He has the worst work ethic of any major superstar musician EVER.  I was reading that Ozzy Osbourne (who has Parkinson's now) is releasing his second album in the 2020's.  He's in his 70s.  On that 2020 album, Duff plays on the majority of the tracks and Slash guests on a couple of tracks.  So at least those guys are, gasp, releasing new music.

I'm the same way. There's a small handful of actors I keep tabs on once in awhile and will sometimes check out a new space or horror movie but other than that....

I don't give a shit.

It's not just age. Our culture is garbage. They are scraping the bottom of the barrel for talent....and the current generation is not getting anyone on the level to replace outgoing icons like Eastwood, Pacino, DeNiro, etc or directors like Spielberg, Coppola, etc.

Interesting that you mention horror, I've actually watched some horror films (mostly 80s)  during the pandemic and they are really fun films.  I mean they don't take themselves seriously but they are usually fun and well made.  Chopping Mall, April Fool's Day, and Spookies are a few that I remember.

Yeah, once those icons pass on, there will be shit.

Anyway re-watched Clueless the other day.  It still holds up.  Witty and funny and Alicia Silverstone is at her best here.  I laughed at some of the outdated references but so what.  Totally forgot that Jeremy Sisto was in this film.

Silverstone was always at her best as eye candy and a supporting actress type.  She definitely struck when the iron was hot.

Even more interesting, this Republican Civil War is on full display right now. One way or another Trump is going to be the downfall of this iteration of the republican party.

This is insane.  Liz Chaney is not a liberal.  She is an old school Republican.  She is getting "punished" because she doesn't believe in the big lie that is being peddled and chooses to live in reality.

McCarthy looks like a weak and awful leader on this.

Got my second shot Friday afternoon, Moderna. Went good, in & out, no line whatsoever at Philly's Convention Center, their large wholesale shot place. Wasn't sick but was very tired Monday & Tuesday, not sure if it was a result of it.

I can agree with you Flagg, $1100 week was high, was that the blanket amount?  Like even people working $10/hr in retail were getting that?

It's amusing how 2 years ago Andrew Yang was considered wacky for suggesting a base income to all, yet here we are. It's been a crazy year+ but I think it's ending and we've seen the light at the end of the tunnel. Could be a bad flu/sick season next winter, let's hope these variants don't spread outta control and we don't need boosters again anytime soon. Restaurants & bars will likely struggle a bit in the wintertime, not sure I'd go out to eat in Dec/Jan etc, but glad it's ending.

I'm going for my second shot tomorrow (Pfizer).  Glad it wasn't today since I had allergies and had to take an antihistamine last night.

I think there should be some sort of stipend/cost of living adjustment for people in low paying jobs just to reach above the poverty level.  That being said, there is something totally wrong with the system if you could collect unemployment and it was still more than you made working.

Tawny Kitaen died. She was 59. RIP.

I need to watch Witchboard. That was a great movie back in the day. I wonder if it holds up?

She was all over the place back in 87-88. Surprising it didn't lead to bigger things.

Damn.  RIP.  Those Whitesnake videos were in the MTV rotation a lot during the late 80s-early 90s when I watched MTV religiously.

It's weird outside of those Whitesnake videos I remember her from that one episode of Seinfeld and...when she got arrested in 2002 for spousal abuse on her  (former)husband Chuck Finley, who was pitching for the Indians at the time.  It says that she also dated OJ Simpson in the early 90s.  I'm guessing after she divorced Coverdale and pre OJ murders.

Anyway, farewell to another small part of my youth.

Shampoo. I'm not a big Beatty fan but this was pretty good.  It was quite hiliarious at times and did a nice job of being a political/economics satire as well as chronicling the shifting from the 60s to the 70s.  It also worked on a dramatic level for me.

Suspiria (1977) original.  I saw this years ago and found it rather overrated.  So I watched a restored version of it.  Anyway, wow!  This is a really beautiful film to look at.  The plot isn't the best in the Argento canon (Inferno, Tenebrae, and the 1980s Jennifer Connelly one are better) but it's got atmosphere and style in spades.

Retroactive (1997)  B movie thriller starring James Belushi and some hot 90s actress named Kylie Travis.  Very watchable.  One of those "multiple" retry storylines (like Source Code).  There are enough twists and thrills to keep one occupied for the 90 mins runtime.  Oh and Belushi is clearly overacting all over the place.  But he's having fun.

