Good point.  I know most of the nurses working in close quarters with COVID-19 patients are making around 60k a year.  But those athletes throwing a ball outdoors are definitely being fucked over by not being paid millions to do so.  I heard a 4 star general makes $140k a year regardless if he/she is in a warzone.  I for one think we should take some of the pay for nurses and generals to make sure protesters and professional athletes are comfortable.

I agree that first responders/nurses along with teachers are vastly underpaid.  And athletes are overpaid.  But unions are important though otherwise their employers, in the sports case, MLB, would try to fuck over the players like they are doing now with an instance of like a 48 game schedule or whatever.

These guys are just entertainers and there's a markets (i.e.  us) but they do have rights.  If your employer wanted to DRASTICALLY reduce your salary in this enviroment, unilaterrally, and implement changes without your consent, you'd be upset too.

They already have destroyed unions in Wisconsin...that is the republican strategy...much of what Trump is doing was already done in Wisconsin. Bought off Supreme Court that is totally political and proud of it.

That’s fine if you think Democrats do nothing. I’m can’t point to one thing a republican at the state or federal level has ever done for me.

The republicans will destroy the middle class on a moments notice or they can get more tax cuts for the rich. It’s obvious where free market capitalism end up. Monopolies. Everything consolidates into one massive company that a handful of people run and benefit from while the masses are pawns in a race to minimum wage and maximum hours.

Trump is the embodiment of a republican. Born on third base...stays on third base...pats himself on the back.

The comments on racism are absurd.

Of course, they do.  What has Trump done as president?  I mean actual legislation and all that other stuff.  Tax cut for the rich.  Which doesn't really work (see Sam Brownback failed governership in Kansas).  And that Tariff/trade war that hasn't helped anyone and has hurt farmers/agriculture here.

Here's another one: they always complain about Obamacare.  And even tried to repeal it.  But they never offered an alternative, in the time that they controlled both houses under Obama till now.  I'm fine if you don't like it but offer up an alternative/your vision if you're going to take away health coverage from millions who need it.  And they didn't offer up anything.  They just didn't like it (for the most part) because it was an Obama piece of legislation.

They're just trying to cover their asses better this time.  They don't want stuff like the LA Lakers getting a loan getting out again for bad PR.  And if this is taxpayer money, this stuff shouldn't be secret anyway.

What beef would he have with Duff and Slash?

Read my summary on the first page. It's a series of Slash screwing out off money... for example Axl tells Matt he should get 10% Matt agrees, Slash says no way afterwards.

Matt wants to start a band, basically Snakepitt is his and Slash's idea. He finds out that Slash during a rehersal has changed the name to Slash's snakepitt. They fight a few times including during vr.

Slash wants the Buckcherry singer. After they've jammed for a few months tells Matt he's quiting the band because he doesn't like the singer... matt says they'll get rid off the singer instead, later on he wants rid of the other guitarist from Buckcherry too... leaving Matt in a bad position.

Also during the gn'r days... Axl, Slash and Duff go out for an extra bow which annoys Matt. Complains to Slash who tell them, we get to do thst because we started the band.

Slash also didn't want him at the Rock N Roll hall of fame.

Slash ignored him when he was trying to find out about the reunion ect... ect.

Every few chapters once Slash is introduced... there's something.

As for Duff, there's a few things... but the books final chapter is Matt trying to get Duff to insist on him joining. Duff says I already signed. Suggests Duff said the drummer can't play (Frank). When Matt brings up Izzy, Duff says fuck izzy. There's more.

Sorry, typing on phone.

Other claims include the suggestion that Stephanie felt up Matt in a car while Axl was looking the other way. Thinking Stephanie would fuck everyone in the band if she could. Also Matt had an opportunity to sleep with Elizabeth Taylor (bit of a stretch) at the Freddie tribute show.

Also lots of stories about Lars wanting to know what's going on with Guns. Lars appears more than Izzy, Gilby combined

Worth checking out.

On the Snakepit stuff, I thought the stuff about just adding Slash's in front of the band was extremely petty.  On the other hand,  I don't exactly have an issue with him getting peeved on discovering that Slash has hired Eric Dover without Matt's knowledge.

That tidbit on Liz Taylor was definitely bullshit/or his imagination.  The one part about Cher wanting to sleep with Duff I also found funny.

