I don't think the album failed cause people thought the booklet wasn't good.

Ali, you can sit there and fly the legal kite if you like but to the normal guy on the street this is as John so well put it:

"More boring petty bullshit from an insecure lamentable old fucking fart."

I find this lawsuit particularly pathetic as Axl prepares to follow Elton John down to Vegas with his AFD saturated residency.

The fact of the matter is that Axl has no problem using Slash's work when all the $$$ are going into his pocket, quite the different story when Slash looks to be making a few off the old band.

You are right. But in Axl's mind he's the good guy and the spirit ('the heart and soul') of Guns N' Roses, past, present and future, who deserves that money, and would deserve even more. But Slash is the Devil, who doesn't deserve a cent and never did, cause he, the Cancer always wanted to ruin the band, and his existance itself is an assault against Guns N' Roses, past, present and future.

With a clearer mind he'd see though that every time he uses the word "fraud", people will associate this with his "Guns N' Roses".

#494 Re: The Sunset Strip » Best Band: Mikka vs Neemo » 682 weeks ago

Neemo's band's great. Slash and Zakk in the same band... mindblowing 11 I have to agree that his choice of guitarists blows my duo, even with Jimmy Page.

Overall I still like my band better 16  I was looking for a bluesy, bit pscychedelic 70s vibe gang, and I think I made it. wink
Lenny Kravitz can sing anything, he's amazing. I always had the pipe dream of him singin' in a real rock band with such a talent behind him like Page. That'd place his performance on the top.
Jimmy Page... he's Jimmy Page. Cannot be topped.
Jack White is an amazing songwriter. Combine him with PAge and Kravitz, and you'll get the best sexy, rocky, innovating but true-to-the-roots album possible. He's not a monster player, but a monster songwriter. Since I think that many great White Stripes songs would sound even better with Lenny on vocals, I made the ultimate decision. I think it'd pay off in the real world.
John Myung...the Dream Theater guy is probably the best bass player alive. He'd provide a solid and unique background.
Matt Chamberlain from Tori Amos' band... I know that many here don't know him, but he's amazing. The John Bonham of our age, but with a more jazzy and psychedelic feel. I wish he's have played on Slash's first solo album. He, unlike many drummers, only hit when a hit is needed. But a very melodic and innovative drummer, his stuff turns everything to gold.
George Martin... the best producer ever. Lennon and McCartney were amazing talents, but Martin made the boy band into that psychedelic monster that made those incredible albums. His orchestrations are mindblowing, even for the zillionth listen.

Very great bands. BLS's guys would rock the Earth to a different Universe... but I'm sticking with the more melodic superheroes now.

#496 Re: The Sunset Strip » best band? MeWise vs Supa » 682 weeks ago

Tori Amos... I think she alone buries most of the bands of the world. She's terribly missing from my band, I was a fool not to choose her, but I thought she's more of a solo act. Tori + Freddie + Izzy + Morello + Claypool + Barker, a decent drummer = supaplex's band is probably my favourite to win (beside my band).

I like Wise's band though. Talented artists, for sure. I like everyone's band, to tell the truth.

Axl Rose Gets Mixed Result at Hearing in 'Guitar Hero' Lawsuit

A judge is set to toss one claim but keep another in ongoing case involving the Guns N' Roses singer's heartache when he saw Slash featured on the game cover.

On Tuesday, a hearing was held in a Los Angeles courtroom concerning a $20 million lawsuit brought by Axl Rose against Activision Blizzard for featuring former Guns N' Roses band-mate Slash in Guitar Hero III.

By the end of the hearing, the judge indicated that he was going to toss Rose's fraud claim but allow his breach-of-contract claim to continue, setting up a potential trial next February.

Rose's attorney Skip Miller promises it will be a "very interesting" affair.

In the suit, Rose and his Black Frog Music claimed that the video game publisher fraudulently induced him into authorizing "Welcome to the Jungle" for use in the popular game by telling him during negotiations that it wouldn't feature any reference to Slash, the guitarist with whom he has been famously feuding for years.

One of the big problems for Rose has been that the game was released on Oct. 28, 2007. The front cover of Guitar Hero III featured Slash in one of his classic poses. And yet, Rose's lawsuit wasn't filed until late November 2010 — more than three years after Rose's agent sent Activision an e-mail objecting. Activision's lawyers pointed out that Rose knew about the objectionable material for quite some time yet didn't file soon enough to be within the statute of limitations.

