re-edit by Tarantino with new music could turn this into a classic.
They don't have the balls to make this film today.
That film has one of my favorite endings. And yeah the main villan played by John Glover was great. Honestly, Sciender was a bit too clean to play the main guy. Needed more sleaze.
Mirror, Mirror 1990 horror film. Slow burner eventually gets interesting in the second half. I did like some of the kills and even though it goes into the familiar high school setting I found it interesting. The main actress Rainbow Harvest doesn't have a large discography (she quit after 1991) but she had a unique look. Oh, the chick from the Aerosmith video "Janie's got a gun" plays the other main character. In her imdb trivia or whatever it says she turned down the role of Brenda Walsh on 90210. Oops.

Just got home from shopping. Got the J and J booster while at Safeway.
It stung more than the last time. I also started feeling a bit nauseous on the way home.
I'm going to make me a couple sandwiches and lay down and watch a couple movies.
Surprisingly they handed me a 10% off your grocery bill coupon. It was supposed to be for your next shopping trip but I went ahead and used it.
I don't know if this is a local or national offer. I knew nothing about it.
I would just rest for the next few days. You'll get hammered by it at some point. You'll feel fine and all of a sudden you'll feel the energy crash and the need to rest. Yeah, I know I got a totally different booster but I would suspect that the side effects are similar.

Dumb ass..prove it or shut the fuck up
This is too much, dude, just stay out of the thread.
Aside from being rude, Mitch has a point. There has been no evidence that this came from a lab; I don't count conspiracy theories as a reliable source.

I don't trust big pharma...but I also don't trust a virus that might send me to my grave if I happen to catch it.
If this were the 1990s and I'm in my 20s....I probably wouldn't take it seriously. Would be much easier to laugh off the hysteria.
I'm not. I'm staring down the barrel of 50 and I'm not in the greatest of health. If possible, I'd like to live another 10-15 years. Out of the two choices in front of me, I had to go with the vaccine... regardless of how much money big pharma makes or how shady their past is.
Right. I think people kinda miss the big picture goal here. The goal is to live as long as you can and in some sort of comfort (health wise). And taking the vaccine increases the chances of this and doesn't harm it in anyway. I mean does anyone really want to deal with all these other issues just because they didn't get a free shot? Makes no sense to me but apparently there are millions who still don't want to get vaxxed.
Man, the pharmacist was right. I felt like crap yesterday and just slept or did nothing. I feel better but uh...this is not fun at all. Side effects from the Moderna booster in case anyone is confused.

Ugh, I feel like crap. First time I've felt blah from a vaccine. Not anything terrible, just really worn out. Like when you have a fever. Now I definitely think they should have paid my ass for this shot
Got a Moderna booster today. Already have a sore arm. Apparently, the pharmacist said I may get really tired tomorrow.

Everyone will have a different answer to this question...
My answer is threefold...
1) Guy crossed state lines...obtained a gun illegally and killed someone...that should matter whether it's Wisconsin, Utah or Japan...
2) He's now a hero
3) It's an excellent example of how the justice system treats people differently...as similar cases seem to be decided by a 'wheel of justice' depending on where you are...

Or why should Americans outside of Wisconsin care about this?
The riots were pretty politically charged already. The protests were widely supported, but there was huge friction about the riots and it was split down political lines: progressives tried to defend them, conservatives blasted them, while the majority of average Americans who supported the protests were against the rioting. It depended on The media you consumed.
The fact this kid was white, considered a trump supporter, was a fire bomb in an already combustible situation. A lot of it falls on the media for how it was portrayed. It really shouldn't have been a national story, and no one should have gotten so invested/obsessed/consumed in hating/supporting the kid.
It's hysterical he ended up being a BLM supporter.
I agree with both of these points. But I do agree with ID's point about the media. They just have a strange and (harmful to me) way of covering stories (or deciding what to cover) and just demonizing (or just hyping in one direction or another) and at some point you just end up getting turned off by the whole damned thing. I'm not supporting or condoning this guy. My point is about the media. And now I know why Lofton always harps on how fucking horrible these guys are.
I think it's more television because if you dig hard enough you can find a few decent print journalists. Probably because they don't have commentators or hosts masquerading as journalists (this happens on all news networks; so not singling anyone out).

Ransom - I hadn't watched this since it came out on VHS. I was pleasantly surprised. This is probably Gibson's best movie.
Jurassic Park - Another movie I hadn't watched in 25 years or so. I don't remember Goldblum's role being this small. After the first 20 minutes, he fades into the background and is an afterthought.
The FX still hold up.
I Am Sam - This movie does have some flaws and it drags but holy shit...how did Sean Penn not win the Oscar?
Flight - After Man on Fire, this is Denzel's best film.
The Game - Hadn't watched this in decades. It's a great film but the title gives it away and it lessens the impact. The horror film April Fool's Day suffers from this as well.
I prefer maybe Payback over Ransom, probably because it's so dark. But Ransom may be more fun
On the Game, I've watched it several times and now watch it for the psychological aspects of it. I don't think it's as bad as the Sixth sense in that regard. But yeah, for some people it's a one and done type of film
Um, on April Fools Day: are you talking about the 80s slasher film. Saw that like about a year ago and really liked it.

I usually check out of this section (Politics) whenever stuff gets personal. I mean this is just a message board. No need to hurl personal insults just because you don't agree with the other person.
