#551 Re: Guns N' Roses » We don't really expect a new setlist do we? » 249 weeks ago

I think forum fans forget that they make up a very small fraction of the fan base.  Most people don't spend hours scouring youtube to watch bootleg clips of every performance and then opine on it.  I was in Section B, 23 rows back Saturday.  Bought those with the Nighttrain pre-sale.  So everyone around me should have had at least one friend who was a diehard and could sing every lyric to not only UYI material, but CD as well,, right?  That was my expectation, but these shows aren't the Hammerstein in '06.  When Chinese Democracy and Better were played, I was the only one singing along.  Same with Dead Horse and DTJ.  Yet when KOHD or SCOM were played, everyone joined in.

If you want the perfect rendition of a song, you have the album.  Vinyl preferably with a several hundred dollar sound system.  This is a tour, and since we're still talking about Hershey, the first tour in over a year.  I'm not making excuses for Axl's inability to even sing an entire song or the sound hiccups.  I had a great time and would buy my tickets all over again.  Seeing GN'R every 4-5 years is a relatively inexpensive hobby all things considered.  But 99% of the people at the concert aren't checking in on a forum or comparing set lists.  They're drinking their $10 beers and enjoying a live show, and all that goes with that.  That 99% is who all bands cater to when they perform.  They already know most of us will buy the fanclub membership and attend a show.  If we don't, there are plenty of 20 somethings and teens who found their mom or dad's collection or discovered GN'R on YouTube and this is all brand new for them.

I installed Avast recently to have something a little stronger than Windows Defender.

9 months tomorrow for me. Can’t recommend it enough. Television network news has become nothing but outrage generators. Both sides telling you how bad it is and why you should be angry. An information service that profits off how angry it makes you isn’t healthy for any nation.

One thing I haven’t seen any comments on is how much weight Frank lost during lockdown. He looks really good.

They definitely had sound issues. Neither Axl or Melissa were coming through on Better. But if people are solely blaming the sound board and not acknowledging Axl didn’t have the stamina to give 100%, they’re not being honest.

I saw Axl talking into the mic nearly every song when he wasn’t singing communicating to the engineers. Setting up the piano for November Rain wasn’t easy. This was their first tour in over a year, so I forgive the kinks and had a great time. But absolutely, Axl was not prepared for this show.

Slither was embarrassingly bad. Axl can’t sing that in the range Weiland did, and the Mickey voice during the chorus is grating.

Band was tight, but Axl needs to work on his breathing. He just mouthed half the lyrics towards the end so he could snag a breath. He doesn’t need to be seen as Vince Neil.

Randall, how was Wolfgang/Mammoth?

Surprisingly good. They sat 5 feet from me when Guns took stage and the entire audience gave them a standing ovation as they took their seats.

I was there, 20 rows back. Great show, but Axl clearly had sound issues as half the lyrics on Better didn’t come through the PA and he ran off to get oxygen more than I thought. Had a great time

The forum isn't allowing me to create a new topic, so I'll post it here:

I'm seeing them this Saturday and wanted to know if anyone had an idea of when Guns would take stage.  I just got an email that the event was not starting at 6 instead of 7, but know that Wolfgang is opening and I assume another act will be on before him.  I have no interest in seeing either opening act, so I'm trying to figure what time I need to be there to be seated before Guns starts their show.
