I personally love the album and think it was smart to get the upfront cash, but everything past that has been a disaster.

For those saying Axl is working on another 'version' of CD, would you actually buy it?? Would you have any problem dl'ing it?! I ask because no way do I buy ANOTHER copy of cd. Axl got my money, that's all from me. Do you think version II would sell a large number of copies? Like, over 100,000?
Unless the other version is a balls out rocker which kicked ass I think a second version of the same cd would just become a laughingstock & Axl considered more of a nutjob.

I only skimmed thru the first page of it, but some of the comments were pretty funny. Reminded me of old issues of Maxim back when it was good. I'll have to listen to some of those songs.

Yeah, sucks I lost Reggie Bush, he was on fire for about the first 8 weeks, then missed 4 & didn't do much since. He on the IR now so I had to start Julius Jones.

Wal-Mart has over THREE TIMES the stores Best Buy has.
If they'd put CD in Wal-Mart, coupled with WM's promo, it might've did better than Black Ice, if not went instant-platinum, and #1.
I think it's a daydream. If people had been so interested in Axl's version of Guns N' Roses, they would have managed to go to a BB or ordered it online.
I agree. The BB deal impeded it slightly, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it would have solde 4x's as many. Alot of it could be regions where Walmart outnumbers BB 2-1 or 3-1, but there still could be a BB within 30 minutes away. Granted, there's some areas where it's 1-2 hours, but I still don't think 75% of Americans don't have a BB nearby. Myb I'm wrong. It also still doesn't have anything to do with the lack of interviews, promotion, publicity, videos, or radio airplay.
Anyway, Axl made this bed, now he's got to sleep in it.

I just read 'Bleachers' by John Grisham. It was a really good read, short book, reads fast. It's about a former star QB from a small town down south who went on to college to be an all-star QB in college & has a bad knee injury. He never returned to his hometown & is now 15 years later & he hears their former coach is dying. He goes back to the town & reconvenes with alot of former players & they share stories & talk about the good ole days. Something he always didn't want to do. I recommend this book.

While I'm not "blaming" BB for the suffering sales, I do think they made a mistake in hosting the exclusive deal. Although, in fairness I'm sure the deal was worked out before the economic collapse. They're thinking was probably do cross promotion, get people in, and have them consider the low prices on HDTV's Blu Rays etc... However, since the recession is in full force, that isn't happening. Someone else said BB isn't like Walmart, where you go in, buy a cd, and also buy milk & eggs, or a $15 dollar shirt. If I recall correctly box stores like BB & CC don't make profit off of cd's. Which is why they were able to sell them at $9.99 & kill off music only stores & your mall cd shops (The Wall). They sell them at cost to them, & hope you also or someday soon go back to buy a camera, pc, printer, ink etc.. However, now with cost cutting in place (their profits went down 77% over last year http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081217/ap_ … best_buy_8 ) they have to find ways to reduce costs. Advertising campaigns promoting a $10 item which makes little to no profit to them is usually first on the list, as they'll usually focus their advertising campaigns on larger, higher profit margin items like HDTV's, Camera's, memory cards, PC's etc..
Again, I just think it was alot of things that led to this, but I don't leave out the fact Axl could have handled things alot better himself. Interviews, an SNL appearance, Letterman, Leno etc.
