And I'm saying you guys should give TJT and Achtung a chance.  *lol*  But to each his own.  Just weird hearing of someone not owning one U2 album.  I thought my Grand mother was the only one.  *lol*  Although I could be surprised and find a U2 album in her cd collection.

I have to chime in here. Bon Jovi will NEVER be a rock GOD. That is a silly notion. The band and the man (Jon) has never released a ground breaking album, nor have they or ever will "change the face of music". Their music will never "define a generation". They will never write music that "only they could write" and "break new ground" with their music. Music snobs and elitist will never ever take them seriously.

That being said, Bon Jovi has recorded some good music and has entertained millions of people around the world They are ultra-mega rock stars that sell tons of albums and their music will be popular for years and decades to come. However, they will never be Rock GODS. They don't deserve a seat at the table with Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, PInk Floyd, and so on and so fourth.

This is not my opinion, this is fact. Fact Fact Fact. When y'all are 75 years old, you can look high abd low, deep and shallow, but you will never find Bon Jovi or Jon Bon Jovi in the category of rock GOD.

Album sales and ticket sales do not define a rock GOD.

Really?  Do you like Unplugged albums?  If so please send a thank you note to Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora.

I respect U2 and I consider them one of the greatest bands ever but I personally have never been able to get into them.

Yeah me too.  I actually used to hate U2 because my older sister liked them.  She actually liked GNR too and I hated them as well.  It wasn't cool to like what your older sister liked.  Needless to say I quickly changed my mind on GNR.  I no longer hate U2, but I don't own any of their albums, have never bought or illegally downloaded any of their songs.  I like some of their songs, if they come on the radio I may think twice about changing the channel, but I don't really get them either.  I went to see a U2 cover band a few years back, it really wasn't my choice, I just went along for the ride.  The guy dressed as Bono and did the whole rap, it was entertaining.  But yeah, never really got into them and I doubt I'll start now.

Hmmm!  Weird.  And I say that with respect.  While I'm not a U2 nutswinger or fanboy, I still have to recognize their importance.  The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby are two of the greatest rock records of all time.  After that I found myself liking their albums a lot less.  Not that they were bad records, but none of those albums are on my regular rotation.  But when a song from Joshua Tree or Achtung plays, man it's hard to not be impressed.  And by the way I do agree that if Axl treated his fans just half has good as U2 does then we'd be treated like gold.

To add to this Bon Jovi thing.  Saw them live during the One Wild Night tour in 2001 in Quebec.  They hadn't played there in like 8 years or something.  And they rocked!  Awesome gig.  And during Wanted dead or alive.  Jon and Richie just played staring in awe at the crowd cause Jon started singing the song but stopped cause the crowd was drowning his voice.  The sold out crowd sang the whole song and when Jon tried singing you couldn't hear him cause the crowd drowned his voice.  Now I know some of you will hate this but that didn't happen at the GNR concert I went to in 06.  Nor at any shows during that tour.  We couldn't hear Axl's voice cause he turned down the mic but the half empty arena didn't drown his voice.  Not saying JBJ necessarilly deserves to be number 3 but he deserves to be in the top ten.  And the so called critics who always destroy Bon Jovi's albums in their reviews, I can guarantee those same critics probably have some Bon Jovi on a regular rotation.  And like Bono said.  Just about everybody on this planet has the Crossroad album.  So yeah they're one of the biggest acts out there.

It'll be 22 years this year that AFD came out and I was already 14 back then.  Next month I'll officially be entering my late thirties era.  Yuk!

Yeah and Cobain shouldn't be in there.  Paul McCartney should be there but a tad lower.  Everybody excepth Cobain deserves to be in there.

Making it through means that your career isn't killed by it. Bands like Poison or Warrant or even Motley Crue or Van Halen were never able to get big again once grunge rolled through. Anyone can have a few down years, and These Days still sold 10 mil+ worldwide (and I would NEVER call it one of their best albums).

The grunge era is one of the most depressing things about GN'R's demise because they had the power and ability to come out of grunge still credible and still successful. I think their collapse hurt a lot of other non-grunge rock bands of that era, although I admit I could name none specifically.

I didn't call it one of their best, I said it was the best. Which in my opinion it is.

Also, I was speaking only of US sales when I mentioned that it didn't do well. Here in the US, Bon Jovi was as dead as all the others when that album came out.

They only had another spark with Crush in 1999. And how you can say that grunge had any effect on Van Halen at all is beyond me.

I agree and disagree with you on this Russ.  Yeah the album was not a success.  But their tour was a sellout at a lot of stadiums, not arenas but STADIUMS.  And they weren't as dead as you make it to be cause when These Days came out there was still a huge fuss about it.  So Bon Jovi is what I consider one of the few 80's bands to survive the grunge era as well.  Where I do agree with you though is that These Days was the last album where Bon Jovi tried anything new musically.  Since then it's been pretty much repetitive.  I liked Crush and Have a nice day! and I'm of the few that thinks Bounce wasn't that bad but nothing original on those albums.

I'm gonna be a nice guy here.  I'm gonna give Dick a good idea for a New year's resolution in 09.  If you can't stand behind what you say about GNR just shut the fuck up!

Fortus.  Why do people still bother listening to that assclown is beyond me.
