My Steelers are looking damn fine. I don't know why there isn't more noise around the Bears.  5-1 and they're not even in the top 1/3 of the power rankings.  With Bell going to KC, I'm even more sure they're the AFC champions this year, but maybe I'll get lucky and they'll get sniped early on in the playoffs.

It's funny how nobody ANYWHERE wants to answer this.

One of the lurkers called me a transphobe a while back for saying this previously. It’s not something you’re going to get a response to because it’s indefensible. You can support treating people with dignity and respect, and also recognize there are only two sexes. No one will define gender or provide a comprehensive list of traits that can be categorized as male or female. So the distinction of gender is meaningless once you remove male or female sex traits.

But they’re the party of science. What study did they read on climate change, which model is most accurate?  “The one the people on TV all agree on. I don’t have the time to read things to have a personal opinion.”

It got 60 votes??

They used reconciliation to avoid a filibuster. Reid hadn’t attacked the filibuster yet.

Then the GOP kept the house for 8 years.

You do recall not a single Republican worked on or voted for the bill. Obama said Republicans can go to the back of the bus. It was a real zinger. Back when Presidents only engaged the public through talk shows and courted rap stars and A-listers.

Didn’t the media label Kanye bipolar when he posed with Trump. The crack dealer from Brooklyn was a much better Presidential photo op.

You know, the more I think about it, the more possible it is that they try to raise a stone dragon and inadvertently raise Jon.

The Lord of Light cherishes the innocent. There is no sacrifice more precious. From his king's blood and his untainted fire, a dragon shall be born.[2]

—Melisandre to Stannis Baratheon

Could mean Jon being brought back.

Only a king's blood can wake the stone dragon.[1]

—Melisandre to Stannis Baratheon

Could be Danerys hatching her stone eggs

Shireen: I had bad dreams. About the dragons. They were coming to eat me.
Cressen: We have talked of this before. The dragons cannot come to life. They are carved of stone, child.[5]

—Shireen Baratheon and Cressen

Dany’s dragons are probably coming to Dragon Stone.

I have seen it in the flames, read of it in ancient prophecy. When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone.[4]

—Melisandre to Jon Snow

This is the big one and no one knows. Most likely Dany, as there’s no star when Jon is stabbed. Guess we’ll have to see if one appears.

The Wall preserves things pretty unnaturally and there's magic there as well. Totally possible Jon is "dead" for a significant portion of WOW, with a few Ghost pov chapters in-between.

I think so too. I also think it’s how Jon keeps his sanity instead of losing himself like Beric, Catelyn or Cold Hands.

#905 Re: The Sunset Strip » A Song Of Ice And Fire » 290 weeks ago

Maybe, but I think burning Shireen is how Jon comes back.  Stannis needs a Stark to take the North, and Mel will soon figure out Jon is TPTWP.  Stannis once said the hardest decision of his life was to support Robert in the Rebellion instead of Aerys.  If he learns who Jon is, will his strong code of Duty prevent him from helping put Jon on the Throne?

Dragons will never fly over the wall like they did in the show.  In Fire and Blood, one of the Targaryen's tried to, and their dragon would not fly over the wall no matter how hard they tried.

I don't know off the top of my head.  Boehner?  AOC is in her seat cause she unseated the establishment party candidate.  Taking over the party?  You'll have to explain why you feel that way, as neither Boehner or Ryan were part of the tea party.  Do you feel the AOC crowd took over the Democratic party, cause I don't.

Yes, the tea party was elected primarily as a result of Obamacare.  And Republicans spent the next 4 years passing bills to repeal it that they knew Reid wouldn't take up in the Senate.  Just as Pelosi is passing bullshit stimulus bills she knows have no chance of seeing the light of day.  Maybe you're right and Schumer is as stupid as Reid, but I don't think so.  Harris isn't likable.  She proved that during the primaries.  If Biden drops dead or has a stroke, I don't think she gets re-elected.  Trump gave us the best economy in our history.  Mitch can say he doesn't care, but Mitch also can't tell you what was better under Obama than Trump.  If Biden lets liberal policies stall a recovery from COVID, he bares the blame.  If Biden keeps the country locked down, he bares the blame.  As will Harris.

