Only about 20 years to go before the estate releases new GN'R music. A realistic prospect, at least.

Guns N' Roses is being run like the Soviet Union under Stalin. Everybody scared to death of upsetting the despot and nobody takes any initiative to avoid incurring his wrath. But at least Stalin was interested in ruling. Axl isn't. He just wants to be the guy in charge. He's like Honorius or Commodus, doing anything but the things he's supposed to be doing.

This is actually really cool and should have happened a long time ago.

What is a VIP backdrop? Something to make you think Axl and Slash will be in the pic?
#485 Re: Guns N' Roses » 2023 Tour Dates » 168 weeks ago
I don't think I will go. I don't care about new music, it's about watching the band. But why would I do that? Last time I saw them it was without Slash, now they are effectively touring without Axl. The only reason to go is to say you've been there. But I already saw Axl and Slash in concert when they were younger so there really is no need to spend 500+ dollars to do it again.

The 70s had a great variation in entertainment. It was the "in between" decade where the old structures were dying and they tried a lot of new things before the corporations started buying everything in the 80s. Just look at the variety of films they made back then. Granted a lot of them were shit, but just a massive variety compared to the 60s. Music had a ton of subgenres coming up. Prog, punk, disco, reggea, hard rock, space rock, heavy metal. Lot of bands doing new things.

That goes double for the current geopolitical climate, in which the Russians they were playing for may very well be war criminals. So I can absolutely understand GN'R trying to purge this from the record.
Most dangerous band in the world.

I saw Roger Waters in Denmark in 2006. GN'R was there too so it was a pretty damn good festival. Show was amazing. He played Dark Side from front to back and almost all of Wish You Were Here. I can say this, he keeps giving the fans what Gilmour has refused to do since 1994.
He was less obvious about politics back then, but I remember one song "Leaving Beirut" which I thought was embarassing even as a 23 year old. That being said, the last decade or so has taught me how rare genuine artists have become. Axl, Slash they were genuine once, but now they are just empty shells, married to the establishment. Waters amazingly has kept the fire going throughout his life. I might not agree with a lot of his politics, and no doubt he can be an asshole, but he's not there to be my friend. As an artist he commands respect. I listened to his latest album which he made when he was 75 years old. It's pretty damn good. I can imagine if you put the whole Floyd into the mix that could have been an amazing Pink Floyd record. How many rockers can say this? If Axl made an album today it would be shit. Same with U2, Metallica and all of them. They're just old now, which is normal sure, but that just goes to show how special Waters is.
I always had sympathy for Gilmour. He seems like a nice guy and it must have been a strain to suffer the dominance of a man like Waters. But now he has not only lowered himself to Waters level, he has gone below it. Calling somebody a racist and a sexist when it is not really true is not something you do in todays climate. It's not just below the belt, it is potentially life shattering in terms of consequences for the victim. And on top of that his wife is the one delivering the blow, he's too cowardly to do it himself. It's all just really low and I lost alot of respect for him.
Waters is still Waters. Some good, some bad, but he is his own man. Gilmour has revealed himself as a pussy and a coward. He is sitting there like Pope David and refusing to do anything with Pink Floyd. Waters and Mason would have loved to do a tour, but Gilmour has an ego thing about Waters and Pink Floyd.

The cat doesn't eat it?

Killed my first mouse today. I suspect it is the same fella I gave a break last week, but this time he had to go.
I have a fucking cat, but the psychopath he is he just likes to chase the mouse around and torture it. So I have to step in as executioner and I tell you it is not pleasant. I can't put out traps because the damn cat would just get caught in them, so I put on some gloves, corner the little fucker. He goes under a shelf, I go under the shelf. He positions himself between the wall and the shelf, so I move the shelf. I take out a large ruler to try and nudge him out, but he keeps coming back. Instinct takes over and I decide to knock him in the head with the ruler. Keeps moving so I knock him again, and again, and again. Finally he lays somewhat still. I grab his tail, he doesn't have much left. I grab him with my glove, "okay now what?". I can't just squash him, that would be horrible. I can't put him on the ground and crush him with a stone either, because then he could run away again. Last time I took him down to the river and gave him a fighting shot, but apparently he recovered from that. At least he looked really similar.
So I see the fireplace, and this time it is lit. "I guess that will do the job". It does. I open the door and throw him in. That's that I'm thinking. Then as I'm walking away I can hear the sorry bastard screaming! I decide to stick around, as some form of respect. It doesn't take long for the silence to set in. Violence is hard I tell you, even for a little rodent.
