#8351 Re: Guns N' Roses » Tom Zutaut kicked out » 911 weeks ago

I don't know any of the players involved here. But I have to say that this Tom Zutaut guy sounds classy in that he was thrown out of a venue yet still basicly talked at length about his respect of axl's talent.

I think it's scarier to say:

What can I do when there's so many liars that crawl through your veins like millions of spiders

then

sometimes I feel like my life's a catastrophe can't understand why it seems like it has to be

#8354 Re: Guns N' Roses » Is "Sorry" Axl's F.U. to the fans? » 911 weeks ago

While being an Axl song it is probably working on a few different levels at once, to me there is a lot more to suggest it's directed at the fans/general public/media perception of him than there is to say anything directly about slash. Hell..the "Nobody owes you" is something jarmo has been saying for a while to people...

#8355 Re: Guns N' Roses » For the record..... » 911 weeks ago

Well that's your opinion Buzz and I can accept that as you clearly arn't a fan of the new music...so why should you buy it? For my part I agree about the naming issue that it isn't the same band, yet I dearly love many of these songs and for that reason am a fan of the new music and the old.

I don't think people who don't buy the records arn't fans. And it makes sence to me that people like buzz who hate nuGNR don't buy it. But what I think is strange are people who DID like CD, and who DO listen to the songs and enjoy them, yet don't go purchase the record legally.

Yeah its funny cos people always say slash gave a bunch of interviews where he called Axl an asshole and so on...but i've never seen these interviews. I'm not saying anyone is lying but I wonder if its been exagerated cos we all keep saying that it happened. I've seen him say he was over Axl being late and cancelling shows and that he didn't like his parts being re-recorded(but that's just giving a reason for his quitting rather than saying axl is a fuckhead or anything). And i dont have any qotes on hand - but i've seen situations where the interviewer was bagging axl and slash shut it down. He's always come across to me as respectful of axl's talent and vaguely leaving the door open for a reunion one day if the things he doesn't like about the band are resolved. (mostly the cancelling of shows and lateness)

There is a definate Anti-Slash attitude from Axl, and the way beta, fernando and jarmo constantly come online and sow the seeds of Slash negativity, its clear to me that the bad feeling towards Slash is very real , very bitter, and very close to the surface in that little clique.

Yes..actually I'll grant that Jarmo seems keen to sow the seeds of anti-slash sentiment in the fan base. I always assumed it was a strategy of his to be seen as acceptable to the modern band (and I guess from the liner notes it worked!) given that it began right around the time he was getting access to the band. I wouldn't know what Beta and so on think so i'll take your word.

The interesting question then is: Why? Why do they hate slash SO badly. What did he do? He played a key role in making the previous works of the band successful. He allowed Axl to take full control of the GNR name. Appart from the occasional lighthearted joke about lead singers and lateness and that kind of thing he has refrained from bagging out Axl or the modern GNR to any real extent - and there have been a ton of chances for that. I don't see why the hate. Maybe it's because he left. He did leave big shoes to fill - and I can see that would be problomatic and cause some resentment - or perhaps axl has issues with abandoment in general now. Although - I think if we looked at things fairly - no one is a saint - NONE of the guys in gnr - slash included - but if Axl was getting people to re-do slash's parts...a guy who helped make AFD and stuff - it's no surprise that he got upset over it. Anyway...all i'm saying is...i'd love to know the reason they might hate slash. if that is the situation.

Yeah..i hear ya brett...I just think there's a lot of lines in it that actually don't make sence about Slash but would when applied to Axl's general image in the media etc.

Can i derail this thread more - dont want to post a new topic for it - but I've been listening to the new "Catcher in the Rye" a lot - and at first the changes from the May version where a bit of a shock but i'm growing to like it - the solo at 2.24 is fucking cool - cos it mirrors the old one kind of then ripps into some shreedy goodness...i like it. It's bumble yeah? Cos i dont think robin plays that fast? Booklet says solo from Bumble, Robin, Bumble so i'm just trying to work out who is where...

Yeah...I know everyone wants it to be about Slash cos of the Axl vs Slash vibe online...but I feel its more directed at the fanbase, public, media. But that's just my opinion.
