Trying desperately to finish Heavy Rain. Story is WAAAAAAYYYY too slow moving for my tastes. I have a day off tomorrow. I'm gonna try again. If I can't finish it tomorrow it's going in for trade in.

I'm absolutely engrossed by this game. I love the fact that the story is paced so slow, gives me time to soak in the repercussions of my actions. Bought it last Sunday, and I've played it for four hours consecutively on monday, 4 hours on tuesday and 3 last night. It's been ages since I've been pulled in by a game this much.

I will admit though, that I have always been an adventure game lover. My fav all time game is Little Big Adventure (Relentless). Hmmmm, maybe I just like games by strange French guys? wink

Now this I don't like. The breakdown in the middle is pretty cool, but the song itself doesn't grab me by the balls, sounds kinda muffled, deprived of its oomphf. Love Slash's sound though

I can't remember if I've posted this here but am I the only one who found this track to be very 'meh'? Kind of a bore. Enjoyed the solo at least.

Same here. Good solo. I just can't take that dude's voice, or the lyrics.

I tried... I swear I tried.

Odd, I absolutely loved it. And don't care for Wolfmother otherwise. I love the main lick and the chord progression.

I agree with your thoughts, but recording technology improved a lot between 1987 and 1991. I think the first Snakepit album is the perfect production of rock guitar sound.

Absolutely. IFOCS is guitar production heaven. And I know technology changed a lot, but production style as well and although AFD wasn't following any trends by any means it does have some stylistic elements that really date it. Doesn't change the fact that it's a brilliant album and musically GNR's best (imho), but a re-recorded version of that album with modern production techniques (although blasphemy in terms of lighting-in-a-bottle striking abilities) is definitely something I would like to hear - purely out of audio-geek interest.

I always found the production on AFD to be it's weakest point. It's straight forward and raw, but the guitars lack the finesse that you find on UYI. Other than that, the drums are way to heavy on the reverb and the overheads/hi-hat are too loud in the mix. The bass could probably carry the sound a bit more as well, to fill the sonic spectrum.

As for UYI, just go listen to the intro to Don't Damn Me to hear the perfect recorded representation of a full guitar sound. And this without the current bag of tricks of doubling and re-amping used all over the place (I'm guilty of that too... it's just so much easier to get a full sound that way wink ).

sweet, sweet sounding song!
Sounds quite up-to-date for a Slash composition as well, I'm impressed.

Oh boy, I'm going to get some flack for this, but... I really liked that paradise city cover. The dropped tempo doesn't really bother me, the beats are done well, and I absoltely love Fergie's voice.
At the very least I have to say it's miles and miles better than that rap cover that came out back in the mid nineties with the 80's hair metal singer doing the chorus... can't find it on youtube, but that's probably a good thing smile. Anyone remember that one?

Ah roadrunner, the last great - albeit commercial - record label... At the very least it's a step up from "Koch" wink

Mole, Windows comes with Wordpad and Microsoft Works which are definitely a lot better than TextEdit.

Didn't know about Works shipping with Windows these days. What's the word processor like? Any reason to buy Word for the average home user then?

As for TextEdit vs. Wordpad... meh... they're both inadequate smile.

gedit is a great code editor, but it's not really a word processor, not even a light one smile. I use openoffice, although I like the look and feel of abiword.
