I just don't know how Biden can be this fucking tone deaf.  I'm going to assume that the military guys/generals/advisors whatever know what they are talking about and looking at and probably advised him about the situation and all that entails pulling out like he did.

No, he isn't going to re-sign over this.  Americans (the general population) don't really care as much about this as you think.

That being said, the entire invasion of Afghanistan was about killing Bin Laden.  Once they accomplished that, they should have had an exit strategy.

Well and also Izzy isn't there as well.  In retrospect that 89 interview foreshadowed the breakup/problems recording Illusions.

You're right.  They're not friends.  I don't think it is as bad as VH where Eddie still couldn't stand DLR.  But these guys are business partners for the touring and the revenue that comes with it.

I lean left and even I can't defend this shit.  This is stupid on multiple levels.  It's not that he just withdrew troops.  It's the way he's doing it now and the corrosponding total chaos that is now happening.

Oh and we should not get into the habit of trying to spread "democracy" to one of these Middle East nations for a long time if ever again.

Well this is where having actual management during that time period would have helped.  Either go full blast with your solo project or go for the reunion with Slash and Duff.  Pick one and not both.

I never thought that announcing that the 99 lineup had re-recorded AFD was wise.  It just brought Slash/Duff back to the forefront even though they had left the band.

Oh well, that's what GNR post 95-2015 became anyway, just a cover band playing AFD/Lies and Illusion anyway.

A fb friend posted abojt Blowout, a 1981 John Travolta film. Its really cool & prolly him at his best, I dont recall any of his early movies being this good (not incl Pulp Fiction obvi). Its a Brian DiPalma film, rigbt around the time of Scarface. Not as violent or anything but all in all a good movie worth checking out. Those are some underrated years, late 70s early 80s.

Its free on Pluto TV if you have a Roku or Fire OTT type device

Love Blow Out.  I'm surprised you didn't mention it was filmed in Philly, which looks great.  Depalma is hit and miss for me though.

Rewatched Se7en for the first time in YEARS.  And wow, I totally noticed stuff that I didn't realize before.  It's a pretty bleak film in terms of most of the scenes.  And the Morgan Freeman character is really unhappy and is more or less a double of John Doe.  It rains a lot too in this film.  And yet, it all works perfectly for me.  It kinda rose above the  usual serial killer movie to this beautiful and wonderful 90s Neo Noir (I watch this stuff a lot).  I mean even conversations and scenes I totally ignored/wrote off on previous viewings have meaning or purpose.

I cannot get enough of the ninja turtles game as well as some old-school wrestling arcade games..

I remember the Ninja Turtles game!  The arcade one was always better than what they eventually released on the platform gaming systems.  I also remember playing the Simpson arcade game a lot as well.

Double Dragon, Contra and Rastan, which was a blatant ripoff of Conan, but it was fantastic. I used to love the Nintendo demo system in SEARS.

I remember the demo system as well.  I barely played it though.  Because it seems every time I went to Sears, it was always occupied/crowded or some asshole took forever to play and kept on hogging it.

It seems the press doesn't mind the song but other forums I seen are VERY mixed and a lot hate the song. I feel like a lot won't really give it a chance because it is a CD era song. Also it doesn't "sound" like GNR. I think HS would be better because it has more of the classic GNR sound and it was not played live in the CD era, so unless people are familiar with the era or the leaks, they will maybe think it is a new song. I seen a lot of people say the riff sounds like GNR even though the guitar work expect for the solos is pretty much the same as the BBF leak.

There's this forum I post at.  It's not a music site but does have a music section.  They pretty much HATED the song and said it sounds nothing like classic GNR.

Although someone who liked the guitar parts said that the chorus and lyrics were repetitive and boring.  This song was never going to be popular with people who grew up with AFD, Lies/ Illusion GNR.

I wonder if there is a rerecorded CD album with Slash and Duff on it somewhere just waiting to be released on a box set or whatever later on.

God I miss mall culture. We'll never have anything like it again.

It's truly the end of an era.... although they've been dying for 20 years.

Going to the mall on a random day, spotting various friends and random kids from school, eating pretzels drenched in mustard, all the girls, pop music blaring, the arcade, record stores....

What a time to be alive.

Having said that....I love watching those old Bill Hicks videos where he rants about his hatred of mall culture.

He makes valid points...and I agree as a middle aged jaded adult....but I was young back then and loved every minute of it.

I'm glad you brought this up.  Mall and arcade (or video game) culture just doesn't exist anymore. I mean half the time the malls are just places to me anyway, to compare online prices.  Back in the 80s and 90s, it was more social.

The arcades man.  I just remember going over to some mini arcade where they had Street Fighter II and watching them play for a bit.  And there was these other games too.  And then there was the smell of whatever food or drinks (there was ALWAYS an ICEE machine) were there.  Now it's all online gaming or whatever.  Kids now days ( I have two nephews who have basically grown up in 2010's and 2020s) have no idea what they were missing out on.  Arcades had a really familiar and pleasing smell.  It was a connection spot that brought people together.  It didn't matter about race, economics, or whatever.  It was just a place to hang out and relax.

Actually, I am 100% in favor of Axl becoming a studio-only musician. He can still get the job done very well in the studio where you can do multiple takes and so forth. He has wasted so much of his prime that I hate to think he spends a huge chunk of each year on Tour singing 30+ year old songs...when he could be working in the studio to produce new material. The Beatles stopped touring and became a better studio band. I would not mind seeing this with Axl, especially since we will eventually get to a point where he won't be able to sing at all (not even in the studio).

Interesting.  When I first read this, I thought maybe he's run out of things to write (lyrics) about and just wants to tour.  But then I thought about the current state of the world and well he's probably got a lot to say about that.

Oh, welcome back.
