#5241 Re: Guns N' Roses » A theory on Axl's silence...pure speculation. » 911 weeks ago
Interesting theory.. I'd guess it's something like a 3 month window, so we'll see. Only problem is once an albums been out for a while it's really hard to later on boost sales.

Plaxico Burress is an idiot!
Glad the Eagles went back to the run. It's a moot point though, come next season Andy will be throwing the ball 60 times a game again. Until we fall below .500, then he'll resort to the running game again. Happens every year. An 'offensive' coach, yet our defense keeps us in the season every year. Go figure.
#5243 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Steven Adler OWNS all new GNR drummers » 911 weeks ago
I don't know much about drumming, but if I'd have to say Steven was probably the least talented of them, but had a great, basic rock beat to his tracks. And as others have said had that youthful style of having fun & partying. His drum beats were pretty basic though, with a fill here & there. But I wouldn't say it was very technical.
I agree though, that was my favorite GnR sound. UYI had a change, not sure if I'd solely blame the drum sound, but it definitely changed. Not as drastic, but similar to Def Leppards change in sound from Pyromaniac (basic rock) to Hysteria (new sound, of course this was due to drummers car crash & loss of arm)
#5244 Re: The Garden » Crazed shoppers kills Wal Mart clerk. » 911 weeks ago
I just can't imagine how this happened. Did he get pushed over & take a nasty fall banging his head? Then people just kept walking past him?!
I can grasp the concept of people dying at rock concerts, I don't agree with it, but I can visualize it happening. This? No. Just absurd. I hope the people who did it have equal karma coming their way.
#5245 Re: Guns N' Roses » Horrible timeing for CD release. Press already moving on? » 911 weeks ago
I agree about 2002, plus bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit & Marilyn Manson were big then, GnR would have blown their doors off. Instead, their time kinda passed by a little bit now. A bit more irrelevant to the rock music scene. 6 years is pretty long.
#5246 Re: Guns N' Roses » Horrible timeing for CD release. Press already moving on? » 911 weeks ago
I don't think it was the timing that was solely the problem. Moreso it was the lack of promotion, interviews & having NO TOUR scheduled!!
This is why 2006 would have been great. Even if they continued on their short lived 2002 tour & released it spring of 2003. Now, this could have been corrected if Axl & the band did an interview (RS would have had a huge exclusive on it), do SNL (did great ratings this fall) &/or Letterman/Leno, and begin a tour this fall or winter.
Instead, they did nothing.
#5247 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl PWNS DR. PEPPER » 911 weeks ago
Pretty ridiculous. I agree Dr Pepper used GnR & CD for free publicity, then copped out when it came to owning up & took the cheap way out, but GnR should be focusing on other things. Also they shou8ldn't always be suing everybody. Sheeez, Metallica learned their lesson already.
Glad to see most people agree on all this & aren't just GnR nutswingers all the time. They were used, but really.... another lawsuit right now?
#5248 Re: The Garden » Telemarketer or Terrorist. » 911 weeks ago
I came across this in searching for any funny prank calls. Aside from Jerky Boys & Touchtone Terrorists I didn't find anything, until this one. I thought it was really good, figured I'd post it.

#5249 Re: Guns N' Roses » Is "Sorry" Axl's F.U. to the fans? » 911 weeks ago
I think it's about the pressures of mgmt & record industry execs, media etc.. Just pressure of being a rock star.
One verse which makes me pretty sure it's NOT about the fans is:
You tell them stories they'd rather believe
Use an' confuse them
They're numb and naive
Because the "They" in those lines has to be the fans. So the "You" would be somebody else.

Musically, the arangement of this song reminds me of "We are tthe Champions" in a way..
Queen:
But it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise
GnR
You've got all the answers
You know everything
Queen:
We are the champions
my friend
GnR
I'm sorry for you
Not sorry for me
