#6511 Re: The Garden » John McCain says "I don't really understand economics" » 954 weeks ago
It's going to be a tight race, no doubt, but Democrats are more scared of McCain than any other Republican candidate.
That's because he's the least horrible out of all of them
Good grief, I couldn't imagine Romney or Huckabee running this country. Romney reminds me of a guy who should be playing President in a movie, like "Independence Day"
This elections starting to really dwindle down. Next Tuesday will be huge. McCain seems to be taking it for the Republicans, and Obama right now is gaining on Hillary. No way Super Tuesday ends it for the Dems, but I think McCain could just about win it that day. It'll be an interesting day to say the least.

I am surprised his 'economics' statement didn't cause more of an uproar. I'm not saying it should have (I give the guy credit for being honest in a way, although it was a stupid thing to say), also in FL he said he felt the economy will be ok, and the big point of the election was the war. Tim Russert stopped him & questioned him on it, asking 'Are you sure about that?" and McCain confirmed yes.
I'm not saying he shouldn't be President for saying that, but if Howard Dean can lose it because he screamed "Yeaahhhhhh!!!", this certainly could have tanked his candidacy. Strange world we live in. Sometimes I wonder if there are people in the media making decisions on things like that & what stories make it big. (Ron Paul beating Guiliani in every state until FL yet getting nowhere near as much attention). just a thought.
#6513 Re: The Garden » THINK before you give a bad reference » 954 weeks ago
That's crazy. From what I heard, most larger companies nowadays only verify dates of employement (They worked from this date to this date). And don't even get into whether they were a good or bad employee. Sounds like alot of BB HR reps try to take matters into their own hands.

Ex-manager sues Best Buy over e-mail
By Sam Wood
INQUIRER STAFF WRITER
"If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all," a cartoon character once said.
He might have added: Especially in an e-mail.
Stung by a scathing job reference, a South Jersey man filed a federal lawsuit last week, claiming that Best Buy, his former employer, blackballed him.
Michael Oliveri, 47, said it was impossible to find a new job after he was fired in August 2006 from Best Buy, the electronics megamart.
In his suit, Oliveri said he became suspicious after job offers at Circuit City and Target were abruptly terminated.
So Oliveri, of Columbus, Burlington County, hatched a plan.
He created an e-mail account using the name of a Target employee. Then Oliveri sent a note to his former company asking for a "candidate reference."
According to Oliveri's lawsuit, the district human resources manager, Ann McCafferty, allegedly responded:
"I will give you the skinny on him but you can't say you got any info from Best Buy or we can be sued. Just don't hire him and say you went with a better candidate.
"He was hired as GM and demoted after 12 months or so because he sucked. He is desperate for a job because supposedly his wife left him because he has no job. I would not touch him.
"Again, do not forward this e-mail to anybody or say where you heard the info from because we were not allowed to give this info out, but I would hate you to get stuck with this guy!"
Needless to say, Oliveri did not get the job.
New Jersey law prohibits interference with a prospective employment relationship. Oliveri is seeking a minimum of $100,000 in damages, said his lawyer, Katherine D. Hartman of Moorestown.
McCafferty was subsequently promoted and now works at Best Buy corporate headquarters in Minnesota.
The company's legal team is reviewing the case, a spokeswoman said.
"There's not a lot we can say other than we're investigating it," said company spokeswoman Dawn Bryant.
Oliveri was hired in 2004 as general manager of the Best Buy's Wilmington store and later worked at the Plymouth Meeting branch.
The suit was filed Jan. 22 in U.S. District Court in Camden.

greatest team of all time (which they are not, everybody knows that is the 84 49er's!
) .
I'm suprised there's not more talk of this, because if NE does win this talk about 'Are they the greatest team ever' will go on for another week or two. Probably resume at pre-season & early next year.

I don't think it will come out this year. I think there's some bitter internal struggle going on that no one's mentioning that we haven't heard. And the label isn't going to budge, delayed indefinitely.
{sniff sniff} I smell Elephant turd.

Haha, yeah that was a phenonenal show. Hard to watch though anymore, due to being alot older. There's a channel here (Pax or some smaller channel) which shows reruns.
Is that true about not being on DVD because they can't get the rights to songs, I didn't know that.
"Attention Customers: There is too much room in Kevin Arnolds crotch" haha
Also some otehr favs was the one where he plays in a band and the guitarist gets stagefright (it was at a girls 13th bday party or something. Really crappy band) and one where he meets a cool, bad kid and they go out to the woods and drink beer & smoke cigarettes (at around 14 or 15). The sister was so cool, I like one ep where he says in the beginning he never really knew his sister. She was some hippie who was a misfit in the family, they get closer in the epidode. The brother was hysterical as a jerk. Also, there was a good episode where a much older kid down the street was killed in Vietnam (funny, back then 19 seemed so old to me, now it seems so young). Reminded me of a friends older brother down the street I grew up on, he wasn't in any wars, but it would have been a strange feeling to experience if he was killed in a war. I think I would have looked at life alot different. Amazing show in those regards.

I'd rather stick toothpicks in my eyeballs than watch NY vs. Boston in a champioship. It's similar to the NY subway series in baseball a few years ago (Mets vs Yankees). MLB wanted it, then when it happened no one outside of NYC watched it.
It has some great storylines (19-0, Brady becoming a legend, Eli Peytons brother, scrappy NY team fighting hard upsetting team). I think NYG has a legitimate shot, just isn't my game to root for anyone. There's no winners for me, only loosers. haha.
#6519 Re: The Garden » Edwards quits race » 954 weeks ago
I have no idea who this is gonna benefit either. I don't think anyone has a clue. He has been running for so long that no one knows who his base will jump ship to.
I was likely gonna vote for him. Now I am stuck between Hillary and Obama. I'll have to vote for Hillary, but I just cant imagine myself actually checking the box next to her name. I always hated that bitch.
That's right, your in California.. Who's in the lead there? I think Obama really needs CA. Hillary will likely get NY & NJ, so Obama needs a big state to hold on. Then get otehrs like GA, TENN, & ALA.

Yeah, I really thought he'd hold on until after Tuesday, just to not distort the current #'s. Now anything can really happen, although I'm not sure whether it's Obama or Clinton who benefits & gets most of his votes. It might be close to 50/50 anyway, also vary by state.