The Lars stuff I found interesting.  First of all, Matt gives an interesting version of infamous Montreal riot.  And secondly, there was a definite rivalry between Guns and Metallica on that tour and in general in 1991.  There was that one story where Sorum got blamed for Axl no showing a studio session was pretty funny.

Between the bashing of Slash and Duff it kind of lends to my own theory that Matt thinks there is still a window for him to become a part of the NITL thing. Why would he leave Axl so squeaky clean otherwise?

On that,   later on he is sent a text from Fernando:

I got a text message from Axl’s manager, Fernando, who I had first met (along with his mother, Beta) when he was a young kid from Brazil that Axl decided to take under his wing.
“Hey there bud,” he wrote. “How are you? Just reaching out to see how your schedule is looking. Wondering if you’re interested in joining the band on a few shows and a few songs. Let me know.”
I stared at my phone; I could hardly believe my eyes. I replied a little later, copying my manager, saying I would check my calendar.
Johnny and I hadn’t even left the island before my manager called to say that Fernando had offered to pay all my travel expenses and hotel costs if I agreed to join the band. That was the only form of payment I would get. I asked my manager to get back to them with a polite no thanks.

On Axl, I think he goes easier on him because he didn't spend as much time around him as the other two.  He's still critical of him BUT it seems most of his venom is for Slash and Duff.  I mean he was only bandmates with Axl for like a few years.  He was musical bandmates with Duff for 28 years.

I read through most of the GNR section of his book today.  The interesting thing is that it basically paints Slash as being sort of a two face and Duff as spineless (sound familiar?).

Speaking of which, one of the last chapters of the book is about Duff and let's just say I lost a lot of respect for him.  He even bad mouths Frank (Duff does).  I ended up empathizing a lot with Matt Sorum (not my favorite GNR member)  during that entire chapter.  Just brutal to read.

The Frank part to me reeks of sour grapes but I haven’t read it. Any more detail?

Sure Duff and Matt are talking (this is around 2014, when the reuinon rumors first started), and Matt is asking about generally what's going on.  And they are still good friends at this point.  Matt just sort of wants clarification--and he wants to be the drummer.  I have a tendency to believe Sorum--even if it comes off as self serving a bit.

Oh, this hasn't been mentioned here but the book has been cancelled and will not be published.  Oh another part that was kind of funny:
Axl firing Rick Rubin.

Here's the passage

I continued to call Duff, but he was constantly evading me, and I realized he wasn’t telling the truth. “Duff, what’s going on?” I said.
“Well, Axl wants to use his drummer,” he said. “But the guy can’t even play the drums. I’ve gotta talk to Axl and say I really can’t play with this guy.”
Wait! Back up!” I said. “What do you mean you don’t think he’s very good? And you can’t fucking tell Axl? That would be the first thing I’d say if I was the bass player and you were the drummer. Why do you think I
asked you to play in the Vampires? Because you’re my favorite bass player.”
“Come on, man.”
“No. . . . Go to Axl and tell him you want me on drums. Period. Now’s the time.”
“Oh, man,” Duff said, his voice kind of shrinking. “I already signed the deal.”

Disagree.  How is the US headed too far left?  What policies have been enacted that leads to this conclusion?  Obama governed as a moderate.

Trump won because Hiliary took the midwest and PA for granted.  If you want to be totally honest, he represents a minority of the worst that this country has to offer.

#739 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl’s “ridiculous demands” » 310 weeks ago

To me it's a double edged sword, HE NEEDED the GNR name to sell the project, but he would have been better off (creatively speaking) just going a solo route for a while, until the inevitable reunion happened.

Sad that the words he said in those late 90s-early 2000s interviews were prophetic.

Cusack's one of those actors that I didn't realize how much I actually liked.

He deserved to have a better career. Unlike other major actors from the 80s, the breakout role to send him to the next level never materialized.

He got pigeonholed as a romantic comedy guy which didn't help.

Speaking of actor's from the 80s, does Mickey Rourke get overlooked now?  He has a ton of great/decent films from the 80s.  I watched Prayer for the Dying the other day.  He pulled off an Irish accent pretty well.  Year of the Dragon (got pacing issues though) and Angel Heart are pretty good too.

I'm thinking about digging into Charlie sheen's filmography as well.  A while back I watched a pretty good film of his The Boys Next Door, sort of a precursor to Natural Born Killers and Kalifornia (probably Pitt's best acting performance).  I think I liked it more than Natural Born Killers, it seemed more authentic and it portrayed the bleakness of small town USA in the 80s.
