Good Luck - hope it goes well.

Make sure you address all the topics...as the people that have to decide who gets the job most likely have to justify their decision based on the applicants suitability to handle each of those critera...so if you spend too much time on any 1 of them alone then they have nothing to asses you on for the other parts.

At the same time what will we have to live for then?  Our goal is accomplished, will we no longer be friends?  Is our bond that brought us here, GNR and CD now fade when rumors or leaks are no longer happening?  I hope not.

I hope not too. Although it could be like school, where I tried to keep up friendships with people from there, and still have the occasional dinner, but once the bond together is broken, there isn't the common reason anymore sad

Still we have a while to go I guess, there's CD, then the new VR...what happens to me if all of these people retire I don't know...guess i'll have to follow some new bands....but it won't be the same!

Mysteron said it's intended to be the first single.

It seems kind of silly to put anything other than an album track and the first single on the game. Why would you want the track that will garner the most attention to be absent from the album?

Well ...just to play devil's advocate, it depends *why* the album never comes out. We are told it's some kind of business problem...it could be being released as some kind of tactic or demonstration in that battle.

I love GNR, but one thing is for sure, they don't always do what we would expect them to do. As much as I hope this is the beginning of a CD release rampage, we really should stick with what we know for sure, and the only offical thing is really one isolated song on a computer game.

#8935 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR, Rock Band, the VMAs and 4 albums » 930 weeks ago

Oh bugger! So i'm back down to 13 songs? I had my mind all geared up for a 3-4 CD monster set!!

#8936 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR, Rock Band, the VMAs and 4 albums » 930 weeks ago

Yeah...and releasing 4 at once would not only upstage the UYI "event" - but it would maximise the press coverage to an insane level and I think kinda boost things. Like if its one CD and 12 songs - even if the songs are all kickass the review is going to be "good songs..but was it worth a 15 year wait for an hour of music?" - if he releases like 45 songs the review will be more like "crazy axl...finally releaes his life's work...". I think he'd come off better.

It's going to be wierd when CD comes out. After i've waited this long for it, I'll feel a sence of personal achievment, almost like i've proved something to my friends who didn't think it would come. That's crazy cos I had nothing to do with it...but I'll feel a sence of satisfaction if it comes out and its as good as the leaks are.

I'll say anything is possible. But I'm looking at this logically and I'm not interjecting a possible reunion scenerio into every topic. That gets old after a while. I think a lot of it is meant to try
and undermine the current GNR by some disgruntled old line up fans who don't want CD to be
a success, because failiure of CD, in their minds, will lead to a fantasy reunion.
A reunion is not that simple.

I can see what you're getting at there and respect your opinion. We are in agreement that it is a hell of a lot of "If"s, I was just saying, well, you never know, it ain't always over till its over kinda thing.

While I would love to see a reunion as I believe musically Slash and Axl compliment each other to perfection in a way that is like 1 in 1000, my interest in that does not equate to me wanting CD to fail. Actually i'm a huge damn fan of the leaks and CD era songs.

Which is why for me this is always going to be a mixed senerio now. I'll always miss slash on the guitar in the AFD/UYI  part of the set, but a setlist with none of the CD era material would always seem lacking to me now too. So i'll pretty much be impossible to please from now on. Unless we get my day-dream senario with bumble+Slash (or bucket+Slash but that's less likely - as it's two reunion bridges to cross) where slash plays rhythm for BBF on the CD era songs, and BBF plays rhythm for slash on the old material. It would NEVER hapen though I guess!!!! Too much to ask for!

Anyway so although I do love Slash, I'm no hater of the CD era tunes. I can see your viewpoint though as perhaps some people who bring up reunions are. I think the other reason people talk about it though is because Axl doesn't seem able to present a viable sustainable GNR line up. I'm not knocking the music...but the reality is the band is always in flux...Yes there were some casulties in the old days, like steven and izzy. But in the UYI era you could say who was in the band for sure. That's not how its been since 2000....Huge, Brain, Robin...who knows if they are even gone or not...we know bucket is gone...I think there would be less calls for reunions if we'd been given a firm GNR line up. With no reunions of any kind (old band or 2001 era band) then what you have will be a tour line up to support the new album of people who not only didn't play on AFD, Lies or UYI but mostly didn't play on CD too.