I'm not saying Republicans can field a worthy candidate in 2024.  I don't know how many contenders there are that don't want to talk about the value of fetuses and pretend they too believe there is an invisible man in the sky who wrote down all the rules 6k years ago to arab nomads.  But Biden or Harris isn't Obama.  People already see through Harris's fake smile and "excuse me, I was talking" bullshit"  BLM and Antifa aren't going to stop rioting, and cops are going to continue to shoot people who draw on them or shoot on them.  They already turned on Feinstein for hugging Graham.  What happens when the media can't ignore that Biden think defunding the police is retarded too?

#907 Re: The Garden » Current Events Thread » 290 weeks ago

What did the Tea Party take over?  How many retarded bills has Pelosi's house passed that they wouldn't have if Democrats had the Senate?  When they know there is no chance of it becoming law, the minority party goes full retard to appeal to the base.  Yes, the tea party morons defeated Democrats in 2010 and then did.....?  Yes, AOC and the other people lucky enough to remember to breathe have some really nutty ideas.  But the idea that the country is going to swing hard left, even if the Dems take the Senate and Biden wins is not something I can see happening.  Republicans are going to be foaming at the mouth to sue every time a Democrat sneezes (just as the Democrats have the past 4 years), so the idea Biden and Congress are going to go off the deep end just isn't going to happen with the amount of stays judges will put in place.  And if they do that, Republicans will gain control again in 2-4 years.  Biden loses re-election and the new GOP reverses everything Democrats did in their power grab.  Biden keeps telling people he's going to be an American president.  Appointing transgender women to SCOTUS who openly profess their disdain of America and the constitution is a hard sell for anyone not living in a coastal metropolis.

Ginsburg was approached in 2014 to retire.  She refused.  She owns this.

WOW spoiler -- probably nothing anyone didn't already know, it was shown in the show, but it's still pretty big as it negates a lot of theories people had about the books and Jon's ressurection.

Hidden Text:

Per the new book "Fire Cannot Kill A Dragon" Stannis will indeed burn Shireen. So all the Mel theories about her burning Shireen to bring back Jon go out the window. I do wonder if it has to do with Grayscale, Val makes a point of saying the girl is death and the disease will return. So it would seem Stannis makes it back to the wall.

Here's the quote from the author:

The fabled three big things GRRM told Dan and Dave that they used in the back seasons were Hodor's death (and origin story), Stannis burning Shireen and "who ends up on the Iron Throne." The only thing I can say aside from that is there will be some rather big differences.

How do they go out the window?  Shireen and Selyse are at the wall with Melisandre.  Stannis is outside Winterfell.  The idea Stannis is going to retreat back to the wall to get Shireen to then burn her is a pretty hard pill to swallow.  Yes, we know Shireen will be burned, but I don't think it will happen in the first half of the book.  Roose is going to unleash the Freys to attack Stannis' army first.  There's a good reason to think the whole lake scene from Season 7 is an homage to the Battle of Winterfell.  I find it very likely on what has been written that Stannis plans to lure the Frey army over a lake that he's already puts lots of holes in, decimating the Frey army on its charge.  To say nothing of what the Northern Conspiracy has cooked up for the Bolton's inside Winterfell.  Manderly is all team Stark, as are several other houses.  The show ignored Northern Loyalty, but as you know it's a real thing in the books.  I have no idea if Ramsay will kill Roose as he did in the show, but doing that would hinder his alliances, not help them.  Unlike the show, the Umbers are split 50/50 and possibly even 75/25 if you read into the conspiracy stuff for the Starks.

Jon is coming back.  How, your guess is as good as mine.  But Sansa is primed to inherit control of the Vale forces, to say nothing of Nymeria's 1000+ wolf pack killing every Lannister and Frey soldier they stumble upon.

And?  This is a fringe idea that has a 2% chance of happening.  It would consume Biden's first 4 years and destroy any chance they had at keeping anything long term.  Democrats pushed through Obamacare and look what happened.  What do you think will happen if they employ 3rd world dictator moves?  You want to talk about a civil war, this is what will do it.  I still don't think Democrats will take the Senate, and even if they do, they won't get all 51 or 52 Senators on board to do this.  GOP states like WV would immediately recall Manchin to prevent this from happening.  This is all talk to get their base worked up. Not to mention the morons would talk about diversity and race as their reasoning, and even Sotomayor would have to strike that down as unconstitutional.

I don’t see how those ratings can be spun positively for Trump. No one can claim for certain, but people don’t normally tune in to things they hate. All indicators indicate a record turn out. More people paying attention to Biden doesn’t bode well for Trump winning the 6-7 states he needs to win the presidency.
