speaking of success and future success there is a simple way to ensure future success other than a catchy radio friendly song(that us die hards might not even care for?)interviews, late night shows ie...kimmel,letterman,leno. basically the things everyone here already knows. it surely is a great way to lure in the casuals or younger crowd. i dread saying it but also a collaboration with someone really hip right now. in other words, nothing it seems axl would ever do at this point in his career.

you are right. it just sucks that axl couldn't get the album out back then. through all this i find it amazing that the guys that made the songs and recorded it aren't the ones playing the shit now. yeah i know that some of the material was re-re-re-recorded to feature the players that he has now but damn. to drop the album around mtv 2002 and right before north american tour. then again his voice was suspect and like james has said often....he was in no mental state to be on tour. i would agree both physically and mentally.

True, because now you basically have a cover band covering the CD songs and the AFD songs.

That is the only reason Axl put Ron on every  track of CD no matter how small his addition was, and even putting Frank on some of the songs.

Because he knows its bad he cannot even keep his band together. Frank added nothing to CD and it was a joke he redid brains CD.  And I still dont think Ron added anything good to CD, he just made the album more of a mess by adding parts that didnt even fit in the context of the song.

It was rumored CDII was made with CD, so hopefully there is a ton of BH< Robin, and Brain on the next album. It would be stupid to replace brains tracks with Frank, and to have DJ redo Robins parts

That is why I really think the best think that can happen is for the hoarders to leak out the songs the way they were meant to be heard. The 2002-06 versions before Axl started adding addition band members.

Imagine the out cry if when Gilby joined he redid izzys parts of UYI?

your right that it would be stupid to replace bh and robin for the cd 2 material but lets be honest. thats exactly what he would do. if there was some great songs during bh era that would still be on cd 2 if and when it came out, he would do exactly what he did for this album. credit bh in some way and keep some of his shit and have ron re-do things(which he already has) the whole thing is a damn mess when you think about it and is very unfortunate. they really should leak a bunch of shit and if they keep this line-up create a new album with these players period.

i agree with this as well. the leak was a masterpiece. one of the greatest things axl has done. it did have a beatles feel and it was meant to. he definately went overboard and that is a shame. maybe the biggest shame of the whole cd.

Nah.

How about:

We're planning a tour of The States for November - we hope to announce the dates soon

yeah but then you have to read that dreaded word.........."soon"

twitter is basically a "had the best prime rib of my life last night, rock on"

Saikin/stephen, resolve the dispute in PMs or put each other on your ignore list. Tired of seeing that stuff in every thread I want to read. You're both Cornell nutswingers. Time to kiss and make up.

As far as artists/bands playing a set revolving around new songs, most do NOT do it. Especially bands like GNR dominated by nostalgia. Yeah, bands like the Black Crowes, Pearl Jam,etc. may do a tour revolving around a new album, and Audioslave also pushed their new material, and M.I.A. played about 90% new material in 2007.

Those are exceptions to the rule though. While us hardcore fans may want Axl to whip out Riad, there aren't enough people in the crowd begging to hear that.

Both sides of this argument have valid concerns. The tour started off like the band was hungry, had something to prove, and was actually pushing Chinese Democracy. Now its back to the nostalgia kick with a few CD songs thrown in there for forum junkies.

i'm hoping the cd songs aren't being blasted out cuz of the dates in south america. i understand that they probably like him better over there than here but he hasn't played alot of these places in a long time and maybe he wants to do a little more rehash. like i said, i hope. i'm also hoping that if they come to the states again and i don't see a show like 2002 0r 2006 again. i would be scratching my head til i reach whats left of my brain. i know i've said it before but god damn i love this site. my own private magazine with all you guys as contributing writers. i feel like i know you fuckers. 9
