#6771 Re: The Sunset Strip » 24 Season 7 » 931 weeks ago
Wow, that sucks. Alot of shows are F**ed this season. I'm wondering what's going to happen to Lost. As for 24, I don't really watch it, but they should still try to make a season out of it. Either air the 8 this spring & return in the fall, or run them during the summer.
At first I was against this strike, but I read the writers are fighting for $$ from internet release, which I can understand. They should fight for their share from it. A bigger issue is the Directors & Acotrs guilds contracts are up next year & they will want their share of internet revenue as well. The production companies have to give in on this issue. Pretty soon we'll all just be downloading shows & watching them on HDTV monitors, so they need to plan ahead. Remember how the Gilligans Island cast got screwed out of millions for not anticipating the amount of $$ from syndication & reruns??!
FOX is supposedly in the drivers seat this spring, with American Idol they're going to air it just about every night. & the auditions episodes will go on for weeks.

So Axl is just sitting around and says "I want to call Baz" and he texts him? I don't buy that for a second.
Pretty much... but out of curiousity what do you think it's about?? Related to VR or trying to get publicity or something. I'm just curious to know.
#6773 Re: Guns N' Roses » Baz: VR or Axl? » 931 weeks ago
I think he stumbled into the Axl thing. The picture I got from the Trunk interview was that Axl called Baz, so I think he just kinda walked into a backup plan.
I agree, they happened 4+ years apart. I don't think it's a revenge type thing. And he certainly didn't have it as a "backup plan" in 2002.
either way, he's making better music than VR, so it worked out in the end.
You're kidding right?? I'm just gonna leave this one alone and find out a week after Nov 20th how much better it is!!
#6774 Re: Guns N' Roses » If there is a reunion, where do people stand? » 931 weeks ago
I want to hear CD. But not an album of TWAT, IRS, CD, Better, Maddy, Blues CITR etc... If I get that, plus 3 other songs, I'll be pissed. I've heard them already. Chances are that's what we'll get, & if so, I'll be disappointed.
It'll be hard for me to consider these guys GnR. Axl's too late IMHO. 2002 with Korn, Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, Manson etc being big was the time. I don't see this album being huge. I've also become annoyed with the delays. I'm more looking forward to Metallica & U2. With Rick Rubin producing Metallica, I think that album will be awesome.
Anyway, I'm with NYG, I wanna see CD released (preferably 2 discs, either simultaneously or a year apart) a tour, then some time off. Then reunion talk & happening.
To answer your question about fans, I guess people would have to be the same way, either get on board with GnR, or jump ship. Even moreso if a reunion ever happened, it'd be pretty hard to make arguments for Robin, BBF, Frank, Tommy etc if Axl was back with Slash & co.
#6775 Re: The Garden » Canadian Dollar vs US Dollar » 931 weeks ago
Don't blame Bush, Clinton or whomever. Blame the FED. They're the ones who are supposed to be the source of stability in the economy. Still they keep printing more and more money, further weakening the dollar.
But hey, nothing new under the sun. This will be what, the 11th recession in America since the establishment of the FED some 90 years ago.
Our country has also flourished in the last 90 years as well. Set up a graduated income tax, built a limitless roadway & railroad system, built millions of homes each decade, gave rise to corporate America & increased job growth( http://www.leftbusinessobserver.com/Stats_unempl.html ). In the 1930's the WPA was paying people to dig holes & work on parks, because there were no jobs the government had to give them jobs (which it should make people do who are on welfare but that's a whole nother story). America came a long way under FDR's regime, and has hardly looked back since.
11 recessions is nothing, it's part of the process, a give & take. But overall our countries been pretty fucking good since WWII ended in 1945. Sure it had it's setbacks, but relatively speaking compared to other countries, we've been very strong & fortunate.
#6776 Re: The Sunset Strip » The Eagles Thread (Number one album) » 932 weeks ago
I love how the media is spinning the Britney story though. They are hailing it as a smash success and her comeback is bigger than imagined, but what they wont tell you is that her album sold around 150,000 copies less than was expected. It sold around 200,000 copies.
Yeah, I think her mgmt & publicist were expecting it to sell a ton, then hail it as a big "comeback" "Oh, how sweet, she had such a tragic life & she made it thru" (a la Tina Turner & her 1984 album). Only, with downloading the album sales sucked! And the album probably sucks too! And to pour salt on the wounds, The Eagles album topped it to place #1 in the charts by a landslide!!
That orchestrated "comeback" failed miserably. Time to start planning for her next comeback 2-3 years from now. I guarantee you she stays in the news (TMZ) from now until then with stupid drama shit. I'm predicting a "drug-bust" and a DUI, since she already used her rehab & failed marraige cards.

Yeah I was thinking Sundin as well. Guess I forgot to add him on the question.

.. wrong thread.
#6779 Re: Guns N' Roses » Interesting read on Axl, touring, albums in Slash's biography » 932 weeks ago
This thread is hi-jacked, as the last full page of posts is about how it should or shouldn't be in the GnR section. if the mods move it they'll move it. In the meantime can people discuss the outtake from the book.
