#691 Re: Guns N' Roses » CD exclusive to Best Buy only in the States. » 916 weeks ago
I've been under the impression that Best Buy's exclusivity deal won't stretch much beyond Black Friday anyway. Even if they have a lock on the whole of the holiday shopping season, their exclusivity window is going to be limited.

I've been listening more, I guess. I always listen to GN'R a lot, though.

I'm not big into hip hop, but russtcb, you have some good taste. I'm not sure I agree with you about those particular Eminem albums, but your list of the best rap stuff is one of the better ones I've seen someone come up with.

A slightly revised track listing for the new GUNS N' ROSES album, "Chinese Democracy", has now been posted at BestBuy.com, which will exclusively carry the album in the U.S. starting on November 23. A pre-order page for the long-delayed release was posted at the site on Wednesday (October 15), although the pre-order option was later taken off. The page lists 14 song titles for the record, 11 of which have either been played live or leaked online over the past few years. The Pulse of Radio reports that one of those, "Street of Dreams", was previously known as "The Blues", while three titles, "Scraped", "Sorry" and "Prostitute", have not been heard anywhere.
According to Billboard.com, sources who have heard the album say that it opens with a "blood-curdling Axl Rose scream."
Two different covers will apparently be available, along with CD and vinyl versions. What appears to be one of the covers has been posted at the Best Buy site, showing what seems to be a bicycle with a basket perched on it.
There has still not been an official announcement regarding the November 23 arrival date for the record.
"Chinese Democracy" has been in the works since the mid-'90s, with speculation and mystery surrounding the album's 13-year journey, ever-changing roster of players and spiraling recording costs.
Revised "Chinese Democracy" track listing:
01. Chinese Democracy
02. Shackler's Revenge
03. Better
04. Street Of Dreams
05. If The World
06. There Was A Time
07. Catcher N' The Rye
08. Scraped
09. Riad N' The Bedouins
10. Sorry
11. I.R.S.
12. Madagascar
13. This I Love
14. Prostitute

I'm the one who said Friday, if I can just go ahead and call myself out. That's what I was told by a very reliable source when all of this was starting to snowball. I shared it here. I didn't intend to start a rumor and I do not believe I have a track record of being deceptive or misleading or making false, wild predictions. I confirmed the Body of Lies song as being legit way before anyone cared to pay enough attention. I don't come out with these things too often, but when I do, give me the benefit of the doubt and please listen. I have legitimate connections both within the media and industry itself. Again, I was told that Axl Rose was preparing his own "press release" for Friday. Whether or not he delivers on Friday is up to Axl, I guess. I still stand behind it.

Funny, I never said VR were greater than STP or even compared the two directly. I said VR was Weiland's last shot and he blew it. The STP reunion is past its expiration date. I personally do appreciate the style of music VR plays more than STP, yes.

You know guys, this is besides the music, this is besides even the band. The actual RELEASE of this album, good or bad, is a very surreal thing for me on an emotional level. For the past ... decade, I've hyped this album, waiting in stops and starts. I've supported two tours, four years apart, waiting for this album. I've collected demos and burned mixes for girlfriends who are long gone. Relationships I've had have ended. People I've loved have died. All along the way to this album's release, those spikes of new interest, new hype, new leaks, are markers for points in my life, some of which were very troubling. It's no secret to some who know me that the past few years haven't been the brightest for me, and the release of this album almost symbolizes the end of a chapter in my life, the end of an era. A long, long era. I went through all five years of college during this time. I went through several jobs and career paths. You see, no matter who Axl really is as a person, he was always a hero to me. The mythic, frontman Axl, maybe not Axl the man. I am not a nutswinger. I'm just a fan. They're my favorite band. Period. This release really changes everything. When I hold it in my hands, I'm not sure what I'll be feeling. Not for the music, which I've already heard, and not for the band, which I like regardless. For the fact that what was never supposed to happen actually happened. That it took ten fucking years of my life, of passing demos to people in bars, of searching for clues and making mixtapes of leaks. I look around myself now and everyone's different. All the faces. Everything's changed. The only constant was my waiting for this album. And now that's changed, too. What are some of the emotional implications of this album's release for some of you?
