^ I'm not saying they are lying....i wouldnt know either way....but your argument that it's such old news doesn't make sence...if no one cared it wouldn't be in the paper period.....i could go on the biggest rant ever and it wouldn't get into the paper.....

That would be fine and dandy if he'd actually put out anything worthy of the "masterpiece" label in the last 18 years, but he hasn't.
Well that's one of those each to their own opinions. Madagascar was so inspirational for me, and This I love I consider to be one of the most beautiful and emotional songs ever written - so for me I still think Axl has the goods. But if others don't like the new material that's just as valid.

Yeah...i've only ever had a casual interest in ST...my friends are into it and I saw a lot of TNG and I find it watchable but never really got hardcore into it...but I really enjoyed the new movie...felt the new cast did a great job of bringing the show back to life but being respectful of the past. I'll def check out the sequal when it happens

the album itself is good enough for me, if thats the way the band wanted it released then thats gotta be the way it is
remember that band Bush from the 90's? the released Razorblade Suitcase then they did a remixed album called Deconstructed a year later
maybe GnR will go that route? i wouldnt mind hearing some alt mixes in a truely mastered form, but none of the leaks can compete with the final mixes imo
I agree with this. I thought i was the only one. To me the album was a good - I like that they kept most of the bucket stuff that had been in the songs so long, but I also thought the overall effect of most songs was superior in album form than the leaks. I'd be interested to hear a version that was mixed and mastered by different enginers or whatever...but in general I'm happy with the way they came out as final versions.

One thing I don't think enough people consider is that Axl can only be who he is.
In my opinion there is a lot of him and his personality captured in his music, and it comes from very real place.
What these articles always seem to boil down to is "Axl's a cunt and he should be different or do different things" but he'd have to alter his personality to do that, and that would have dire consequences on the artistic results.
At the end of the day, in my opinion, the bullshit that fucks up the business side of things and angers fans and others, is a very real part of the same psyche that is able to create the musical masterpieces he makes. He only has one mind, and it's a package deal. I think people should keep that in mind is all and maybe show a bit more understanding.
#7607 Re: Guns N' Roses » What did Axl consider to be "Big Guns" » 884 weeks ago
I believe CD the album was thrown together to clear debt. It wasn't supposed to be that way, but when the opportunity came via Azoff, Axl took the stuff that was already out there and threw it on an album and released it as CD. Who knows what was really intended to be CD. I think there is material Axl thinks is better somewhere, but I'm not convinced it will ever see the light of day legally.
Sounds quite plausable. Makes a lot of sence from their perspective too - it ends the burden of the endless wait for an album, media humiliation over it, and it gets their prefered versions into the world of the tracks rather than what he'd consider incomplete, meanwhile pays off all the debts and kinda resets things. Seems like a good call in that regard,
I think over time, and with changing members, the plans for CD have been changed a number of times. From longer albums, to double albums, to focusing on new sounds and all kinds of different ideas that have come and gone. But that's part of the creative process.
In terms of this album, I think "This I love" and TWAT and perhaps Prostitute are fairly dramatic songs compared to a simpler song like IRS. Especially when you consider that when that comment was said all of the songs were likely being reworked. I also think the "big guns" comment was one of those things that got hyped up well beyond its logical meaning by the fanbase - prob due to the wait and silecnce from the band - but - yeah - its kinda a throw away comment IMO that says theres even more cool stuff if you like IRS...which was true....but now cos of the way shit unfolded people started expecting jesus and that wasn't ever going to happen.

Speaking more generally and not about Axl in particular:
People with mental problems feel things and experience events entirely differently to how a sane rational person does. So it would be a "choice" he makes in that his action directly causes an outcome, and, to a logical person no one made him make that choice. So we assign blame. However what actually motivated his choices is pressures and feelings that the logical person doesn't understand or experience but which remain VERY real to the chooser.

RIP. Loss of a parent is always hard to take. My thoughts are with slash and his family.

Oh it is sad to hear he is that unhappy. That's for sure. And if all this is true then why does Ron lie to us like that? Cause the Axl depicted here is the total opposite of what Ron has been saying lately.
Why's that? Ron says he chats to him about movies and tells jokes and laughs around with him and stuff and doesn't discuss the outcome of business side of things with him.
It's not at all unusual for a person suffering from this type of thing to be very upset about certain things, but also experience moments of happiness or put on a different apperance for others.
Even the firing/re-hiring thing expresses changing emotions. That's assuming any of it is true though.
It could quite easily be the case that when he's feeling positive Axl spends time with his close friends and bandmates, and when he's upset he seeks solace alone. This would lead his friends such as Baz and Ron to say they've never seen evidence of trouble, but also account for delays and incidents when they happen.
