It would be interesting if true, but I don't believe it. The guy who posted on sludge also claims he has heard CD. Yeah right.

yeah i noticed that too...and i must say my expectations of lenny actually joining droped like 100 points after I read it....I hope he does...but i dont trust "insiders" who not only have friends who know the guy who owns the joint where slash reherses - yet also work at a label and have listened to the whole of CD....maybe this guy knows santa too and can hook me up with his list of naughty girls...

Killer bass at the start of this. I think a studio version of that would be cool...i'm going to pre-order this album smile

^ I disagree with your dislike of the leaks as I enjoy them, and find Axl's lyrics facinating and his melodies haunting. However I strongly agree that it's madness to say Slash hasn't done anything of worth since GNR.
Some of his best peformances are outside of GNR. Bottom line - Axl and Slash write pretty different styles of music these days - but they both fucking kick ass - then and now.

Oh just want to add: In a way everything looses impact over time though right? Like i mean "Don't Cry" will always bea good song..but it wouldn't blow me away now like 20 years ago.

As much as people always talk about these songs being demos and how silly that gets with a 200 track pro tools set up going on...this song is one of those that feels 'unfinished' to me. Stylisticly I think the chorus melodies and heavier parts are really haunting and it's got a lot of potential to become one of the best GNR songs I think...but its maybe not there yet.

I never understand any of this stuff about relics and relevance. If we want to get like that pretty much all hard rock, and metal music is irrelvant. If we want to be about fashion and what's left of sales...then they need to hire in Justin Timberlake as the lead guy? Fuck all that.

Slash makes music in a particular style (the stones/aerosmith riff style) and he's damn good at it. I don't want to see him try and be people he isn't just because its not cool to make that style at the moment or it is too 1980s or whatever. The issue with VR already if you ask me was that scott was insisting on less lead and rock guitar based riffs and more post-grunge/modern stuff. I want to see Slash make some killer tunes and who gives a hell what decade it is and what the little kids pretending to be drug dealers because they have rap ringtones on their mobiles from dudes who rap about guns and bitchs but really live in isolated fortresses. Haha. Fuck relevance!!

Anyway...Bach performs in a particualr style...and whatever else...he is a master at that particular sound...and the reality is...as a front man for that style of sound, his physical performance, and as a performer with a vocal range like his, 90% or more of singers would not be able to hold a candle to what he can deliver live. He does what he does. But he does it well. Angel down may not be for everyone...and that's fine but  you won't find too many other dudes capiable of performing it live as well as he does.

Lenny is cool because he's never cared about relevance. He's always put out records that sound like they were mixed before he was born....and that's cool. He also is damn cool at what he does.

I think it could be very interesting.

It's funny that if the band did something relevant to the modern times, like do a Rockstar:Inxs style search for a young and modern singer, or an internet competition they would be considered a joke and sell outs. Yet they audition two guys at the top of their respective genres and styles and everyone gets worried because of relevance.

I'm actually getting into this idea the more I think of it.

Lenny has star pull - so it wouldn't be like replacing scott with an unknown scott clone. He doesn't have the flake attitude or arrogance of many lead singers. He is rockstar in the sence that he pulls of the attitude seeming genuine - like you see him live and he is impressive - he's real unlike many of the posers out there. He can also sing well, writes good (if somewhat soft for my taste) tunes, and can play guitar. All around a pretty interesting card to add to the VR mix.

#8840 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » the new vr singer is? » 927 weeks ago

wow. Is this real you guys think? Would be pretty exciting..lenny plays cool guitar and writes some good songs.

I mean "fields of joy" with slash was awesome, and "always on the run" is cool and lenny has solo songs in similar styles like "stop dagging around".

Although i'd hope they can make some heavier stuff too...cos some of lenny's stuff starts getting pretty mellow at times. which is cool...but we'd need some rockier stuff in there as well.
