If Axl is cool with Baz using him as a selling point for this album why should it bother anyone else.
The concern has nothing to do with Axl being ok with it. It has everything to do with what happens when it isn't well received. By using Axl as the marketing tool, when it fails some people in the media and general public will consider that (fairly or unfairly) a reflection on Axl.

It won't effect Guns N' Roses. Axl is just singing and from the song we have heard he sounds pretty damn good. He has nothing to do with the making of the album. If anything the guest spot will end up being the only positive spin on the album if it is as shitty as you think it will be.
I don't think Axl sounds good either. Maybe the album version will be better, but what I heard on the radio version was total crap. Much like the CD demos, it sounds way too busy.

I agree in regards to the Pats. I'd like to see them go undefeated in some respects, but this running up the score stuff is bullshit. I'm losing a lot of respect for Belicheck. I don't blame Brady as he's just doing what he's told to do. If there was some way to take out Brady without causing permanent damage, I would do it if I were the opposing coach. Hit him. Hit him hard. That would make Belicheck look like an idiot since he's trying so hard to show everybody how smart he is.
I couldn't tell for sure, but it looked like Gibbs ran off the field without greeting Belicheck after the game. I don't blame him.

Remember, music is subjective. Just because someone likes the song doesn't mean they are being "dishonest". Hell, M.I.A. could shit a better track than these two can come up with, but people who don't agree are not being dishonest.
I agree that Axl being used as the promotional tool likely means its not a very good album, but some will like it regardless of how much other people think it sucks.
Thats how music is.
Oh, I agree. When I said "honest listen" what I really meant was listen to it objectively. I understand that what I think is good or bad isn't necessarily good or bad to anybody else. I don't expect to change anyone's mind either - that isn't my goal. I just don't want to keep seeing the same couple people trying to convince me or anybody else how great it is. There's a very vocal minority that seems to think repeating something over and over makes it so. I'm just providing balance.
I would like to see Axl succeed. That is why things like this really bother me. I knew this would be the result and I am not looking forward to what I suspect will be the result. This will not be well received and Axl's name being associated with it isn't going to help Guns N' Roses. I was thinking most people would realize that.

I'm waiting for someone to knock the shit out of Brady. Belicheck is going to get him hurt by running up the score like he keeps doing.

Please let me know where I can find this "Set Of Rules For Music". I've been into music since I was about 3 and I've never heard of such a thing.
I'm pretty sure they aren't written anywhere, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Use some common sense and drop it, because you know I'm right. There's a reason that this is fucked up and it isn't just my opinion. It screams desperation and if you read the thread about it, you'll see that others recognize it. The song is weak and it's being used to promote the album. Figure it out.

Everyone that plans to buy this just to hear Axl, please post here. This is going to be funny.
EDIT: I just heard the radio version. I hope the album version is better. This version sounds terrible.

by the same token, if you really believe that...then what does it matter where it is? .net or .com?
What are you asking? Your question seems to make the same point I made.
I choose to be here because this is where the community is. I don't care what it's called or who owns what. Brody made a decision to not communicate with anybody when the site was having problems. I don't care what happened before, I don't care what happened behind the scenes with the staff. All I know is that when something happened at the original RoV site, it was James, DTJ, and Neemo that dealt with it. There was no sign of Brody, there were few posts from Brody, and there was no contribution to the community from Brody other than paying the bill (with help from others).
Look, I appreciate what Brody did to start the site and keep it going. Sometime about a year ago, something changed and he disappeared for the most part. He no longer communicated with the staff and he no longer communicated with the community on a regular basis. The community continued to grow and boneded with each other. Brody chose to be an outsider. He further alienated everybody when the site went down and there was no communication from him again. Something had to be done, but nobody could do something about it other than Brody and he chose to do nothing. He made decisions that showed he didn't treat the community with respect. So the community did the only thing it could do and that is move on. Nobody wanted to leave the old site. Nobody wanted the old site to go away. We all put a lot of time and effort into that site. It still hurts to not be there, but life goes on.
I wish Brody all the luck in the world with the old site. I might go back, I might not. It depends on what value there is to going back. Even if I do return, I will not be leaving this team, this community. I'm here because it's my online family. I'm here because even when we disagree, we have great discussions on gnr and non-gnr related issues. They treat people with respect, they keep people in the loop. They treat the community as though we are all important and recognize the contributions of everybody involved in making the community what it is. There is a reason this site came to be. It isn't because they stole the name or graphics or people...it is because the people WANTED to come, they wanted to stick together. We sought this place out (and it wasn't easy to find). We did it because we wanted to, not because we had to.
