yea that's true. If Finck is gone, count me out. It's not that I like the guy so much, but now you have replacements of replacements of replacements in GNR.
So you haven't realised yet that GNR is just another NIN?

Izzy and Slash.

So for someone to say those guys were better than Slash before CD came out is just lame and ridiculous.
Now, since CD is out, u can argue anything u want to argue. but I thought it was retarded for people to make those claims based on how guys covered his stuff.
Untrue. Many covers surpass their originals, and although i'd normally agree with you, there's quite a few people that would argue that GNR's Live and Let Die, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, and Sympathy For The Devil surpass their originals. Alot of people like those songs.
Axlin, I just lost alot of respect for you as a music fan. To say that GNR did a better version of SFTD than the Stones is a sacrilege. Come on man! I liked GNR's version but to say it is better than the Stones. You should be punished!
#654 Re: Guns N' Roses » How many would you attend? » 899 weeks ago
None. Saw them perform AFD in 06. So what would be the point of attending that one again? They also performed 5 songs from CD on that same show in 06, so that is almost half the album. Again pointless to spend big $ to see a rehashed show. As far as the UYI shows. They'd probably be too expensive for me. Take in account that where I live I'd have to at least travel 5 hours to attend a show. Only reason I'd go is if Buckethead was there. Otherwise I ain't buying.
#655 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Duff: I love Axl Rose » 899 weeks ago
I'd prefer Brain or Freese, but that irrelevant. I don't think (anymore) that we'll see a reunion. But Axl said he's be willing to work with Izzy and or Duff on some of their music. So a collaboration between Duff and Axl for Loaded isn't such a stretch for my imagination. I think it could happen at some point.

So did anyone else get the magazine? I got it last night, its quite a good interview, he talks a little about Great White as well. There was quite a few things that we havnt heard about before. He reveals the location of the missing million dollars that Izzy freaked out over, "it was in an escrow account, it was to be released when Guns booked a tour of a certain size or had recouped the other $1.5 million they had already recieved as an advance against merchendise sales."
Zakk Wilde has an interview in the magazine with Axl and Slash mentions, he calls Slash a sweetheart and Axl a beautiful guy.
There is a small interview with a band called "The Trews" who say they supported GNR, I've never heard of them.
"We were told not to talk to Axl and not to look at Axl or we'd get kicked off the tour. We wernt even allowed within 300 ft of him. It was fine because he's Axl Rose and we were nobodies. One night we were supposed to play for 45 minutes, and when we were playing our last song the road manager is motioning us to - like stetch it out, keep playing - because Axl had decided he wasnt going on stage until midnight"
They are a Canadian band. Saw them when I went to see GNR in 06. Really good band. Their best known hits are "not ready to go" and Tired of waiting".

So Slash didn't put solos on any of those songs? If you're not counting that, then you have to throw out Axl singing the chorus on 14 years. TABY, AG are considered by many the filler (if there was filler) on AFD and RNDTH is filler on UYI I. DC is regarded as one of the weaker singles and YCBM is more known for the video than the song itself.
Anyway, I'll take Coma and Estranged over any of those songs. I'm not trying to diminish what Izzy did - I think he was great and the key to getting Axl's ideas to work with a Stones type feel to it. But as far as him and Axl (or Axl alone) creating masterpieces without input from Slash (or others in some cases), I just don't see it.
Izzy, Axl and Bucket. Man CD would've been 100 times better as well. It's all a matter of opinion, but Izzy's solo stuff while not successful was way better than anything Slash did post GNR. Again a matter of opinion.

You should all do like me. I don't care why. The main thing for me is that Axl is willing to work with Izzy. And that will give way better music than any collaboration between Axl and Slash and that is a fact.
Is it a fact? What has Axl done with Izzy that didn't have any contribution from Slash? I love Izzy as much as anybody and see him as the key to the success of GnR's original music, but let's be realistic at least. Slash by default as the lead guitarist impacted every song he was on. Izzy, while an important part of the songwriting for most of AFD and some of UYI, had little to do with the writing side of Axl's songs.
Axl + Slash = Coma, Estranged, NR
Axl + Izzy - Slash = ???
And to be fair any contribution between Izzy and Slash would be better than any contribution between Axl and Slash. Izzy was able to bring the best out of them while bringing out the best in him. Seriously, had VR been able to get Izzy. Contraband and Libertad would've been 100 times better. If I could only have either Izzy or Slash in my band you can bet your ass that I would choose Izzy and without hesitating a nanosecond. And by saying that I do not want to undermine Slash's talent, but as far as songwriting musically is concerned, Izzy smokes both Axl and Slash. And had Axl been able to bring back Izzy for CD, I would've loved to see what he and Buckethead could've done.

Guys, you are pretty ignorant when it comes to Slash. I don't bother listing again the numerous songs in different genres he played and wrote. Of course, Izzy, Duff, Axl, Steven, Gilby, Dizzy and Matt are more diverse musicians. You are right.
It's all a matter of opinion of course. But since Slash has left GNR, he hasn't done anything that is very good in my opinion. So he can play many genres all you want but if it all sucks then what's the use?
