Did you see Paul Maurice's post game interview?  He was literally on the verge of tears.  You can't help but feel sorry for the guy.  He's a great coach who will end up being JFJ's scapegoat.

I'm gonna guess there are not a lot of geniuses working at heavymetalmusic.biz.

Especially after reading an article that was probably written by a 12 year old (no offense to any young members here, but the article itself was really poor).

If Axl Rose is a marketing genius, then I'm a biochem genius.  Why?  Because I haven't done anything related to biochemisty.  That's the rationale used by those behind this article.

The true reason why Axl Rose of Guns N Roses is a marketing genius for delaying his Chinese Democracy album

January 12, 2008

OK here is the actual story of 'Is Axl Rose a marketing genius?' which is below

Axl Rose is a guy sitting on a 15 year old album called 'Chinese Democracy.' He has promised this thing over 2 years ago. It has been the longest worked on album in history!! After the older founding members split, Axl was left to put this potential genius album out. It was promised for March 2006 but it was Axl who pulled the plug on that one. It appears that this was enough to tick off his current label Geffen who penalized him by putting out a few Best of Guns N Roses albums out.

As the GNR fan base hungrily awaits for this new album, it appears Axl is a pure marketing genius by letting this album hype build, music leaks, do some tours, and go through a few line up changes. Even McDonalds could never achieve that. Will 'Chinese Democracy' ever live up to its release? Yes it will. Why? The album is done.

"The good news is that all of the recording for the album has been completed," the band site said once. "Drummer Frank Ferrer and guitarist Ron '˜Bumblefoot' Thal integrated themselves into the recordings seamlessly and will have their presence felt."

That was nearly two years ago so the album is written, recorded, and probably mastered/mixed. It is up to Axl to release it. It will live up to all the hype I believe after hearing some leaks. That is my opinion but again does that matter at this point?

Reasons why Axl Rose of Guns N Roses should be CEO of McDonalds with this mysterious Chinese Democracy album

January 12, 2008

Who is it the #1 marketing company in the world? McDonalds is most likely the answer. Why?

   1. They sell crappy burgers to people who eat them including third world nations that make McDonalds billions of dollars.
   2. Their icon, Ronald McDonald, has been compared to being as popular as Jesus Christ

So let's break out the reasons why Axl is a pure marketing genius in which someone like McDonalds would need.

   1. Axl has delayed his Chinese Democracy for over 15 years. In the software world, they call that 'vapor ware.' Not even Microsoft has had this kind of success Axl has had.
   2. Gone through enough tours to preview his tunes and live off the band's legacy of the 90's
   3. Brought in a constant revolving door of talented musicians.
   4. Music leaks are worth paying attention to give some preview samples.
   5. The press has eaten up this story for years where all McDonalds gets is that they are getting sued for making kids fat.

I do think McDonalds shareholders should be on a revolt to hire the marketing genius that Axl Rose is. Forget Steve Jobs of Apple, Axl is the hype machine of the 2000s.

I really like how this topic is hopping.  Over the past few weeks, the GNR section was pretty much dead due to lack of news.  However, as soon as we get a little crumb of information, we all like to chip in and voice our opinions.  Great thread everyone!  It's great to see everyone is still legitimately interested in this band.

Why are people crying about bad grammar. All music is littered with it, its because it sounds better . Take WTTJ for example. Welcome to the jungle, we've got fun and games.
It should be we have fun and games.

We have got fun and games is also bad english

It's also implying that the band is The Jungle, which doesn't make sense either.  "Welcome to the band!"

UYI sold 40 million, allegedly.  That was when albums sold.  I don't know very many people who downloaded the Illusions in 1991.  It's a completely different situation.

As for bringing up the old band, I think that Slash is promoting this album more than anyone right now.  He's the only member of GNR past or present in the news day in, day out.  Keeping GNR in the media is going to help sales of this album, whether he appears on it.  It's all about getting the name out there.

There's little doubt that this album can easily sell a few million copies, but it's near impossible for it to be profitable.  Too much money has already gone into this.  Besides, if the record execs thought they could get their money back, they'd have released it already.

#788 Re: Guns N' Roses » Eddie Trunk on Chinese Democracy » 922 weeks ago

Once the new AC/DC and Metallica albums come out, we might be able to get a clearer indication of how sales would be for GNR in today's industry.  The bands have similar target consumers and are each coming off long delays between albums.  Until those numbers come in, it'll be difficult to gauge record sales, as the industry has changed a lot even in the past two or three years.

Console for me.  The only one I've ever owned is NES (still works too!).  If I want to play a video game, I'll get it on PC.

Is that in the CBA?  I just thought they were locked into the contracts.  I remember when Cashin Yashin sat out a few years ago for more money.  He hasn't played the same since.  Lindros and Peca did the same thing.

We've ignored the all star guys!  Been a few surprises in there yesterday and today.  Have a look (starters have *):
East:
G Martin Brodeur*
G Rick DiPietro
G Tomas Vokoun
D Zdeno Chara*
D Andrei Markov*
D Brian Campbell
D Sergei Gonchar
D Tomas Kaberle
D Kimmo Timonen
F Daniel Alfredsson*
F Sidney Crosby*
F Vincent Lecavalier*
F Scott Gomez
F Dany Heatley
F Marian Hossa
F Ilya Kovalchuk
F Alex Ovechkin
F Mike Richards
F Jason Spezza
F Eric Staal
F Martin St. Louis

West:
G Roberto Luongo* (not playing)
G Manny Legace
G Chris Osgood
G Evgeni Nabokov
D Nicklas Lidstrom*
D Dion Phaneuf*
D Duncan Keith
D Ed Jovanovski
D Chris Pronger
D Sergei Zubov
F Pavel Datsyuk*
F Jarome Iginla*
F Henrik Zetterberg*
F Jason Arnott
F Marian Gaborik
F Ryan Getzlaf
F Shawn Horcoff
F Anze Kopitar
F Rick Nash
F Henrik Sedin
F Paul Stastny
F Joe Thornton

Well, both sides have players missing that I think should be there, but really, who can we take off?  I'd like to see Malkin and Kovalev added as forwards in the east.  Maybe take away Richards and Gomez.  Since we're taking them off, we need to add another player from the Rangers.  I'd put in Lundqvist for Vokoun.  After that, we need to add a player for Florida, so why not sub in Bouwmeester for Gonchar.  Sure, there are other guys who should be there (Brad Richards, Mats Sundin, Brendan Shanahan), but there's no one else I think is worthy of coming off.

As for the west, I'd like to see the other sister (Daniel Sedin) added.  He and Henrik would make some magic there.  Too many players are just tokens on both sides.  It's crap that all teams need to have at least one representative.  I mean Shawn Horcoff??? Take him out and put Sam Gagner (as another Oiler).  Take out Duncan Keith and put another AHLer in there.
