I'll gladly take it. I'm testing this out properly after they ripped me off with St. Anger. I'm not sure what the biggest ripoff was: Velvet Revolver's Contrband or St. Anger.

Dude...i know you're no VR fan...but come on...St Anger was a unstructred, self indulgent, half hearted and mediocore jam session with drums that were recorded from inside my toilet....not saying contraband was my favourte album ever...but it's definately a lot more listenable to! 1416:rock:

Interesting point Bright Eyes - although I think to some extent trying to get his credit back would diminsh it. Axl has always done whatever the fuck he wants or needs to do...and that's why he is axl and a huge star. You know like if he wants to please people - he could reunite with Slash...but that's not how he works...he works with who he wants, goes on late when he has to do, stops shows, yells at the crowd....he is who he is...and the GNR policy has always been - akin to a "like it or suck my dick" kinda thing...and to be honest I think he pulls off being a rockstar well...

#8643 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl Rose being timeless - do you agree? » 923 weeks ago

I saw GNR in 1993 and a few times in 2007 - and I must say - although Axl's peformance is different now...as WAR descirbed...he most definately has not lost it. In fact..the strong sence I got watching the 07 line up has how Axl's talent was a level above the rest of the stage (no offence to them) - but you know when you see Axl its someone really unique.

The reason there's an issue with the new band being 'GUNS N ROSES' is because of the fact that BOTH Axl AND Slash were icons of that brand name. It'd be like The Rolling Stones without Keith Richards. Or Led Zeppelin without Jimmy Page.

Most people have a BIG issue with that, and constantly pull out that "it's not GNR" argument.

I have always thought that if Slash was still there, and it was Axl & Slash surrounded by the current band, no one would even be keeping score and in their band GN'R never broke up.

I strongly agree with this...i think the diehards would miss izzy still or duff...but to the average person GNR was the Axl+Slash combo...ala Jagger and Richards....it would still be GNR with Slash and Axl and anyone else in the band to 90% of people I'd say.

I'm not much of a fan of Manson as I felt it was too gimic driven....but John 5 is one hell of a good guitarist...he has a ton of techincal ablitity and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if his musicianship extended to all kinds of other genres.

I'd be ok with catwoman as long as its done well...like not someone like cher..but if they do it in a respectful way to the character and not like Hally Berry nonense....and since The Dark Knight's plot essentially

I don't understand why people write shit like that. It isn't funny to me. As there is no joke - i mean he could have died - if they went on and came to some punch line maybe it would be funny - but if its just pretending he's dead when he isn't then that's fucked up.

He has that 80s sound...i've never seen them live...but in the studio he seems to be able to pull that genre of singing off for what it is.

There's an obvious bias, but it's an age old TIRED argument that I won't get into.
If it was Axl making those comments, they'd have his face buried in the pillow and riding his ass ALL - NIGHT - LONG.
And you know it.

Actually, I know nothing of the sort, it seems to me its the other way around. Slash gets his name written as $la$h for doing guitar hero 3, then Axl does Rockband 2 and its a visionary and exciting way to launch his new album.

I could go on...but I agree its pointless to argue....over it...there are detractors of Axl and Slash alike...some justified after bad decisions they've made but much of it just  because people want to play "team sports" with their heros and seem to identify with one by bashing the other. All i'm saying is that I don't subscribe to the "poor axl hunted by the fans" thing you seem to be saying above...as the fact he controls HTGTH and most other forums alone show it isn't the case.
