i just see artistic direction and vision as a big part of what tore them apart. why would they, all of the sudden, be on the same page if they repaired their friendship. slash would definitely have to be the one doing more of the compromising if it were to work musically.

at this stage in the game gnr does not do 4 million cds's in the US regardless of who the guitar player is. if a huge hit comes out of nowhere - they would sell a ton of dl's for that song but would not sell 4 million cd's. this is not the 90's or even the 00's.

i don't think he sounded any better when teh song beter was towards the beginning of the set list. it's just too loud of a song for his mid range rasp to compete with.

if it sounds dated it is not marketable to the mainstream.
but if the goal was to create music that sounds good and not to target the market at the time they may have materiali in the vault that isn't dated and is completely new and fresh.
they don't though - it would've been on album 1.
if they want to sell album 2 to the masses it needs to be a brand new album with the current band and release the vault material as a bonus disc.

I think the problem(s) may be the somewhat strained relationship between Axl and Universal. They're probably not in a hurry to rush, release, and promote a new GNR CD after the entire saga of the last one. And at the same time Axl probably wants more of a commitment from them than they got the last time. I'd find it hard to believe that negotiations would be anything but long and arduous.
Plus, as people have pointed out in the past, the aura and mystique of CD and GNR's first album in 15 years is long gone now. Universal doesn't have that built in promotion that helped the record sell as well as it did. A second album probably wouldn't sell nearly as well even if it was worlds better than the first, assuming everything was handled in the same manner.
exactly my point. the next release will have to be a great album in order for it to be moderately successful. but regardless of that as well as universal's relationhip status with axl it is a business and no matter how you look at it axl still owes them music. no way he spent 14 million dollars on the 14 songs we have. universal has already paid for a future release or 2. might as well get some money back from it and any new gnr album will do that.

No offense meant to war, but can we please not start thread titles with 'LOL!!!!'?
If "we" are not laughing hysterically when "we" start a thread then yes. Your wish cannot be granted at this time.

nobody's hating and what you are implying makes perfect sense and we've heard these same intentions from multiple sources but we are just as much a product of our past as we are our future and intentions haven't come to fruition in the past so few of us will get our hopes up and don't take offense to that. i, for one, think something will come soon enough but only because 2 album's worth of material has already been recorded and alledgedly turned in to record label. it would be better IMO if gnr would record and tour album 2, both, with the same lineup in tact and release anything already existing as a bonus disc but I will settle for anything new, ofcourse.