Much as I think if Scott is going to be as annoying as Axl to Slash - why wouldn't he go back to Axl.  I think the same is true for Axl - if everyone who joins the band end up quitting, eventually maybe he'd consider fixing some of the old relationships who he knows he writes good stuff with instead of auditioning GNR relacments round #6

Anyway...sorry i derailed the thread!

Why would they want a reunion? The guys involved are FILTHY RICH, so there are no money
needs here. Plus, you know, they still have their own things going on.

They don't need the money..but maybe it's not about money. While VR and the other bands have enjoyed some success. GNR is by far the most recgonisable thing these guys will ever do in their lifetime. They will be harassed  by GNR fans, asked GNR interview questions for the rest of time. When they die, they will be remembered as the founders of GNR. It must be annoying to be that person, and watch other people play shows under your name. Maybe they want their kids to see what they really were back in the day by playing a reunion show and the attention that would bring. Maybe the feel nostalgic about the old friendships. There are many reasons why they might want a reunion.

After what Slash and Duff went through with Scott, with one of the main complaints being
that he was too much like Axl, what has Axl showed you in these last six years that he is
any different than he used to be? How would that be appealing to them?

I'll partially agree with this one. The reason slash quit GNR was the cancelled shows and late starts that he saw as disrespectful to the rest of the band and fans. This shit hasn't changed. Hiowever even this isn't impossible. Axl is clearly less problamatic than he used to be. There's still late starts..but his record has improved somewhat. Maybe they can be convinced. Also  if  other singers are premadonas...then that could change their view. Turn it around - if Scott and Axl are going to put you through the same shit - why not put up with it in GNR where everything else is maximised? (money, fan respect, fame, potential for hits)

There would be no album. Period. The most you'd get from a reunion is maybe a few shows
or a set at the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame. These guys have shown they cannot work together,
plus Axl is Axl in the recording studio. They would all want a say, and why would Axl want to
share that power when he has all the power now.

Axl may eventually come to the realisation that the others in the band have talents that are not easily replaced. Half of why he wanted to take control was the drug issues and things that have now been sorted out.  Time heals wounds. If he has some songs that he thought needed slash's touch - why not call him? Because the Axl of 27 got angry at him? why should the man he is today care about that. And slash and the guys know damn well axl is one of the best  singers in the world. That 1995 interview with slash that neemo posted the other day showed that slash will come to the table to sort out shit even after there's been a lot of trouble. All he needs is some validation that there's an intent for things to be different.

FORTH
Izzy would not tour with them. He wouldn't be able to put up with Axl on the road or recording.
And more importantly, with no Izzy, there would be NO REAL REUNION.

Agreed..for us fanboys. But the general public wouldn't give a shit. How often is VR refered to as 3/5 of GNR? No one cares than Matt was the 2nd drummer. The general public wants to see Axl + Slash together and will except any line up with those two as a legitimate GNR, with Duff as well the deal is sealed. They could use richard, gliby, or anyone else for a tour without any issue. Recording wise - well slash and izzy already had a CD or more of GNR songs ready to go a few years ago that never came to anything I think.

As I said before, if Axl had to abandon what he's done with this band it would be an admission
of failure, and he would spite himself and never sing again before he admitted he couldn't make
it with his band and his vision.

Agreed - IF he did it with no album. What if he releases 4 albums this year in one hit. Thus equaling the ENTIRE output of the old band!!! That's no failure!!! Once he has done that - what then? Go hire new people to replace robin and record a new album? Just as easy to call slash. Musically there are some differences...but at least 50% of the leaks we have could have been done by the old band...theres still a hell of a lot of similarities for them to find common ground.

I'm not saying there IS going to be a reunion. All i'm saying is I don't think its out of the question like you seem to. Especially not once CD is actually out there and finished with. Then its just time.
