Elvis Presley, John Lennon and Micheal Jackson.

True giants of music.  I think the only ones left are McCartney and perhaps Mick Jagger.  We'll never see someone else Like Michael or Elvis.

If anything comes close to the death of Elvis as far as death of a music artist it has to be Michael Jackson's deat.  A huge blow to the music world.  RIP Michael and thanks for all the great music you left us to remember you by.

Wether you're a dude or a chic I don't know but son you need to stop taking drugs.  CD ain't better than exile on main street and for heaven's sake it is NOT the greatest record of all time.  It is not the worst but not the best.  I can think of at least 10 records that were better than CD without trying.

That just means the band never really meant something to you, which is ok.  To some people, the band and the music played a huge role in our lives.  You can't discount that because you weren't emotionally involved.  Others were.  Some still are.  There's nothing wrong with that.  I understand the people on the other side of the spectrum from me.  I don't always agree with them or get what they are saying, but I can relate to being passionate about the music that means something to them.  I respect it even when I don't get it (like the Robin love for example).

The band does mean something to us, to an extent. The original line up didn't leave a huge hole for me. I loved AFD and UYI, but I really wasn't devastated when the original line up dissolved.... And to be honest, when I heard Axl had put together a new band, and who those members were, I was more excited about GNR than I ever had been. And Robin was a big part of that. But that excitement pretty much fizzled from what it was. I'm still interested, but the potential that was there will never be lived up to. Which is sadder to me than anything involving GNR.

I wouldn't say the band means nothing to us, it obviously does. We just have a different attachment to the band and our outlooks are VASTLY different. I don't really get the anger. And I've given up responding to instigating digs at the new line up and Robin because I know where it's coming from. And I do respect how people feel about it and I bite my tongue a lot because of it. But for the most part I think the members on this board, despite all the shit that goes back and forth, are pretty respectful and tolerant of each others views. Even though it might have taken a while. 16

See I don't get that.  When Izzy, Slash and Duff left, to me GNR died.  And when I heard Axl was coming back with new guys.  To me it was a solo effort.  While I was excited and wanted to hear what he would come up with.  Robin was a non factor to me cause he was an unknown.  The only guy that really got me curious was Buckethead.  I thought it was a great idea to have him onboard.  Makes people talk.  When Bucket left all chances of Axl making this successful went away.  But the new lineup NEVER got me as excited as to who was truly GNR.

At least somebody would sing Jovi's songs in the right key. 1619

Now come on Russ!  You're just in a pissy mood cause the Wings lost last night.  Jon ain't that bad.  Not the best but not that bad.  Although I think Axl could sing an amazing Wanted dead or alive.  19

I haven't met anyone in person yet that owns the album.

Well, you keep saying that over and over.

Who gives a shit? As long as you, me or whoever likes it does it really matter if anyone else you personally know owns it or not?

I don't care if Chinese Democracy would've sold one copy or hundered million copies, it wouldn't change how I feel about the record itself.

That same thing goes for how "relevant" the band is today...

I hate that word. If I like an artist or a band it doesn't matter how active they are or used to be.

It doesn't always have to be about this or that. Just enjoy what you've got and deal with it.

You may not care if GNR is relevant or not or doesn't sell.  But if they don't sell albums or tix well you'll see GNR less and less.  Oh wait sorry it won't change a thing since we don't see Axl anyways.  tongue

IMO, Hair Metal is frowned upon because it sucked. Simple as that. There was some good bands but overall, it was brutally bad.

I'm not frowning on hair metal more than other artists.  I like some hair metal bands.  I like Def Leppard, Bon Jovi and a few others.  While I like Def Leppard, I have to admit that they ain't what they used to be as far as popularity goes.
