Crap. After listening to it super close this afternoon I think I could be wrong.
it's guitar and bucket is the only guitar player at that time who would have come up with that.

it doesn't matter if it's the best music gnr has ever created. a brilliant album full of twats - ha ha - isn't gonna sell more than 1, 2, or maybe 3 million copies in the current culture and industry of dl's and a twat like song won't sell much as a single on itunes either. Reworking the songs will ony make them worse. for these reasons, amogst every other, gnr needs to target the hardcores and past generation mullets. release what's in the vault (as is) right now, right before the tour. don't fuck it up in attempt to include and market current members. there's no point in that other than to please the current members. you can please the current members by writing/recording/releasing brand new material as band after the tour or whenever. until then, give the only people who still care about new material what they want.

i felt the same way about the bass drum at first. i've come to the conclusion that after so many years hearing the song without it, both live and in the demo, that this is why it feels that way at first.
regardless of why one might not like it on the cd, consider that the anticipation factor is already met before the song starts with recorded shit and then continues into the song with the voices and such. the intro needs more imo to cut into the crowd noise and build a higher climax for what could be an awesome opener.
keep in mind a lot of people there still won't know the song. you want to showcase your new material with balls. imagine how much better bucket's riff and the drums will sound live and loud than they do in the studio.

war wrote:the more cd the better for me but, if they're gonna play mostly hits, jungle '06 is by far the best opener of all.
if they stick with cd i wish they'd have bbf play bucket's opening guitar riff and add a real base drum over that rather than ashba playing his riff over the entire recorded intro.
then save jungle for encore.
Wait, what? You mean the riff at the intro to the song? The one Robin played live and on the record?
bucket's riff that coincides with the base drum, leading up to robin's/ashba's riff.
both should be played live by band rather than by recording.

Yes you are.
basing my opinion on what multiple people close to axl have claimed.
So am I.
im also thinking that logic favors there is a ton of finished material.
A ton? No one has ever claimed a ton unless you're referring to those late 90s comments of hundreds of song ideas/fragments.
otherwise, he paid his hired musicians for over a decade to do almost nothing.
When GNR resurfaced in 2006, Dizzy said the band hadn't seen each other since the last show on the 2002 tour.
im not claiming axl is an evil liar but he does have a track record of not releasing music and making excuses while deflecting blame onto others.
In other news.....water is wet.
Good to see you again. Haven't noticed you posting in awhile.
well you referenced axl alone. my reasons for that being irrelevant have been stated.
a ton, in that context, refers to a lot of material since I have no idea the exact amount of songs that exist.
you can't tell me that since gnr reformed for the first time til now the multitude of musicians axl has paid haven't spent countless hours recording enough demo qulaity material to fill two additional albums. that doesn't take ten years to achieve, especially with axl working independently from the band for most of the process.
nice to see you too. i have actually been posting more often than the usual once a week.

Let me ask you this; If Better and IRS aren't single material then why were radio stations all over America putting them in regular rotation in 2006 (in leak form) well before the album was out?
because even as late as 2006 there was interest - more interest than there was a year later and less interest than there was a year prior, both progressively the farther you move forward or backward in time.
this is why many say the leaks killed cd's success. people made up their minds before they heard the final product and the best songs on the album and the target market wasn't downloading singles from itunes in large enough numbers at the time.
does promo help? yes
was cd promoted? yes
could it have benefited from being promoted better? yes
how much difference? who knows for sure but an album that become a punch line for some time, created by hired guns needed every advantage it could get and that did not happen.
#668 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy now $1.99 » 781 weeks ago
rock n roll train was heavily promoted along with the album - from my view.
im also not sure about the gnr myspace theory - some are saying that because the amount of listens went down in order (as u go down the list) that this proves people were checking it out due to curiosity and not liking it.
my issue with that is why were they mainly checking out the songs that were on the radio and rock band?
people, in general, are sheep and take what is handed to them.
cd didn't need a better single nor did it need promo - it needed to come out 6 or more years earlier.
the people that were legitemately interested, mostly, purchased.
twat or catcher wouldve been a better single but i just dont think it wouldve mattered towrd album sales but the as singles they would've probably sold more.

james-you base too much off of what axl says:
Yet you're doing the same thing twisting the quotes around to fit in with what you believe.
If you cant base something off what Axl says, who is left? I'm a bit interested in what comes from the horse's mouth.
no, i'm not.
i'm ignoring axl's words and basing my opinion on what multiple people close to axl have claimed. im also thinking that logic favors there is a ton of finished material. otherwise, he paid his hired musicians for over a decade to do almost nothing.
im not claiming axl is an evil liar but he does have a track record of not releasing music and making excuses while deflecting blame onto others.
he has a motive to deny the existence of music that others want released. he does things on his watch and doesn't want to be pressured into anything.

who cares - why argue whether or not it has singles? as if it's bad if it doesn't. have you guys listened to what's on the radio lately? cd is too legit to have singles. ten years ago.....it's loaded with singles.
