i'm in agreence with buzzsaw...cuz i dont really understand why a pure singer whould have a guest lead vocalist on 3 tracks of his first album in a decade hmm its just weird to sing backup vocals on your own album 16

They were backing vocals and neither of them were on more than one song (2 versions of Don't Cry doesn't count).  Having a guest vocalist make an appearance and sing backing vocals on a song is fine.  Lead on one is odd, lead on one and backing on 2 more is very odd, lead on 3 is a joke.  It's a publicity stunt and having the song Axl sings lead on played on the radio already just proves it.

I already know how he feels about me, and the feeling is mutual.

The other criticism is if the album is so good, why would a person who's only talent is to sing bring in another guy to sing lead on 3 of his songs unless it was just to sell more records?

I'd say its more that:

1. Baz and Axl are friends...and its cool to have your friends on your album.
2. Baz is a fan of Axls. Its obvious from all the interviews he has given in the past - especially around the time of Axls return to the public view - that Baz thinks axl is an amazing singer, and he's talked about how impressed he is by his screams and range and stuff. Its therefore logical that he thinks brining him in would make a great song even better.

I dont deny that there will be financial/promotional rewards to having axl involved, but i think thats a welcome side effect not the purpose of his inclusion, as as to your assertion that his involvment somehow means that they doubt the album to have been any good to start with. Well i dont see it that way.

I might have written what i thought was the best song in the world, and if i had a friend who has talents I admire and respect, I'd damn sure ssk him to add to my song.

At the end of the day, i think its a stretch to say that getting a guest singer means you think the album is shit and needs a lift. At the same time - i'm not saying its going to be the worlds best album - i'm expecting it to be similar to the other Skid Row albums - damn fun when your drunk and need to rock the hell out!!!

I get that they are friends and friends do things for friends.  I also get that Baz might be a fan of Axl.  What I DON'T get is why when Baz's ONLY talent is singing he would have 3 songs that he lets somebody else sing lead on.

If it was one song, I'd understand.  If it was a situation like Duff's first album where he brought in a bunch of guest singers (including Bach if I remember correctly), I'd understand.  This is neither of those.  This is about 1/4 of an album sung by one person taking the place of the person who's album it's supposed to be.  Does that mean the album sucks?  Not necessarily, but it isn't a good sign.

That's really the thing Neemo.  All he had to do was let you guys know what was going on and everything would have been fine.

I understand why he's upset to some extent, but why he's pushing to bring back a site that he had practically nothing to do with for the last year is beyond me unless he really thinks he's going to be able to salvage it and sell it.  I could see if he was there everyday and posted a lot, but I was there a lot and I rarely would see him there.  It's a sad situation and hopefully it will resolve itself shortly.

He'd be in the same place he is now. Did he get some big career boost out of opening for Guns that I missed?

Well, I'll put it this way:  I keep a pretty close eye on music and had he not been opening for gnr, I wouldn't know anything about what he was doing now short of having been on reality tv and some VH1 specials.  I'm willing to bet that I'm not the only one that is aware of him currently ONLY because of his association with Axl.  So yes, he has received a career boost.  How big?  I don't know, but considering he was completely off the map before he opened for gnr, I'd say it wasn't a small one.

Listen, I like Bach's voice and I liked Skid Row back in the day.  The guy has a gift for singing hard rock/metal.  He's a far better singer than Axl is (in my opinion), but that's where it ends.  His songwriting skills make Axl look like Beethoven and I don't think he's anywhere near a top flight frontman (I'd say he's slightly above average), but the guy is one hell of a singer.

I'm sorry to hear that DTJ, but he is much better off now.  It will be difficult for awhile, but always remember the good times when he was healthy.  I'm sure he cherishes the time spent with you and still watches over you.

Liking the album because it is Bach's is terrific.  I don't think anyone has criticized anyone for wanting to buy it because of Bach.  The criticism comes in when people say they are only buying it because Axl is on it because somehow they think buying Baz's album supports Axl.  The other criticism is if the album is so good, why would a person who's only talent is to sing bring in another guy to sing lead on 3 of his songs unless it was just to sell more records?  Neither of those are anything against people that like Bach.  Hell, I think Bach has an amazing voice.

Emir has a good point too that I never thought about.  Axl has never done anything to support his band members' solo acts, but here he is helping Baz out (again).  Where would Bach be without Axl?

I tell ya, I am thanking Baz immensely because of his album we are going to hear official, studio released music with Axl on it.    Hell, if Axl can push Baz's album up in the charts and sell the hell out of it, more power to Baz because he deserves it for this.  5

So for you, it's more important to hear Axl on official studio material than it is for Guns N' Roses to move forward?  That's a stance an Axl supporter would take, not a Guns N' Roses supporter.

I think I understand where you're trying to go with this, but this doesn't really help gnr fans at all.  As I've said before, the potential downside far outweighs any chance that this helps lead to CD being released, which is all I care about.

I'm starting to think Axl did this so that (once again) he can blame somebody else for CD not being out yet.  His people will say "He doesn't have a problem recording and releasing.  None of this is his fault."  They will blame lack of a manager (which is their fault), record company issues (which is their fault), Slash and VR (somehow they are always to blame), some lawsuit from the 90s, etc.  This cycle keeps repeating itself.  Axl being on Baz's record isn't going to change that.

The greatest metal album of the 21st century and the lead singer doesn't even sing lead on 3 of his own songs?  So what does Bach do on those songs?  Play the bongos?
