If the World feels in the vein of Breakdown to me. I could see the Illusions line up doing a version of If the World.

Songs the old Guns could or would have easily done their spin on:
If the World
Catcher in the Rye
Madagascar
The Blues
Prostitute
IRS
There Was a Time

Songs the old Guns wouldn't have touched (basically the potential singles):
Chinese Democracy
Better
Riyadh and the Bedouins
Shackler's Revenge
Oh My God

Paint us surprised, which can only be some sort of Dr. Seuss like color whose polka dots are kept uniform in a pool of liquid paint, because Variety has added the first taste of actual progress on the front of a live action Ghostbusters 3 that we've had this year.

The Ghostbusters video game, announced last year, postponed any discussion of a live action Ghostbusters 3 with the original cast, now, about 10 months later, we get news that Dan Ackroyd's comments earlier this week about two up-and-coming writers penning a new Ghostbusters wasn't just Ackroyd wishful thinking.

From Variety:

Columbia Pictures is getting serious about scaring up a new installment of its blockbuster 'Ghostbusters' franchise.
The studio has set 'The Office' co-exec producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky to write a script for a film designed to bring back together the original cast of Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.

Studio would not comment on the development and has been mum on recent rumors that there was interest in making another installment of the franchise.

The scribes just wrote 'Year One,' a comedy that was directed by Ramis. Ramis with Aykroyd wrote the first two installments of the films. Ivan Reitman directed both the 1984 original and the sequel that was released in 1989. The close proximity between the writers and original Ghostbuster Ramis is evidence that the ghost chasers have sparked to the idea of returning.

Eisenberg and Stupnitsky, rumor has it, have discussed this project with both Reitman and Ramis, and will probably include a story about the next generation of Ghostbusters. Who those are, and the involvement of Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen are still hanging in the balance.

Regardless of if this is a good idea or not, it's nice to have some solid news 19 years after the last Ghostbusters movie.

He was very nearly part of the AFD line up. As for his being talented, aside from his GN'R contributions mentioned above, I'm personally a fan of his solo stuff and think he writes a hell of a melody.

I don't place anymore importance on Slash then say Duff or Izzy. I am aware that the rest of the world may because of Slash's high profile, but I don't.

Yeah the old school fans often feel that way..but i think in terms of iconic status to people who don't really know the band...they just see an angry redhead and a dude wearing a top hat...to the general public the UYI lineup was still GNR without question, but the current line up doesn't have the same respect out there.

Why wouldn't the Illusions line up still be GN'R? Because they replaced their unimpressive, incompetant drummer with a more reliable player? Because they had a touring rhythm guitarist fill in for Izzy, who was still represented on most of the then new music they were playing? Because of the addition of Dizzy, a talented keyboardist who gets all too often shit on even though he should have been the sixth member of GN'R since day one? The Illusions line up is the penultimate line up. Not all of us worship at the altar of AFD.

#786 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N' Roses leaker wants your help » 923 weeks ago

As the fanbase, ignoring these leaks would be like ignoring the big gaping hole in the side of your house after someone drives their car through it. It happened. Walk through the hole and check out the damage. Our listening to what he chose to steal and leak doesn't mean we have to pay for his perfect crimes. I didn't ask him to leak it. Hell, Slash's getting handed copies of SOMETHING in limited circulation, so things would have leaked through more "appropriate" channels sooner or later. You can't make an asshat of yourself and then turn it back onto the fans who watched you do it.

To Skwerl: Just because we didn't stop you, doesn't mean we like you. You're not one of us. Goodbye.

Dawn is a masterpiece. I think it was you who agreed with me somewhere else about Snyder's remake being so overrated. Speaking of which, as far as Night is concerned I think I prefer the Savini remake.

He's bitching about a guy trying to make himself a celebrity and a martyr by releasing someone else's work prematurely. Slash, the former lead fucking guitarist of Guns N' Roses beind handed a fresh, mastered copy of CD in a hush-hush manner by a mutual friend in the same circle like Marc Canter or Izzy is totally different than some blogger douche ripping the shit off, STEALING IT, and posting it to ride a wave of free publicity. And he's still milking it for all it's worth. Skwerl's a piece of shit and not a true fan of anything but himself. I'm glad the FBI stomped his ass.

If they only ever made five albums, with Death Magetic and Kill 'em All a bookend to the "trilogy," that'd be a badass legacy. I never cared for the black album and could easily do without all their other material.
