#7591 Re: Guns N' Roses » The Possibility of a Guns N' Roses '09 Summer tour » 883 weeks ago
Although Axl has talked about the double album and the posibility of a follow up at some stage, I'd be very surprised if that happened without a tour for this album.
I'm pretty sure the next thing the band does publicly would be a show of some kind to showcase the CD songs. I mean from their point of view - they just spent years working on the album - and it was a long and painful process it seems - can't really see them jumping back into the studio without getting out there and enjoying the fruits of that labour by touring a bit.
Appointing DJ to replace robin also signals a tour is in the works to me, as robin had recorded parts for a new album aleady, and NIN is alegedly winding down soon, so there was no need for an imediate replacement unless he felt like touring eventually.
So i think the next thing that will happen will be a show. But it's obviously not going to be for a while given the recent events, rumours and silence.

Ditch this Chinese shit and era(or wrap it in a box like Madagas said), and come back next year with a marketable lineup capable of writing killer tunes.
Axl
Tommy
DJ Ashba
Kim Thayil
Justine Frischmann
Pitman
Dizzy
Greg BissonetteAmazing lineup in place, killer songs written and ready for launch pad.
What a load of horseshit. The only real GNR line up is:
Axl
Buzsaw
Paxcow
Jarmo
James Lofton
I'll lock you all in a room, with 3 straws, an old accoustic, an atari, a tamborine and a pack of gum and I won't allow release till I get my new AFD

Each to their own I guess.
That robin solo spot posted above kinda highlights my issue with him...by the end it's bluesy and killer...but the first 1/2 of that video...well it's not for me I guess.
Robin had a lot of great stage pressence, and the TIL solo has its moments...I'm not a hater of him but to say its the best rock solo of all time is rating it well above what I would.
From what i've seen of DJ his style seems to blend perfectly with robins and also slash's - i think he could be the solution to a lot of problems. But time will tell. Believe me i'll be the first to change my mind if he gets up there and doesn't nail the AFD solos!
#7594 Re: Guns N' Roses » What did Axl consider to be "Big Guns" » 884 weeks ago
I think a lot of fans like sorry because it deals with Axl's views on a variety of the the topics we like to talk about on here. But i just feel it's the weakest of the tracks. But having said that I think the whole of CD is at a very high standard in terms of songwriting.
Cornell is hit and miss for me. When he writes a song I love it's killer, but when he doesn't he really doesn't. But at the end of the day i like them both...there's so few good singers in the rock genre that we really dont need to play them off against each other...
#7595 Re: Guns N' Roses » What did Axl consider to be "Big Guns" » 884 weeks ago
I really love the whole album.
However if i was forced to get critical...I think sorry is the weakest track on the record...it's just much blander than everything else.
And I think Axl and chris' parts on prostitute are amazing but that it could have used some kind of other guitar work. It needs an epic solo to me. But then i guess i'm just a guitar junkie
I think "twat" and "better" are big guns compared to the live versions of Silkworms and riad tho....
#7596 Re: Guns N' Roses » Who's DJ? » 884 weeks ago
robin's better. DJ is nothing. he's nothing. robin's TIL solo OWNS anything DJ's done and will do. axl made the wrong choice. robin poured his guts into chinese democracy. where's robin's public credit? robin got the shaft
I enjoy robin's playing on CD, and agree he put his all into those solos. But I'm not sure he suited the band on the older material, like the AFD tracks, and he's currently kicking ass in NIN..so he's doing ok.
But I think DJ can do some pretty good things.

I'm not saying any of this will happen. It most likely will not happen. However, the opportunity is there(its always been there) if he wants it.
I agree.
If metallica can come back with Death Magnetic after what they did to their fan base with St Anger...thenGNR, could regain fans if the right steps were taken.

I love me some TWAT... In the morning... In the evening... Right before bed... Anytime is a good time for TWAT.
But do you love a twat leak?