One last note: Why is it I have ZERO interest in anything new Hollywood puts out?  I'd rather watch any and all old movies than anything new (foreign films, exempt here).  The last "new" movie I tried to watch was that Carey Mulligan film and I turned that off after 15 mins.

Oh wait, I'm looking forward to a Nicholas Cage film coming out.  But that's because it's directed by a Japanese director whose films I've seen a lot of.

I don't understand all the doom and gloom.  Of course I don't agree with everything the Biden admin is doing, but it's largely business as usual.  He doesn't have the votes to implement the wacky shit the progressives want, and members of his own party have stood firm in opposing a massive power grab.  Kudos to Manchin, Sinema and Kelly.

No court packing, no removing the filibuster, and no using reconciliation to bypass rules that have been implemented for over a century.  Maybe they can work together on the much needed infrastructure plan.  Maybe they can work on immigration.  It's all but assured the GOP will reclaim Congress in 20 months with historical precedent and the political landscape.  I'd much rather the hyper partisanship nonsense end, and the moderates in both party's working together to find middle ground solutions to our problems.  We saw both sides be completes asses and hypocrites during Obama and Trump.  Maybe it's time for our legislature to do their damn jobs and ignore the mouth breathers on twitter and network media.

Are you totally sure about them reclaiming Congress in 2022?  There are a fair amount of retirements in the GOP.  That being said,  I agree with you.  I really wish both sides would stop fucking around and just pass the bill.  I mean there is no real reason for this thing to be drawn out/kabuki'd.  This is a infrastructure bill and not a Supreme Court justice nomination.

Faux outrage and cancel culture is destroying our culture.  Old TV shows and movies getting shit on. Some of them will require an intro added explaining to the dipshits why it's wrong. Certain books are unacceptable.  If you happen to say something now or 10-20 years ago that sets off their outrage radar, there goes their career down the tubes.

It's like people are just complaining and not taking context into this at all.  I browsed through some list of some worst Oscar winner lists from some Millenial and it was utter garbage.  Nothing about the films itself, most of them were the poor racial portrayal, or the gay character wasn't accurately portrayed.  It had nothing to do with the movies themselves. I mean did this author ever think that the movie business/Hollywood wasn't as inclusive as it is now.  I mean, they didn't intentionally do this.  So to shit on some film just because of some inaccuracy is dumb to me.

Same thing with people complaining about Christmas.  Just let it be and quit complaining about it.  People are happy to give and receive gifts all those other complaints annoy me.

*if* Axl is still reading the forums, I'm sure he'll take this as another "he doesn't care about the fans" stuff. We're all well beyond that shit, it's really just sadness at all this time and wasted opportunities. He could always respond more in-depthly than he has, and not through 'certain' posters, but we know...

Would it be so time consuming for him to just post a simple sentence or two of what's going on in the band?  I mean every musician does this.  The mystery/silence shit gets old fast.  No ones is asking for long epic type updates or a gazillion tweets.  But just a nice progress update.

He didn't deserve them.

They deserved someone like Chris Cornell or Lindsey Buckingham who not only sees the potential....but acts on it. Someone like that could've went on a 4-5 year run with the 2000-01 lineup....two or three albums.

That wasn't GNR ....it was a supergroup that essentially sat idle until it started falling apart piece by piece. It should've been treated like one and marketed as one.

By the time 2006-07 rolls around, it's just a shell of what it was.

I said it years ago.....

By the time 2002 rolled around and nothing was happening, they all should've bailed out and started their own project.

They were on fire those first few years.

His problem was that despite what he said, he was still hung up on the old band.  The supergroup he assembled became the minor project at some point.  If he wanted to shed the image/history of the 87-93 era, he should have fully embraced these guys.  I mean look at Slash.  He does VR, his solo stuff and devotes his full time and energy to these projects.  I know Axl had issues with the label and shit but most of the setlists from the aborted/disaster tours of the early 2000s were still majority AFD/Illusion/Lies setlists.

I have to be honest.  I hang around this place for the off topic parts of the forum.  I've given up on them release anything significant at this point (doesn't have to be a new album).

What? Is this about focusing on women or talking about things you're not interested in? The libraries of these companies are far more profitable than the current product. That's the point.

I agree here.  Both WWE and ESPN are shit now but people pay (technically companies) for what the brand name was.  Not really sure how this connects to Trump or the California recall though.