Why did Rose wait? In his own words...

"The reason I did not file a lawsuit is because Activision -- through my managers and representatives -- offered me a separate video game and other business proposals worth millions of dollars to resolve and settle my claims relating to GHIII," said the GnR' frontman in a deposition. "From December 2007 through November 2010, Activision was offering me a Guns N' Roses dedicated video game, a game dedicated to music from the 'Chinese Democracy' album, and other proposals."

Such possibilities will be of interest to GnR fans, but they might not make for good legal reasoning. Officially, Rose's lawyer attempted to argue that his claims did not accrue until he discovered that "Activision had been intentionally concealing its plans to use [Velvet Revolver] and Slash in the game all along."

But the judge isn't accepting that argument and appears ready to strike the fraud claim because the statute of limitations had expired.

The lawsuit came close to being tossed altogether over Activision's objection to Rose's breach of contract claim.

GNR Music, which administers publishing rights to the band's songs, licensed Activision to use the big "Jungle" hit. In a series of e-mails sent to Activision after a written synch license was executed, Rose's reps objected to Slash's image being used as an "avatar." Activision went ahead with the game anyway.

In the case, Activision argues that its agreement was with GNR Music, and that "Rose had no authority to enter into a license for 'Welcome to the Jungle' in his individual capacity because he does not own the song or the sound recording."

Activision says Rose himself confirmed this by saying, "Unanimous approval by all three partners of GNR Music is required before any license to use Guns N' Roses music is given."

The synch license was signed on the band's behalf by Wayne Milligan, a licensing administrator at Sussman & Associates. Milligan does work for GNR Music, but it has been Rose's contention that Milligan was also acting as his own personal agent.

Activision attempted to argue this was irrelevant, that there could be no breach of contract because Rose himself didn't have the authority to unilaterally make a deal.

But the judge is primed to allow Rose's breach of contract allegations to be settled at a trial, which is now scheduled for Feb. 1, 2013.

Miller says he's satisfied with the result, that the "damages and harm will be the same with a lower burden of proof" now that he doesn't need to show fraudulent concealment.

David Steinberg, the attorney at Mitchell Silberberg representing Activision, couldn't be reached for comment.

I just wonder what has happened with 'the boss' and his value system.

He seems happier than ever yet the bar for GNR is at an all time low (if you discount doing nothing at all which, at this stage I almost prefered - at least I could dream things would be great again).

recently he has been freely and agressively plundering the imagery around the old lineup to hock his wares; he obviously has NO interest in his current guys forming a solid identity with the fans.

So what is the plan? We've studied this guy for decades yet I just don't understand what is going on now or is going to happen. Things are nutty:

- Old AFD merchandise shipped the fanbase

- A Ritz show where only one man who was at the '88 one was there for the
   whole thing.

- Appetite style poster is back up in Vegas to celebrate 25 years of an album
that nobody who played on that album is around to play.

- Izzy blanking his most devoted fans and old bandmates at the RRHOF but
still flying to France to play a fucking wedding, a move so cheesy that even
an employee of Axl Rose went on twitter to complain about.

This is all stuff I just don't get.

Despite all their talk and the wishes of some parts of the fanbase, they are hungry for money. They are middle-aged men who lost their ambition, but got used to a lifestyle. Here lies the answer.

Hater.

DJ will anounce that they're writing new material, he himself wrote like a dozen tracks, Axl was very impressed, but he was even more impressed when heard Axl singin' in the shower. That song, working title: A Bath in Paris, can be something amazing people wouldn't expect from GN'R, but will love from the first moment. GN'R have very serious plans, the fans will not have to wait too long and can have a wonderful journey if everything turns out well. xoxoxo and don't forget to drink some Monster!

^ Hey he has to earn a living same as the rest of us.

I don't think that Axl will sleep at the very street where Slash has his star, if he doesn't make this band the parody of itself.

Face it, as a glorified wedding and casino band's owner, he has no ground anymore to call anyone a sell-out or preach about integrity, vision, art etc. Remember, he's the same person who's not interested in money and fame, who only cares about art. I could accept that he chose this way, as many declining rock god, if there wasn't the repeated bullshit talk.
