Screw this Tobias shit.
He'll always be Paul "Yoko" Huge to me.
And James... wasn't there some rumour of some affiliation you had with him years ago?
Affiliation? I thought everyone knew that James Lofton IS Paul Tobias...

#43 Re: The Sunset Strip » Aerosmith guitarist goes solo as band flounders » 818 weeks ago
Jeez some of this sounds like the mid nineties GNR stuff between Slash and Axl. FWIW, I've never understood why Aerosmith (specifically Steven Tyler) insists on using those hack outside writers to help them write songs. I'll be checking out some of Joe's solo material as I had no idea he was even releasing a solo album.
It's because their best-grossing pop songs have been written by people outside the band. That's what makes the most money. Even though songs like Don't Wanna Miss A Thing are non-traditional Aerosmith and are terrible compared with the rest of the band's catalogue, they make the most money and appeal to the masses. It seems to be a trade-off for the band. Should they exhaust themselves trying to write rock songs that will appeal to a small audience, or should they let other people write for them and earn more money to put toward their retirements? It seems like Tyler chooses the latter while the rest of the folks would rather the former.
In any event, if Aerosmith is over, it's disappointing. I was hoping to catch them on this tour if it got started up again.

Depends on the rules.
Conventionally, I'll stick with every sports standing board I've ever seen and call it 4th. Think about it... if teams ranked 1-8 make the playoffs, but they all have the same number of wins, the rest of the teams don't make the playoffs because they're ranked 2-7 with 8 teams tied at 1st.
There's generally some tie-breaking rule that keeps people from placing the same anyway. In sports, if teams have the same number of points, they can go with who has the most wins, goals for, etc.

First cartoon character on Playboy's front cover is Marge Simpson? I'm sorry, but Jessica Rabbit would've been a much better choice.
#47 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash Sahara Japan 5" CD SINGLE » 818 weeks ago
I'm not sure how songwriting credits work, but if Slash has a writing credit on Paradise City, I don't think he needs anyone else's permission to re-record the song. Think of all the greatest hits packages that are out there with re-recorded versions of songs from a band's older catalogue. The band could be made up of a bunch of different people, but because one or two of the main guys is still there, they don't have to do anything to get around it.
Re-recording an entire album is also completely different than re-recording a song or two.

They should give Irving Azoff the Nobel Peace Prize for saying they'll address this soon and not actually doing anything yet...

Don't look back in anger.
#50 Re: The Garden » ‘Humbled’ Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize » 818 weeks ago
They should've given it to PM Stephen Harper for learning to play Beatles tunes on the piano. It makes just as much sense.
Seriously... what has Obama done for peace? Attempt to close Guantanamo Bay (don't even get me started)? Try to develop an exit strategy for Iraq (we'll see...)? If someone says it's because he's the first black president, that's silly. It's not like he overcame adversity to do it, he was simply the better candidate.
"Strengthening international diplomacy"? What does that even mean? All politicians do that... at least the diplomatic ones do. That seriously looks more like a criticism of Bush than a strength of Obama. "Cooperation between peoples?" Should we give the award to all facilitators, mediators, and arbitrators? Judges contribute much more in this category than politicians ever could. Just saying.
I think its fucking hilarious that leaders like Roosevelt, Reagan, Churchill, Gandhi, etc. aren't worthy of such an award, but this guy is.
For the record, Roosevelt won it in 1906.
